The friend who witnessed Michael Brown's death was shot and killed Sunday morning less than a mile from where a police officer killed Brown.
The Ferguson Police Department confirmed Dorian Johnson died of injuries sustained during the shooting that occurred around 8:30 a.m. Sunday on the 9600 block of Abaco Court.
The location of the shooting is just 15 minutes away by foot from where Ferguson officer Darren Wilson shot and killed Brown on Canfield Drive.
Ferguson Police Public Information Officer Patricia Washington said police took one person into custody in relation to the shooting on Sunday.
That person was released within a maximum 24-hour hold without criminal charges filed, said St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price Smith said in a statement on Monday.
"This appears to be a domestic incident involving a claim of self-defense that is being investigated," Price Smith wrote, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
Washington said Sunday that earlier rumors that the shooting involved police were not true.
Johnson witnessed the fatal shooting of Brown in August 2014. The two were stopped by Wilson for walking in the middle of the street. Johnson spoke at a memorial on the 10th anniversary of Brown's death last year.
After Brown's killing, Johnson unsuccessfully filed suit alleging that Wilson illegally stopped and used excessive force on the pair. An appeals court dismissed the suit in 2019.

F*** this guy most especially. I like that the cops are taking a "wait and see" attitude on his shooting death.

The media refused to cover it, as Beege covered in detail yesterday. (True story: I first heard about it from Beege, and I suspect a number of our readers had the same experience.)

I did hear about it sometime late last week... but only when the video had just begun going viral.

Why are media outlets refusing to cover this story? For the same reason that they rely on cooked crime data: narratives. The case of Iryna Zarutska reminds us of the costs of leaving dangerous psychopaths and criminals on the street. The abominable public-safety conditions in America's cities provide evidence of the failure of progressives who have controlled them for decades. The success of Trump's intervention in DC re-teaches the lessons learned in the 1990s about enforcing the law and keeping dangerous people in prison.
A decade or more of apologizing to criminals gave us Decarlos Brown and took from us Iryna Zarutska. That's the real news, that's the real truth, and the AP and NYT would rather say nothing than report it.

The number of female murders is a little more than 2400 (2022 numbers, although Biden did increase these).

According to a VPC study, 87.5% knew their killer. So, Ace would only need to cover about 300 murders per year - aka, the stranger danger ones. Seems very doable. It might be why they make so much news vs male murder b/c shootings in Chicago and in most inner cities do tend to involve male on male murder...

What happened in CA, though, was CA decided they had a prison over crowding problem. So, the PTB decided to move "non violent" offenders back to county. Yeah, the transfers were handled administratively. Some guy who got tossed in jail for stealing a couple of bucks worth of gum would get sent back to county, even though his rap sheet contained attempted murder, robbery, armed robbery, etc. The administrator wouldn't look at the totality of crime, just the most recent bust.

My mother's best friend was killed by a serial killer. Guy roamed throughout the US killing people but some dumbass local doctor hired the guy to kill his wife--he killed the wife and the doc plus stole all the custom jewelry of the wife. That piece, when taken by a fence to a jeweler who made the piece, unwound the whole thing.

The mercury in fish thing is a problem with certain types of fish, top of the food chain type. It accumulates from eating other species.

It can be a problem for developing babies, and I think pregnant women are the most sensitive group. They shouldn't eat the "predator fish" or something. Small children as well.

An ordinary plastic bag would melt, I expect. Even the bespoke bags will tend to scorch if the contents are a bit on the dry side. I first tried a Macaroni & Cheese based dish, using dry elbow macaroni, and it didn’t like that very much.

I made a tater (of course) based meal yesterday, sort of escalloped potatoes & (cooked) bacon and it worked great. I’m in a semi-desert area and water is a scarce or at least pain in the ass resource at times. Washing dishes uses more than I’d like, so this is kinda helpful.

Now, is high mercury in those top-of-the-food chain fish species really going to poison you? Probably not, if you're a health adult, but pregnant women and small children should avoid those species. The rest of us, well, we'd have to eat a lot of it.

Interestingly, selenium has a counter-mercury effect, and the ration of selenium to mercury is a big factor in this. I didn't know that. Read up if interested.

Eh, I think he is cooked and likely to be canned again when CNN goes dark as cable becomes merely a pipeline for the internet. RFK killing Pharma ads will shoot a gigantic hole in what is left of the derelict cable and broadcast news.

Last time I saw ratings for CNN, it was down to where local news broadcasts in somewhere like Chicago probably drew more viewers.
