Texas A&M’s Woke President Finally Forced Out After Persistently Resisting Texas’ Ban on DEI / LGBT Indoctrination

Aggie Corpsman Logo.png

Mark Welsh III is a left-wing proponent of DEI, LGBT indoctrination, and remedying “white privilege.” He also looks dashing in an Air Force officer’s uniform, and he previously served as the Air Force Chief of Staff. That military bearing was apparently enough to hoodwink Texas politicians and the regents at Texas A&M University into appointing him president of the university in 2023.

After persistently working to subvert the ban on DEI and LGBT indoctrination at taxpayer-funded Texas universities, and thanks to one brave student who caught him on tape defending his defiance, Mark Welsh was finally forced to step down last week. This is another important victory for the populist right in uprooting the woke rot that has captured so many institutions.

One Texas state representative, Brian Harrison, deserves huge credit for his unrelenting campaign to drive President Welsh out of the academic office he was unfit for.

“Texas A&M President Steps Down After LGBT Course Controversy” [Texas Scorecard – 9/18/2025]

Welsh’s resignation caps a period of public uproar sparked by his handling of a children’s literature course that included instruction on introducing LGBT and gender identity material to children as young as three.

The situation came under public scrutiny after State Rep. Brian Harrison (R–Midlothian) released audio of a student objecting to the curriculum and subsequent allegations that the student was kicked out of class for expressing concerns about transgender indoctrination. Initially, Welsh defended the professor involved but later reversed himself—firing the instructor and removing the department head and dean from their posts.

Further below is an embedded Twitter chain that includes the student’s hidden recording of both the professor who was pushing LGBT indoctrination for small children, as well as President Welsh’s strident defense of the professor, which also constituted a strident refusal to comply with the law and with the orders of the governor of Texas.

When the student met with President Welsh, he asked her: ”Tell me what exactly you want changed. I mean, you’re, you’re just trying to pick a fight here. What do you want.”

To which she replied, “No sir, I’m not trying to pick a fight.”

After a little more chatter, Welsh asked the student, “What do you expect us to do, fire her?”

The student replied, “Yes, absolutely, because it goes against…”

At which point President Welsh cut her off and scolded her, “Well that’s not happening.”

Regarding why a children’s literature class is providing training on LGBT indoctrination, President Welch told the student, there is a “professional reason” why A&M is using taxpayer funds to promote transgenderism for children.

Once Rep. Harrison released the audio, Mark Welsh went into CYA mode. Despite what he had told the student, Welsh did indeed have to ultimately fire the instructor and also the dean, hoping that action would be enough to take the heat off of him. But Aggie alumni were outraged, and soon Governor Abbott and the A&M regents were feeling the heat too. Welsh had to go.

Mark Welsh was a disastrous hire from the start. President Obama had previously appointed him as Air Force Chief of Staff in 2012 (which also put Welsh on the armed forces’ Joint Chiefs of Staff) for the purpose of injecting radical left wing identity politics into the military. How radical is Welsh? He advocated for the concept of “white privilege,” stating in 2020 that “While we could argue over the definition of ‘White Privilege,’ there is no question in my mind that it exists. I should know, I grew up with it. Not because I wanted it; not because I asked for it: not because my family or I agreed with it; not because I tried to take advantage of it; and not because I, or anyone else I knew, actively promoted it or even thought about it; but just because it was a reality in our country, and I was white .”

Rep. Harrison sent a widely distributed letter to Governor Abbott on September 8, 2025 that left Abbott and the university regents with little choice but to dismiss Welsh, it read:

Governor Abbott:

This January, during your State of the State Address, you stated that “any educator who tells students that boys can be girls should be fired on the spot.” I agree. While I provided your office with a binder almost a foot thick full of examples of this and DEI occurring in our public universities back in February, nothing has been done to stop it. During my short time in the Texas legislature I have become aware that Texas may be the biggest promoter and funder of DEI and LGBTQ indoctrination in America, and I must make you aware of perhaps the most egregious instance I have uncovered.

I’ve had a Texas A&M whistleblower student provide my office with video evidence of her being kicked out of a “CHILDREN’S LITERATURE” class after she objected to persistent transgender and DEI indoctrination.

