Reuters Headline: Trump's Approval Rating Slips!!!
Actual Poll: Trump's Approval Rating Fell by 1%, Within the Margin of Error, But Democrats Are Losing Big on 8 of the Top Ten Issues

The left-wing media never stops wrapping is fragile cultists in bubble-wrap, "protecting" them from reality so that every election they are shocked and stunned by the results, and then they fall further into mental illness.

The Gaslight Media isn't gaslighting us any longer because we know they are congenital liars and vicious anti-American Marxist propagandists.

But their fellow cultists still think they're telling them the truth.

Ed Morrissey writes about the tiny, insignificant result Reuters chooses to highlight as the main takeaway:

So the big news in this poll is ... Trump's approval rating dropped by a single point from their last tracking cycle. The margin of error in this survey of 1,109 adults is +/- 3%, by the way. This means that there is no meaningful difference between the two polls, nor between either of these and the preceding poll in late August, where Trump's approval rating was 40%. It was 40% in their iteration prior to that in early August too, and the late July result as well. Going back over the entire year, the Reuters/Ipsos poll has consistently put Trump's approval rating between 40% and 46%, which fits exactly into that +/- 3% margin of error.

Here's what the Gaslight Media decided to hide:

Ed Morrissey points out that after a ten year campaign to paint Republicans as an existential threat to democracy itself, Democrats lead on the "respect democracy" question by... two points. But Republicans meanwhile lead +4 on "political extremism," which I think is probably the more pressing and salient issue, especially after another left-wing assassin that the Democrats are immediately spinning as No Big Deal.

And, amazingly: Republicans lead by +4 on... gun control!

27 Regarding the sidebar: "Where are all the Madison Cornbreads of yesteryear?"

I made the mistake of replying to the ONT after the next post was up, so my proposed answer was mostly not seen; anyway, it depends on what you mean. If the question is where all the former Junior Psyop Agents are now, I suspect they mostly calmed their tits, charmed a guy to the altar, had a couple kids, and went on to live quiet, normal lives. That wouldn't be fair, so it should be expected; real life isn't a scripted drama where bad guys mostly get their just desserts.

If the question is where's the current crop of new ones, I suspect they mostly don't exist. Picture the memetic stew that turns ambitious young women into lying stooges of the Swamp; it's based on Social Justice cult programming, which morphs over time, in much the same way as a drug or alcohol addiction. The Madison Cornbread phase is analogous to the "sweet spot" where an addict is immersed in the lifestyle, yet still functional enough to do what it takes to sustain it. The woke mind virus has since degenerated into such a toxic form that instead of pretty, put-together NPCs, it's making her would-be analogues into gibbering goblins.

The answer appears to be "no".

It would be laughable if it weren't so serious that ANYONE believes the Democrats have a better handle on the economy. I mean we all felt how much fun it was from 2021 to 2024 to watch our grocery and fuel costs seemingly climb every.single.month. And then we had to endure the occasional lectures from the Dems on why all of that economic misery was actually *good* for us, and that we deserved it, and were going to get more of it.

The string appears sporadically in comments and threads (e.g., art or open discussions) to mock overly serious acronym-hunting or to embody the site's irreverent, fratboy-style humor. It's not a formal acronym but a running gag, fitting the blog's tradition of vulgar, self-aware banter since its 2003 launch."

80 WSJ has a poll on how men versus women view the economy.

You're never going to believe this...women by a 20% margin think the economy is in really bad shape versus men.

Stock market all time high, unemployment at 4.2%, inflation almost completely in line with pre-covid rates and interest rates heading down.

Are women able to look at anything but abortion 24/7?

In fairness to women, I suspect that they've been more heavily impacted by the government layoffs and tech layoffs - where they had non-tech, make-work, jobs than men. They're probably also concerned about the ending of DEI initiatives, where they've been ended, than men.

Under Trump, the taps for a lot of the quasi political blue blob in useless jobs is being cut off while spending for male oriented fields is increasing like law enforcement, defense, mfg, construction, etc.

Politico ran a whole article on how the loss of illegals is affecting Washington's Ruling Class.

