Willowed, of course.
The issue of marque and reprisal was raised before Congress after the September 11 attacks and again by Congressman Ron Paul on July 21, 2007. The attacks were defined as acts of "air piracy" and the Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001 was introduced, which would have granted the president the authority to use letters of marque and reprisal against the specific terrorists, instead of warring against a foreign state. The terrorists were compared to pirates in that they are difficult to fight by traditional military means. On April 15, 2009, Paul also advocated the use of letters of marque to address the issue of Somali pirates operating in the Gulf of Aden. However, the bills Paul introduced were not enacted into law. A petard is a type of small, bucket-shaped or conical explosive device used in ancient warfare to breach walls or force open gates by detonating a gunpowder mixture against them. The term also refers to a type of firecracker, and comes from the French word "pétarder," meaning "to break wind". But people want high seas shenanigans to stop. Fine. Write a law, pass it, have the President sign it. That's how it's supposed to work. Posted by: BurtTC at September 17, 2025 09:02 PM (7D9XB) 20

Grok on Commentator Wesley Crusher:
Wesley Crusher appears to be a pseudonym adopted by a commenter on the Ace of Spades HQ blog, a right-leaning political commentary site known for its irreverent, satirical tone and focus on current events, culture, and conservative perspectives. The name is a clear reference to the character Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: TNG, suggesting the commenter may embrace a geeky, sci-fi enthusiast persona, possibly with a self-deprecating or ironic twist given the blog's audience. "Wesley Crusher" is characterized as a frequent, witty contributor who engages in: Humorous and Sarcastic Commentary: Posts often feature pop culture references, puns, and light-hearted jabs at liberal politics, media, or celebrities, aligning with the blog's house style of "moron horde" banter. Active Participation: Shows up in threads on topics like elections, TV shows, or internet memes, indicating a regular reader since at least the mid-2010s, though exact activity peaks around election cycles. Overall, Wesley Crusher embodies the quintessential AoSHQ commenter: smart, snarky, and unapologetically partisan, using sci-fi flair to spice up political discourse. Trump was gob-smacked by Kate. William and Kate were the ones to greet the Trumps at the helicopter, and then walk them to formally introduce them to the King. When Kate shook hands with Trump, he said, "Wow, you're so beautiful!" And of course lavished praise on her in his remarks at the state dinner. Seating was interesting. A guy on talk radio suggested that maybe the assassin WAS a groyper, because groypers are so ironic. And that text exchange with his roommate was so strange. This is a week after the assassination! Never mind all the trans Discord accounts with apparent prior knowledge of the assassination plans.
That analysis was just before the Jimmy Kimmel news hit. As far as I can recall, the best piece of evidence of a groyper connection was that there was a Spotify music list with an Italian antifascist song title mentioned, which matched something on or with the bullet casings. My brother learned that song in Italy 50 years ago as a 'familiar folk song'. No Groyper or Antifa connection on his part. Posted by: KT at September 17, 2025 09:24 PM (7vIsy) 100

BurtTC,
I have disagreements, naturally, but you force me to have a good counterpoint if I do. When it comes to the blowing up of drug boats, my take is this: These are international narco-terrorists, bringing in deadly drugs from Venezuela to the U.S, in a boat on the high seas; drone cameras show the bales of drugs. They are fair game, just as piracy is fair game. I know I'm stretching Maritime Law a bit, but that's my take. International drug smuggling is sometimes a capital offense with no trial. Ah, the Goldens, Ace, my love.
When son and DIL got their first golden pup, they crated him when they were at work for six months. Son ignored me when I said it was too early to let him out. They came home from lunch one day to the pup's fenced off area in the kitchen/family room. Feathers flying in the air. Pup proud. He'd destroyed his new dog bed by whacking in around and ripping the feathers out. Then a cheap tv table fell over and he took a bit out of the particle board. This led to a book falling off and he ate most of the book...plus part of a Bic pen. Found a few bites in the cord to the tv. Son called the vet who said to watch him. Oh, he watched him poop white from the book for two days. They then crated him months longer when they were not around. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at September 17, 2025 09:37 PM (6PCLE) 152

