Anyway, using my usual Spanish Civil War prism, the biggest danger is that the GOPe once more craps the bed, does nothing, Trump goes after the killer but the FBI leaves the networks intact so that the law-abiding right (reasonably) concludes that even when the government is in friendly hands, it is useless.
Having watched the ICE raids, National Guard deployments, etc. I do not think that will happen.

I don't think its far off to say that those on the lunatic fringe don't get (no matter how much hyperbole they spout) that the game fundamentally changed the moment Trump was right restored to the Presidency. I think if Joe Vegetable or the drunken slut had been cheated into a win, it would have been "business as usual" and half or more of these firings wouldn't have taken place--the businesses would have been afraid of become Federal targets of retaliation.

Bless him, his military instincts kicked in and he helped people stay calm and get to safety. He totally downplayed his own actions, he clearly was uncomfortable with Stephen's praise, but I'm so glad he was there. Off topic, but did any of you ever visit the "Yellow Board" back in the day? It was a mostly whack-job collection of alternative-finance theory postings, with all sorts of conspiracy stuff related to the various "Knights of _____" secret societies and daft assertions about "European" financial instruments that yielded 150% a year returns..but only if you knew who to go through to get them. It was a relatively entertaining place to kill time.

If there was a civil war, conservatives already have ALL of the democrat strongholds (metropolitan areas) surrounded, even in California. Conservatives own most of the guns and nearly all of the ammunition. You will be isolated from food, water, electricity and transportation they day the "war" starts. Los Angeles and other cities can be deprived of water by literally shutting off valves and stationing armed guards there.

I am struck by the thought that 9/10 is in a way our 10/7. Yes, it was just one man, not a thousand-plus, and no babies were cooked alive in ovens. But there was no social media after 9/11, only an Internet that was still emerging from the realm of us geeks and into the mainstream. There were reports of people dancing and celebrating the mass murder, but the "press" was ever eager to bury that information, and we were easily distracted by the focus on the AQ culprits and the three-week truce offered by the Left (although in some cases it was just a few hours) before they started calling for our heads again.
But this time, it's all out there on social media; they're openly *bragging* about their hate, counting coup on the kindest and best of us. Just as the Jew-haters did on 10/7 and the days after, crowing about their side's "victory" over the much-despised enemy (i.e., anyone who opposed them in any way) that had tried to fight with words instead of bullets. The masks have fallen, and we can see them clearly now.