Why, one unfortunate had to put off her $400,000 kitchen remodel because her contractor lost so much staff. (This is not a joke - Politico actually ran with this as an example.)

You can see that on items such as "respect for democracy" and it is historically the case that those people never credit R for anything.

But on Crime and Immigration, the numbers are 20, 22% ... that means some of the hard core Leftist base is peeling away. This is big. Has D support ever been that low on key issues? Maybe not since just after 9/11

Depends on what you started with and what you want to end up with.

But, for 400k I would have to assume it is an addition as well as a kitchen renovation.
You start tearing off the 2nd floor, and adding new footings and foundation and things can get out of hand pretty fast.

It would appear that Newsom has finally recognized that his economic position is tenuous at best. His latest "charm offensive" is designed to entice oil companies to stay in the Golden State, with legislation to increase domestic oil production in California through new drilling permits and rehabilitating a defunct offshore pipeline.

This was inevitable. Two oil companies shutting down their refineries and leaving the state. As a Californian, I can't wait to see the $8/gallon gas prices. Honestly.

236 Commenting Style/Presence
Duncanthrax is a mid-tier, occasional commenter rather than a high-volume poster, appearing in threads on AoSHQ's comment archive across topics like gun rights, media criticism, and political satire—hallmarks of the blog's content. Their style embodies AoSHQ's signature blend of sarcasm, profanity, and intellectual snark.

Tone: Dry, bellicose wit with a touch of world-weary cynicism. Comments are concise but punchy, favoring clever one-liners over lengthy rants.

Frequency: Active since at least the mid-2010s, with spikes during election cycles or viral blog posts. Not a daily fixture like some "regulars", but reliable enough to be recognized in the community's in-joke ecosystem.

Community Role/Influence
In AoSHQ's ecosystem, Duncanthrax represents the "geek-conservative" archetype: informed on tech/military topics, yet fully immersed in the site's rowdy camaraderie. Their presence since the Obama era underscores loyalty to Ace's unapologetic voice.

Overall, Duncanthrax exemplifies the blog's appeal: a sharp, fun-loving contrarian who uses flair to dissect real-world absurdities, making the comment section as entertaining as Ace's posts themselves.

--------

$10/gallon FTW!

Newscum purportedly offered the Valero refinery in Benicia $200 million to stay open -- and to their credit they told him to go pound sand.

The peak number of oil refineries operating in Califzuela historically was 43, which occurred around the time of the 1981 executive order by President Ronald Reagan to increase oil production following the 1970s gasoline shortages.

I think I heard today that there are now just 11 remaining.

It's all too little, too late. Newsom had spent the last 8 months trying to salvage the Valero refinery that's scheduled to shut down in the spring; nothing he did worked, and Valero just said "fuck it, we're closing it."
Some of the most hilarious plans have been for the state to run the refinery itself - the people saying that have no clue how monstrously difficult it is to run a modern refinery! (Hint: one false move by anyone in the facility and the entire thing goes BOOM)

They don't need new wells, they have scads of them hidden behind little partitions all over the state, capped or trickling out some oil. All they need to do is just start the pumps and trucking out the oil.

Once worked in a place as a consultant that had a huge database of all wells in the US, pressure and current flow.

Meaning what?
Posted by: Commissar of plenty and festive little hats at September 24, 2025 04:37 PM (Z1/EE)

I assumed it meant that people have noticed that Soros DAs routinely drop charges for existing gun laws, such as felon in possession, illegal device (auto sear), during commission of another crime, with the serial numbers removed, and so on, or even all at the same time -- but only if the accused is not a productive member of society.

In practice, Democrats are for more guns on the street, in the hands of criminals and crazies; while Republicans are for more guns in the home, in the hands of workers and normies. Choosing between the two, most people prefer the Republican form of gun control, which is to just enforce existing laws, and against Democrats' perverse preference for letting lawless people off the hook.

I wonder how the outsourcing would go under President Newsom. We buy weapons from Pakistan, oil from Russia, grain from Germany? Enter a defense pact with China so they'll guard our borders?
