Under Pressure, Fed Chair Jerome Powell, Who Reduced Interest Rates for Biden's Election Despite 9% Inflation, Begrudgingly Lowers Interest Rates By the Slightest Amount Possible

One thin, tiny 0.25% reduction in rates, despite the revelation that nearly two million of the jobs "created by Biden" 2023-2025 were completely fictitious and thus real unemployment is higher than the Bureau of Lying about Statistics ever hinted.

From the WSJ. Remember, for Biden he reduced interest rates, despite inflation still being very, very "transitory," but for Trump...

The Federal Reserve approved a quarter-point interest rate cut Wednesday, the first in nine months, with officials judging that recent labor-market softness outweighed setbacks on inflation.

A narrow majority of officials penciled in at least two additional cuts this year, implying consecutive moves at the Fed's two remaining meetings in October and December. The projections hint at a broader shift toward concern about cracks forming in the job market in an environment complicated by major policy shifts that have made the economy harder to read.

The Fed's carefully drafted post-meeting statement pointed to those concerns when it said the rate cut was justified "in light of the shift in the balance of risks." The statement no longer described the labor market as "solid." Officials also removed a key phrase that had been used this year to tamp down expectations of rate cuts, further underscoring how reductions at upcoming and consecutive policy meetings have become more likely.

26 WHEEE! Election year recession, here we come! I don’t fault the Fed, they are truly between a rock and a hard place with inflation heating up along with unemployment numbers.

The economic destruction from tariffs and immigration raids has forced their hand. For those who don’t remember the 70’s, this was called Stagflation.

Economy seems to be slowing, but interest rate cuts won't do the trick. Getting rid of the trash in the WH (and his idiot policies) would go a lot more further in boosting the future prospects. tRUMP w/ his stupid policies on/off in tariffs, etc. has confused the markets and investors to no end.

Remember how Volcker defeated stagflation? Intentionally increasing rates sky high to cause a recession. Unemployment rate was over 10%. One of many factors handing the presidency to Reagan in 1980. MRGA Make Recession Great Again!

Biden and Obama were both saddled with badly crippled economies. Dems have experience fixing what GOP breaks.

This isn't the same problem as the 70s. Wage growth is actually increasing and outpacing inflation.

The idea that Biden's economy was good at all is so laughable that I must laugh. 16 million jobs added total with 10-11 million illegals allowed to come in and another 6 or so legal immigrants.

Remember, the tariffs have now been in place for about 4 months.

And we're still waiting for inflation to kick in.

Tariffs are immediate price increases on imports. Those effects should be very fast to show up. You can see it in individual prices, but...that's not inflation. Inflation is dollars chasing goods.

All government taxes and fees have deflationary effects because they increase the amount of dollars required to do existing behavior without increasing the money supply at the same time. This discourages money flow. It's a mild effect, nothing huge, but if it goes any way, tariffs deflate, they don't inflate the money supply.

Exactly. What do you think the 10 & 30 would’ve done after a 50 cut? The fed can not bigly cut when the bond market is so aggressively against doing so.

I’m told we’re doing this for the housing market… so what happens when we get to a full percentage point cut and mortgage rates are higher and inflation is also higher.. it’s literally the most simple economics. People should be able to grasp this easily and understand the rhetoric from Trump is both scary and wrong on this subject.

150 4.5% rate is pretty low, maybe it is The Right Rate, idk. Does anyone know The Right Rate?

If there is a Plan (Trust the Plan, Q), then it seems to be to get control of the out of control debt ... by

1. Lower rates to inflate our way out ... inflation that will be seen in stock market gains, and Bond Market gains (Bond Market gets caps because I hear it is like 8x the size of the stock market. But that doesn't get into the DERIVATVE MARKETS, which apparently, are able to go to infinity with no oversight)

2. Remove 1-4 million illegals per year. This will inflate wages for Americans, while perhaps keeping CPI under control.

3. Remove/Arrest the DeepState piece by piece. This includes cutting off the NGO (e.g. USAID) massive graft machine, which is used to elect Dems and fund anti-American activities.

4. I need a drink, before I come up with #4 and more. hiccup.

162 I doubt this would work and Trump will be too exhausted but Obama/Hillary DID foul his 1st term. Part of the penalty for that should be it doesnt count as a full term as far as the 22nd Amnendment is concerned.

I would love to hear Trump suggest as much just to make the Left lose it

147 Or backyard neighbors are putting in a pool, which is fine, they might have the smallest back yard in the hood so it is smaller for a pool, however, it is not deep enough for somebody to drown in , and thats a thing. Nor am I an ABC reporter looking for man dates.

There was a "public service" thing they used to run, and chubby man walking the street at night, he hears some footsteps coming behind him. Sweat dripping off his forehead, he dare not look behind. Until, out of breath and in a panic, he stops, turns around... sees a couple almost adult age Boy Scouts. Suddenly the man feels safe.

Good thing they used a fat old guy in the commercial, and not a 9 year old Cub Scout.

I'd heard from "down south" guys that had hunted at my place, that some big builders had whole communities of foreign workers (working for them as builders) buying their houses, with very strict controls on the foreigners keeping up with payments. This was probably five years ago.

Not sure if they were all illegals, but sounded like it.

I don't know what he intends, but what he is accomplishing is causing the European Central Bank and the Bank of England massive pain since they have a lot of outstanding debt backed by the short term Treasury Bills Sec Janet Yellen sold them at zero interest, and they Euros and the Brits need to roll them over, and now have to pay lots of extra for transaction.
They and the Canadians have to cut their rates, which makes inflation, which makes Dollars that much more attractive.

Before the Federal Reserve act, each State bank (except Oregon of course) could issue its own currency, and many state chartered banks could as well, if they all had bullion reserves to cover the notes. Under the current system the Federal Reserve Banks can issue credit to smaller banks for loans, and to the US Treasury in exchange for Treasuries and promises to repay.
Under the GENIUS act, qualifying banks will be allowed to issue stablecoins at 100% (which for some reason is actually 103%) of their holdings in Treasury notes. Dave's Bait, Tackle and Bank can issue (or have Tether issue it for them) stablecoins on assumption of Treasuries notes from the Treasury - and I suspect they can issue on Treasuries they buy from other institutions and foreign hodlers. This sidesteps the Fed system for small and medium loans, and lets the fed banks go back to their business specialties of big industrial and Interational loans and maintaing LIBOR and stuff.

Posted by: Kindltot at September 17, 2025 05:59 PM (rbvCR)

279 I actually meant "holders" but Hodlers counts too, since some stablecoin issuers plan on holding bullion and bitcoin as reserve for their stablecoins to make them extra hard