Today we were to settle up, since I left town recently when my mother got sick, and then died. He said, in light of what happened, he wasn't going to charge me for the services. I told him I wanted to argue with him on it, that he has been reliable and dependable, and is doing me a great service whenever he comes over. I asked him to please take the money, but that it was his decision. He opted not to take it. I told him he is what gives me hope for this world, that there are yoots like himself in it. Posted by: BurtTC at September 17, 2025 09:32 PM (7D9XB) I'm fairly certain piracy is defined in Maritime Law. I know those pirates over there pretty much everywhere attacking boats are righteously sent to Davey Jones' Locker. No court. No trial. These drug boats failed an order to stop based upon that drone footage. Being on the open ocean outside of any countries' legal limit is different. England patroled the seas looking for slave ships at one point, stopping them and freeing the slaves. When you're in international waters, things are different. Plus, that's why we have a Navy, to protect our shores. Now if you think Congress should be involved in something like this, I'm not so sure. To me, it's like the raid on Iran. With Kimmel getting canned I’m seeing lots of people talking about the hypocrisy of cancel culture. To me Cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc looking for dirt on somebody they don’t like in an effort to get them fired. Like if Kimmel got canceled for shit he did on the Man Show that would be cancel culture. But when a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time and then that person is punished for it that’s not cancel culture. That is consequences for your actions Posted by: Mister Ghost at September 17, 2025 09:49 PM (TGPs7) 189

>>My only beef? Hit them in American waters, not international waters.
>>American waters go out 12 miles. Why? As was noted above since 2001, after the 9/11 attack, the president has the authority to attack designated terrorist organization to attack terrorist groups. Tren de Aragua is a Venezuelan government sponsored terrorist group that has been attacking the US for years. They bring drugs that kill thousands, probably hundreds of thousands, and crime. They are for all intents a foreign military attacking the US with different kinds of weapons that harm and kill Americans. Trump isn't just tossing darts at random boats. We have significant assets in the Gulf and we are watching them load boats with drugs headed for the US. We have frigging drones that know what you are eating for dinner if they want, they know what these boats are carrying. Take out killers before they get close to the coast. Doesn't bother in the least. Posted by: JackStraw at September 17, 2025 09:50 PM (viF8m) Posted by: Boss Moss at September 17, 2025 09:50 PM (fsbop) 195

While Lady Melania can wear anything and any color, and she did not ask me, but I think she should have chosen a soft pale yellow to honor the queen's love of yellow. Her favorite flower was actually delicate lily of the valley.
What I don't like about the gown is the belt. She should have put some bling there. At the table, not seeing the belt, she looks fine. I also understand her not wanting to "outshine" the queen. I would never want to be seated next to Lady Melania, and in my time I could hold my own. However, her beauty is stunning. Those eyes of hers could pin down anyone and make them stutter. Her beauty never needs big jewelry, as she often wears diamond studs. I also understand the hat on arrival. A hat draws attention to your face. I was told this when I wore a hat with a veil in my wedding with my hair up. Hats are wonderful things, ladies. I have many. I understand her role in Trump 2 is not to focus on fussy dresses; but she is so gorgeous I wish she'd worn something like Princess Catherine. However, she is the First Lady and has her reasons. President Trump seems to be behaving. I am glad Secretary Rubio made it as well. Tiffany Trump also looked lovely. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at September 17, 2025 10:05 PM (6PCLE) 237
I'm fairly certain piracy is defined in Maritime Law. I know those pirates over there pretty much everywhere attacking boats are righteously sent to Davey Jones' Locker. No court. No trial.
——— Yes, but the failure theater “can’t get there from here” squishes in government don’t want people to know that any longer. They might be expected to do something, and that just isn’t cricket, you see. We saw this kind of thing in this country after the first WTC bombing. The “rules of war” might sound a little strange but there are many. The Clinton toadies in his administration wanted everything treated as garden variety criminal matters, with trials and attorneys and the rest of it. US and international law is unequivocal, combatants must wear an identifiable uniform and carry any weapons openly, among a great many other requirements (rank structure, assigned unit, ID cards, etc) If they do not adhere to these requirements , they are unlawful enemy combatants and have absolutely no rights whatsoever. Certainly not a fucking circus trial in Manhattan. Hang ‘em at dawn tomorrow.Washington, DC surrendered decades ago, they never told anyone though Posted by: Common Tater at September 17, 2025 10:06 PM (/4VRy) 238