Students were forced to learn the “gender unicorn,” which propagandizes extreme transgender ideology. The taxpayer funded professor also taught what could be considered encouragement to engage in criminal child grooming and gave instructional materials that stated: “why talk about queerness at all [in Children’s literature]? Isn’t that way too “adult” for little kids? Well, no.” During a class instruction on “let’s talk gender in children’s lit,” the professor taught that “childhood is the time for figuring out how to be a boy, girl, man, woman, or another gender” and that “children and adolescents are expected to be sexless, even as our culture valorizes, idealizes, and even eroticizes youth.”

After objecting to such instruction occurring, the student was ordered to leave the class and told she was not welcome to return. The whistleblower went to President Welsh, whose indefensible response was to defend the teacher, state that he will not consider firing her, and defend the decision for Texas A&M to teach this material because it was needed training for future public school administrators.

Your office will be given video and audio recordings that corroborate this. While the legislature chose not to stop DEI and LGBTQ indoctrination in our public universities, you have the power to end it.

I am respectfully requesting that you, in line with your January directive, (1) direct your politically appointed regents at Texas A&M to immediately fire this professor and President Welsh, (2) direct all of your politically appointed regents at all of our public universities to immediately take all necessary action necessary to rid all DEI and LGBTQ activity and instruction, and (3) call the legislature back for a special session to finally pass a total ban on taxpayer funded DEI and LGBTQ indoctrination within any state agency, including our public universities.

Thank you for your consideration,

Brian Harrison

The chancellor of the Texas A&M university system, Glenn Hegar, also needs to be fired. He has never stopped defending President Welsh, nor will he acknowledge that Welsh did anything wrong. But having removed Welsh under duress, Chancellor Hegar is still gushing praise on the disgraced university president, making the incoherent argument that Welsh did nothing wrong, yet he had to go, but he’s still a man of honor and integrity. In other words, Chancellor Hegar has just announced that he himself is also unfit for a leadership role at A&M and he too needs to be dismissed of his responsibilities. Hegar is quoted in this CBS piece dated 9/18/2025 as stating, “President Welsh is a man of honor who has led Texas A&M with selfless dedication. We are grateful for his service and contributions. At the same time, we agree that now is the right moment to make a change and to position Texas A&M for continued excellence in the years ahead.”

UPDATE: The Texas A&M University system has a campus in Victoria. This news just broke after I wrote today’s piece, but before publishing it: “The Finalist for Texas A&M – Victoria President Has Extensive DEI History”

The finalist for president of Texas A&M-Victoria has pervasive experience with left-wing causes such as “diversity,” “equity,” and “sustainability.” Christian Hardigree was named the sole finalist for the presidency of Texas A&M-Victoria following a special called meeting of the Texas A&M System Board of Regents on September 18.

Texas Scorecard reviewed Hardigree’s official curriculum vitae and LinkedIn profile. Hardigree’s CV contains three references to “equity,” eleven references to “diversity” and nineteen references to “sustainability.”

Regent Chairman Bob Albritton called Hardigree “exactly the kind of leader who can help Texas A&M-Victoria thrive.”

Texas A&M needs an intervention. Governor Abbott needs to fire Chancellor Hegar, fire all the regents, and start over with a leadership that is not hostile to the values of a majority of Texans. If Governor Abbott will not cleanse the state’s universities of radical left-wing administrators, perhaps it’s time to start talking about Governor Brian Harrison taking on that challenge.

Embedded below is the series of tweets from Representative Harrison, including the audio of the Texas A&M student’s interaction with her professor and with President Welch.

5 It's absurd how many tinpot leftist wannabee dictators are allowed in supposedly deep red jurisdictions. A school board in a very rural area here in PA is in trouble for trying to stop local families homeschooling their children. They were violating state law. Doubtless some fat, middle-aged AWFLs were responsible, yet this nonsense will continue unless these people are actively rooted out of institutions.

The change in the GOP is...curious. It's both top down and bottom up. The bottom electing Trump has accelerated the change of the party at a shocking pace (10 years ago, the GOP was arguing about how much illegal immigration to tolerate).

That leaves the middle, squeezing out and lasting as long as possible.

Also, state politics is deeply, deeply corrupt. Can't forget that. Someone's probably getting paid.

24 I have two entries in the category of leftists defying the will of the people.

1) The president of UVa was recently removed by a board of Youngkin-selected alumni for being a leftist d***. The university sent my wife their alumni magazine, which was dedicated to why those people are fascists, and must be resisted. They're trying to find another leftist to fill the slot.

