Biden's Chief of Staff Jeff Zients: After the Debate, I Suggested Biden Take a Cognitive Test (which He Refused)

I wrote about this last week, based on National Review reporting by Audrey Fahlberg.

Former White House chief of staff Jeff Zients revealed to Congress Thursday that former President Joe Biden's memory and decision-making capability deteriorated while in office, according to a source familiar with the ex-aide's transcribed interview.
Zients, who declined to answer reporter questions, also told the House Oversight Committee that he told White House physician Kevin O'Connor that Biden should have "a full medical workup" -- including a cognitive exam -- after his disastrous June 27, 2024, debate performance, added the source.
In that forum, the Democrat stumbled over his words, spoke with a soft and raspy voice, and delivered non-sequiturs about public policy -- declaring at one point that his administration had "finally beat Medicare."
Biden's campaign and White House flacks dismissed the fumbles at the time, claiming the president had a "cold" -- though he was spotted within minutes of the debate's end at a Waffle House.
But Zients claimed the "mental freezes" aides observed were unprecedented, the source related.

"Unprecedented." We in the public saw them all the time, but Biden's chief of staff never, ever saw them before. He swears. Def don't indict him for perjury.

Ex-senior White House communications adviser Anita Dunn and former national security adviser Jake Sullivan apparently stressed the importance of a cognitive exam, while former Cabinet officials such as Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and VA Secretary Denis McDonough -- as well as Secretary of State Antony Blinken -- didn't think Biden had the juice for a second term.

Several donors also expressed alarm, with one suggesting that the president's use of a teleprompter to address an intimate campaign fundraiser was concerning.

Over the course of a six-hour grilling by Oversight staff, Zients also revealed that Biden began having "difficulty remembering dates and names," while "decisions that once required three meetings eventually began to require a fourth," according to the first source.

Those age-related issues were also a subject of conversation in the West Wing throughout the former president's term, with first lady Jill Biden asking that her husband not be "over-scheduled" and be allowed to "return to the residence" earlier in the day, this person said.

This codger "worked" from the crack of 11am to Early Bird Special midnight, 4pm.

[Biden's neurologist and dementia doctor] O'Connor, who purportedly considered giving Biden the cognitive test, and Jill Biden's chief of staff Anthony Bernal previously pleaded the Fifth Amendment and declined to answer questions from the Republican-led panel -- and Zients spoke with both of them about the president's "age issues," according to the first source.

This isn't in the story, but we've heard this before: Supposedly, when it was proposed that Biden take a cognitive test -- I mean, one they would disclose to the public; I'm 100% sue-me certain that they gave him ones before that he'd failed -- they decided against it because there was no political upside for Biden.

Well, there would have been a political upside if he passed it, because by then 60% of the public said publicly that he was mentally impaired and the other 40% lied.

So when they say there would be no "political upside," that's because they knew he'd already begun failing them in 2015.

Harris was Kalorama's candidate. Cuomo was the Clinton faction's, and they were hanging on for dear life at that point.

But Cuomo flamed out before he could start and Harris couldn't get a vote to save her life after Gabbard dismantled her. Bloomberg was throwing hundreds of millions around and getting nowhere - but causing disruption to normal machinery. Something had to be done. Kalorama and the Clintons were stuck, and the Party was left in a Mexican Standoff.

The compromise was Biden. A Kalorama creature, but one with enough favors owed everywhere (including to the Clinton faction), and who could be controlled by a Politburo dominated by Kalorama, but not with their total control.

It was disaster caused by the failure of all factions' preferred candidates, leaving the least-best option as the only way forward.

Last time I saw her she confided that her children keep taking her to neurosurgeon to get her diagnosed with dementia.

I told her she does not have dementia. I have cared for two women in various stages of dementia, and she does not exhibit the signs or symptoms. For example, I asked her to provide three different phone numbers for me, and she went through them without skipping a beat.
A dementia sufferer has a real problem with numbers and numerical values. Doubtful she would have been able to provide me even one without a stutter or stumble.

( I had asked for the numbers, not as a test, but because I really needed them.)

There was a reason that Clyburn was lobbying hard to get a presidential clemency pardon. Biden's mental state was part of it. But, the big deal with him is that he's the lynchpin behind all the fraudulent voting in all the swing states. Why a politician with little recognizability was making trips to all those states in advance of the election in 2020 and 2024 is still a "mystery."

I'm convinced that they were depending on him to get the machine running in 2024, but he pulled back because he doesn't like Harris AT ALL, and was loyal to Biden. You might recall Harris (upon receiving bad news throughout election day) making a statement that we should wait to see things are around 2am. The reference was that Clyburn was going to do his magic (just like in 2020) and Harris would be ahead at that point with all the fraudulent drops in the wee hours. Only, he never gave the order. At the same time Lara Trump was firing off attorneys to all trouble spots which they didn't do in 2020. And, it was harder to initiate for the Dems.

I *strongly* suspect that it was an exceedingly dangerous cocktail. It's why I think they tried to prevent public appearances fewer than three days apart. The real problem is that such curves are precluded entirely. Mises called it the "Calculation Problem" and was correct.

That also isn't a full answer. It is a practical description of a mechanical problem in socialism, but the root problem is that it is not fit for men. There's a reason it depends on a "new" kind of man. It literally cannot be practiced by people.

Basically, I have relatively stable stocks with decent premiums, and sell weekly calls. BTU, BKR, BWA, HE, SJM, LCRX, GNTX, JACK (lol), and a few others. Been rolling up LCRX as it goes up. I will be screwed if it drops back down.

Most of the time the options expired worthless, so I keep the cash.
