It's time for another episode of … The Blade's Garage of Awesomeness! In today's episode we do … not talk about the new Ferrari "F173M" replacement for the SF90 that was showed yesterday. Ferrari has foolishly decided to call the new car the "Testarossa." I don't like it. Maybe I'll talk about it another day.
Today, we talk about something less exotic: the new Honda Prelude. The Prelude is a popular name from the 1990s that Honda put on a sporty coupe and gave car enthusiasts without big bucks something to buy. It was a showcase for then-new technology, like 4-wheel steering and the DOHC "VTEC" engine. So the new Prelude carries forward the tradition, right? Umm ... nah. It's a Civic Hybrid under a controversially-styled coupe body. I kind of like the looks. Nobody has driven it yet, so who knows how well it carries forward the legacy. The truth is that a lot of people are careless with firearms and allowing them open carry in a store means that inevitably they will draw their pride and joy to show someone else. Open carry in 9/10 use cases is for idiots and wannabe tough guys.
Nothing says "shoot me first" like having a 1911 dangling off your hip in public -------------------- The only plausible argument I've heard for open carry, aside from "MUH RIGHTS," is that one can theoretically draw faster than from concealed carry. Also, parents are required to be present and participating in the schooling process. Posted by: Bulg Depends on a lot of factors for accuracy. If the ground is disturbed like plowing, etc. then GPR or the magnetic survey is much less accurate at detecting what is below. Soil type can also matter. Open carry was the default in a lot of places. A permit was required if you wanted to carry concealed.
Open carry was outlawed in California (long rifles) when (after) the “Black Panthers” started hanging around the Capitol building in Sacramento wearing fatigues and berets with shotguns and rifles. Just exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. But open carry is a tool, in the toolbox, it ought not to be unlawful nor the only choice. Posted by: sniffybigtoe at September 10, 2025 02:14 PM (Atyjf) Of course they did. Everyone in the mainstream media spent eight years in the Obama administration openly ridiculing the old bumbling fool and his constant gaffes. But in the following four years, something happened. Joe Biden was transformed. Far from growing older, and more bumbling and foolish, it's as if the hands of time pinwheeled backward, and the world was introduced to a new Biden - the avuncular and stern, yet oddly sensual skipper of the US Ship of State, staring down America's enemies with a steely gaze from behind his aviator sunglasses. But open carry is a tool, in the toolbox, it ought not to be unlawful nor the only choice. It has its applications, it just means people aren’t automatically criminals if they get a glimpse of it under your shirt, for example.
Posted by: Common Tater I think that was part of the reason the judge ruled that way in Florida. In the west, in cow towns and the like, it was not uncommon to ban open carry because it was considered provocative. However, carrying concealed was not a biggie. I would have to support open carry if there are restrictions to concealed carry.
This is parsing, I know. Posted by: Kindltot at September 10, 2025 02:31 PM (rbvCR) The history of the advent of concealed carry permit laws was that concealed carry was frowned upon, because nobody except those with ill-intentions would furtively seek to conceal his weapon. Open carry was the rule. Then, when black people started parading weapons openly to intimidate politicians, open carry became disfavored, and the modern concealed carry permit regime was created. https://tinyurl.com/3epjkzef - history.com Posted by: Comrade Flounder, Disinformation Demon at September 10, 2025 02:39 PM (i24o9) 278

The Democrats ran a perfect campaign in 2024. In every detail, historians will point to it in centuries to come and say, "Don't do any of this."
--- No. They will do it all again. For at least a decade or more. Because: 1) they did run a perfect campaign. As to a Romney/McCain, with their "finest cheat machine" in history. All the media, the hype, the celebrity roll-outs, the money, so, so much money. They won 3 Presidential elections w/ that. 3 more if you count Clinton and Gore. 2) they firmly believe Trump is a one-off. 3) None, not a one, has learned, even 10 months later, one single reason why they lost. In fact, every single Dem even in the conversation for 2028 and beyond are all doubling and tripling down on all of Kamala's policies. 4) the hard left has a death-grip on the party. The GOP would STILL be W-infected top to bottom without Trump. The Democrat Party, outside the off-chance an outsider comes in and takes control, will be dominated by Obama-holdovers and acolytes for a generation. Hell, Biden's WH was so Obama centric in terms of personnel that Susan Rice had a position and Biden nominated more black women for the fed bench than Obama did in half the time. I think that was part of the reason the judge ruled that way in Florida. If you carried your piece concealed but had a whoops moment, a malicious prosecutor could nail you for brandishing.
Georgia was the opposite, you could carry openly but to carry concealed, you had to have a pistol toting permit. Posted by: whig Florida had recently become constitutional concealed carry only. YEP. This is the payoff system the Dems have - book deals. They pay her $30 million, she sits and has coffe with a ghostwriter for a couple of hours a week, for three months. Then comes the book tour - where they pay her with luxury accomidations for three months. Next comes "oh now, our massive investment in the book we thought would be popular lost money. Good thing we can write it off on our taxes." Lastly the real secret part - the publisher got paid off as well - someone else fronted the $30 million for a "share" of the "profits". The publisher publishes these books because it is a no-lose deal. Whatever they sell they keep all the money, because Kamala is being paid by an "investor".