The former president, James E. Ryan, left in July following a campaign waged against him by the Department of Justice and a conservative Virginia alumni group, the Jefferson Council, that led a multiyear crusade attacking the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs...Members of the university’s board, who are appointees of Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, said at the meeting Monday that they hoped to select a new permanent president within four to six months.

- Most red state politicians fall into the category labelled 'liars'.
- Most red state voters fall into the category labelled 'inattentive'.

This means that uniparty types will seek power within the state party apparatus and help push forward uniparty types to positions of power. The solution is to ensure that positions of power do not exist. That government is as small and powerless as can be managed. Sadly, item 2 above works against this.

Four suspects have been arrested, including a restoration specialist at the museum who confessed to giving the bracelet to an acquaintance who owns a silver shop in Cairo's Sayyeda Zainab district. It was allegedly later sold to the owner of a gold workshop for the equivalent of about $3,800. It was eventually sold for around $4,000 to a worker at another gold workshop, who melted the bracelet down to make other gold jewelry.

Unpopular opinion, but he deserves it for allowing one of his professors to be fired because of maga. As the president of the university you should protect your staff.

Putting business men (due to their contributions) on public boards like the Regents is why. Business types aim for pleasing the lowest common denominator aka shop values rather than principle. So they go along to get along.

These types have led to leftists running wild in universities because these governing boards refuse to address the corrosion by firings, etc. that are needed to reverse course. Instead, they rely on soothing blather from gasbags like Welch that circumvent existing laws and regulations but might cause a 'fuss' if the Board actually got involved in righting the ship.

All headhunting firms for college executives aka presidents/chancellors, etc also need to be permanently disemployed. These are the ones that always lately give one name or so to the boards which almost always rubberstamp them.

++++
Perhaps. It is more likely, however, that the same factor was in play that has been in play since at least the Interwar period, and for which we are paying dearly now: absence of care.

The reason the Gramscian March succeeded is that nobody cared. "Universities? Who cares? Give them who they want."
That begot many things.
"Schools? Who cares? Give them who they want."
"Charities? Who cares? Give them who they want."
"Board rooms? Who cares? Give them who they want."
and so on to today.

Were they hoodwinked by some bearing or another? Perhaps so, but I doubt it. More likely, they didn't care. Normals have never cared. Until recently, anyway. Now, we have been made to care.

Which is, in fact, true.

The profession of teaching - and of training teachers - places high value on Critical Theory in all its forms. They *must* promote the various Critical Theories. Race, Sex, Class, etc. All of them. But A&M is a real outlier...that its administration is trying to run like a female finishing school it seems.

Doesn't matter what the rest of the spread is. Once it hits 45% male, the university will die.

It turns out that girls - unless going to an all-girls school - don't want to go to college nearly so much if there aren't boys there, too. Not nearly so many women chasing an "MRS Degree" as there used to be, but it's still there - even if it's merely "to bed" rather than "to wed."

The planter aristocracy was not always so blind in the Revolutionary era as the inevitable failure of slavery but the massive wealth enabled by cotton cultivation and the opening of new lands to the west by the LA purchase among other things led to a slavery now, slavery forever among the newer generations.

Ironically, the ban on importing new slaves made Thomas Jefferson and James Madison reliant on breeding and selling slaves to planters in the West. By the 1820's, the oldest slave states had declining fertility in the soil and slavery never was the best agrarian model to use to preserve it. And that made these types in coastal areas dependent on selling slaves or renting them out (like Frederick Douglass was) as their income stream.

Those planters in turn pushed never ending expansion of slavery to the West to resolve their own miserable financial problems.

Engineering is the one major still male predominant and Texas A&M has a good engineering program.

But yes, once the m-f margin hits over 60 percent female, both males and females regard that school as less desirable. Many schools took up football also after years of not having them because it is a selling point to males--males are less interested in schools without football apparently from surveys.

As sad as it is to say it, I think that the university system needs to be shut down totally so it can be built back up. In the interim, we are going to have to kill Griggs v. K-12 education is also going to have to be fixed but as long as the universities are poison chalices breeding new indoctrinated ones, then you have to fix the supply of new teachers first before tackling the government school system.

