I've always been cautious with it because of the risk and almost always use ibuprofen instead in similar situations. Lots of liquid cold syrups have acetaminophen and people don't know and may also take additional Tylenol on top of that, then a belt of whisky before bed when they have a cold. Not good.

Pregnancy was always the highest standard of drug safety (until Covid, of course). It wasn't just "this drug doesn't appear to cause any harm", it was "this drug is proven NOT to cause harm".

You only give pregnant women a drug if they absolutely need it, and the risk of not using is greater than the risk of using it.

For example, high fever during pregnancy can be dangerous for the baby. Aspirin and other fever reducers themselves pose risks to the developing baby. So, if a pregnant woman developed a high fever, getting that fever down may justify the use of just enough Tylenol to get it down.

They recently lowered the max recommend daily dose from 4000 mg to 3000 mg.

There are about 500 deaths from Tylenol OD per year, and around 2500 cases of acute liver failure from it total (which includes the deaths).

A lot this was due to all these different OTC "Cold and flu" products having the stuff in them. People, not reading the labels, would take several of these and end up ODing on it.

A drug with a higher toxic/ther ratio wouldn't be as apt to do this.

We have the original album of Buckingham Nicks. Because we are olde rockers. Lovely album. The first release six weeks ago was perfect. Stevie's voice is unique and Lindsey can shred a guitar.

My favorite song is "Crystal." Exactly how I felt when I met my husband. We'd met briefly twice before that night.

At a big kegger party he asked me out. I was outside getting some fresh air as I could feel the spins coming on (how romantic, eh?). I liked to party on my weekends off of school. Boy, did I have fun! I knew my limits and had reached them and was outside alone looking at the stars.

He came outside on that cool fall night and I clearly remember thinking, "Uh, oh" when I saw it was him. This was 49yrs ago and it's been fun.

No, sorry. I wasn't able to convince my new boss that i needed two weeks in Grand Prairie so I could attend.

This is the same dude that paid for me to attend a conference, then pulled me back to hold his hand for an executive level briefing summarizing $3m worth of research.

I really do miss being able to speak my mind while surrounded by like minded people too. That weekend in 2021 feels absolutely priceless to me now that I cannot repeat it.

The mechanism of Tylenol toxicity is interesting. It amazes at just how complex the human body's biochemical reactions are. It's a veritable Chemical Engineering Cornucopia.

At low doses Tylenol is metabolized by two parallel pathways to some end metabolite that is excreted quickly. At higher doses, those pathways get saturated, and it gets shunted off to another pathway that produces a highly toxic metabolite dubbed NAPQI (abbreviation of long chemical name).

This is then neutralized by stores of another compound glutathione. But the liver's stores of this are limited. In OD, glutathione is depleted, and NAPQI builds up and destroys the liver.

Alcohol metabolism causes the liver to get busy with that, and this shunts more of the Tylenol to that NAPQI pathway.

Antidotes to Tylenol poisoning involve getting something in the system quick to restore glutathione levels. The sooner the better.

I am currently reading Melmoth the Wanderer. It has about 5 layers deep of stories within a story. It is so bad I had to make notes. It is from 1820s, and an early gothic novel that is supposed to have been very influential.

Parts are tedious but I like it because it has a lot to say about life after the reconquista and during the inquisition.

What did not occur to me was to play games and make him jealous. Pity. I had no time for games in college as I was busy.

They all wrote great songs that have endured. I saw them at the university with my roommate, and it was a great show! Any band that sounds as good on stage as an album is fantastic.

Respectfully disagree. Kansas was incredibly talented as musicians and singers. I had a major crush on Steve Walsh. Especially when he wore gym shorts. Ha!

Seriously, they were exceptional musicians and song writers. Talented on their instruments. A totally different sound.

And here I will disagree again, as I was not as fond of Boston. Maybe 2 songs I like. Personal preference and what was played at parties I went to and music I owned in college.

At one party there was almost a Civil War in my living room over my stereo, with my close male friends of mine, and these dirt bomb skiers (from Boston) who wanted to only play Boston.

I asked my husband what happened and he said I calmly told the Boston guys to leave and they did. I don't remember stuff sometimes so he fills in the blanks.

We'd have wall to wall people come and did not know half.

Jethro Tull on stage was on fire. And, as I have said, the bass player liked me so much he screwed up a song and got yelled at by Ian Anderson, who shot me a glare. I was doing nothing but standing on a chair on the 5th row.

I wish I had seen Lynyrd Skynyrd. First concert was Mountain and also the original Allman Brothers.

Saw many that were great performances: Heart, Fleetwood Mac, ZZ Top. And many more. If I was asked by friends I went with them and had a blast.

My guy watches Rick Beato, and I am sure Rick has talked about Boston.

I watched Rick's interview with Alison Krauss last, and we saw her and Union Station this past summer. Fantastic show. Her voice is ethereal. I felt blessed to see her.