199 As far as the Kimmel thing goes I always assumed that Kimmel knew his show was doomed and that his contract would not be renewed. So he staged a situation where he got ever more obscene to ensure he became a "heroic free speech martyr" so he doesn't feel inferior to Colbert.

ABC could honestly broadcast reruns of 40 year old shows in Kimmel's timeslot and make more money than they were with Kimmel (or at least, the net profit will be positive).

also I wanted to mass delete my comments, but YT does not allow that. You actually have to manually delete them one by one.
so I did the next best thing: I hid my channel. No one can see my prior comments or my channel or anything. I can like or dislike videos but I cannot like a comment or post a comment which is just fine by me.

Kimmel's salary is 15m per year, which means the overall production budget for the show is somewhere north of 75m dollars per year at a minimum, he's now averaging fewer than 2m eyeballs per episode and his ratings in the preferred demo are abysmal.

The Late Night format hasn't made financial sense in over a decade, the advent of Trump merely allowed for a dead cat bounce.

Carr mentioned investigation, not revoking at this point (which legally is unwise to do) and that he will enforce the Fairness doctrine which means that ABC would have to put someone on Kimmel's show to stick Kimmel's lies up his ass. Equal time to present dissenting view of any public statement of fact. And Fairness Doctrine requirements under FCC rules is constitutional right now--see Red Lion Broadcasting case from the 60's.

264 Thieves melt down 3,000-year-old bracelet worn by pharaoh after swiping it from Egyptian museum 😧

-
Ehh, $4000 is $4000.

Let's make sure we return all items "stolen" by evil white colonizers who put these items in museums. Only the indigenous populations have a right to these items and know how to use them best.

'Cutting Off Qatar'

Texas A&M’s Board of Regents voted to shutter its long-standing, hugely profitable branch campus in the Gulf country. Are accusations of Hamas ties to blame?

A common refrain regarding Trump's enforcement of immigration law is that it's tyrannical specifically because the law hasn't been enforced in years, sometimes decades.

Trump understands completely that America has a shit ton of laws and regulations that haven't been enforced in decades, just like immigration law.

The only limit on how much damage he can cause is time and manpower.

He's not taking the whole trying to put him in jail thing well.

LOL.

There's a practical reason that will never happen, which is that it would force acknowledgement that God-King Bob Iger failed. It they sold Lucasfilm, what would they get for it? Indiana Jones is now a poison property. Star Wars is now a poison property. Hell, even Willow is now a poison property. All it has left of real value at this point is the technical production house (ILM). There is probably some rump value left in the IP, but that would be a *very* long-term play, and so it isn't worth much. Some merchandising rights on original Star Wars is about the only thing still of practical, current value in terms of the IP, along with some (comparatively) low-value video game rights.

If they sold Lucasfilm, my bet is that they'd get under a billion for it, whoever bids on it. No way Iger and his Board will permit a formal acknowledgment that they destroyed 75% of the value they paid for when they bought the enterprise.

My grandfather was Class of 1926 at Texas A&M College with a degree in Chemical Engineering. In those days it was male only and everyone was in the Corps of Cadets, what would later be called ROTC. He turned down a commission as a 2nd Lt. in the Army upon graduation. The big change came in 1968 when the campus went coed and being in the Corps was no longer mandatory. When I went there (Class of 1980) most students weren’t in the Corps, but the student body was still more men than women. The students were, and still are, as far as I know, strongly conservative, despite efforts at indoctrination otherwise. This may have changed since my day, but it’s still the stereotype: TAMU students are right wing, UT students (that small secular school down the road) are wild-eyed lefties!

We need the courage and steadfastness of the Crusaders to stand up against the forces of evil. This is a spiritual war and the various factions of insane leftards are the multi-pronged attacks against God's creation.

288 26 WTF is it with "red state" pols tolerating far left bullshit?

- Most red state politicians fall into the category labelled 'liars'.
- Most red state voters fall into the category labelled 'inattentive'.

This means that uniparty types will seek power within the state party apparatus and help push forward uniparty types to positions of power. The solution is to ensure that positions of power do not exist. That government is as small and powerless as can be managed. Sadly, item 2 above works against this.

Posted by: State Rep Ken King at September 22, 2025 01:14 PM (MrWte)

289 111 Texas A&M needs an intervention.
