Boy With Cerebral Palsy Lights Up as Stranger Takes Him for Spin on the Ice

doof-ice-in-wheelchair.jpg

A video captured the moment a boy with cerebral palsy lit up when a stranger took him for a spin on the ice in his wheelchair.

Bleu Greenwood has a severe form of cerebral palsy—stage five quadriplegic—and relies on ventilation to keep his airways open.

After spending six months on such life support this year, his mom Rielle and her family decided to get out of the house in England to enjoy an outing, and they took Bleu along.

Last Sunday they drove to the National Ice Centre in Nottingham, and the 10-year-old boy was so excited as they arrived at the skating rink.

Suddenly, Bleu was approached by a stranger who offered to take him for a spin on the ice. He said he was a hockey player, so their son would be in good hands.

Tyler carefully guided Bleu’s wheelchair across the ice and the boy beamed with joy as his “overwhelmed” mum cheered from the sidelines.

Check out the whole thing. Video at the link.

Science Corner

This seems kinda cool. Wish I could understand it better.

A new crystal that 'breathes' oxygen expands possibilities for clean energy and electronics

A team of scientists from Korea and Japan has discovered a new type of crystal that can "breathe"—releasing and absorbing oxygen repeatedly at relatively low temperatures. This unique ability could transform the way we develop clean energy technologies, including fuel cells, energy-saving windows, and smart thermal devices.

The newly developed material is a special kind of metal oxide made of strontium, iron, and cobalt. What makes it extraordinary is that it can release oxygen when heated in a simple gas environment and then take it back in, all without falling apart. This process can be repeated many times, making it ideal for real-world applications.

***

Until now, most materials that could accomplish this kind of oxygen control were too fragile or operated only in harsh conditions like extremely high temperatures. This new material works under milder conditions and remains stable. "This finding is striking in two ways: only cobalt ions are reduced, and the process leads to the formation of an entirely new but stable crystal structure," explains Prof. Jeen.

The researchers also showed that the material could return to its original form when oxygen was reintroduced, proving that the process is fully reversible. "This is a major step toward the realization of smart materials that can adjust themselves in real time," says Prof. Ohta. "The potential applications range from clean energy to electronics and even eco-friendly building materials."

Any of you science nerds able to give us an opinion of this?

Giorgio Armani: The Sultan of Style with a Surprising Trump Twist

When you think of Giorgio Armani, you envision buttery-soft suits, dazzling red-carpet gowns, and a fashion empire that married high couture with everyday elegance. The Italian maestro, who passed away on September 4, 2025, at 91, didn’t just dress the world—he redefined it with his visionary designs. But, y’all, hold onto your hats: did you know Armani may have played matchmaker?

Born in Piacenza, Italy, in 1934, Armani’s journey took him from humble roots amidst World War II’s hardships to the pinnacle of global luxury. His big break came in the 1970s with his game-changing unstructured jacket, tossing out stiff padding for a relaxed, sophisticated vibe. That style stole the spotlight in 1980’s American Gigolo, where Richard Gere’s character wore Armani’s fluid suits—silk shirts unbuttoned just right, wide-legged trousers, and those iconic jackets that served effortless cool.

IMG_5016r.jpg

Armani’s romance with Hollywood was pure magic. He dressed over 100 films, from The Untouchables (1987) to The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) and turned the red carpet into his personal runway. Think Jodie Foster’s shimmering gown at the 1992 Oscars—glam yet graceful—or Anne Hathaway’s ethereal mermaid dress at the 2009 Oscars. More recently, Cate Blanchett’s plunging Armani Privé gown at the 2022 SAG Awards showed off his haute couture line, launched in 2005. Armani once said, “Elegance is not about being noticed, it’s about being remembered.”

IMG_5020r.jpg

IMG_5021r.jpg

IMG_5022r.jpg

Armani didn’t just dress stars—he sparked a power couple! At a 1998 New York Fashion Week bash he hosted, Armani reportedly introduced Melania Knauss to Donald Trump. That’s right, folks—he may have lit the spark for the future 45th President and First Lady!

IMG_5030r.jpg
President Trump and Melania in 1998

Melania turned to Armani for her show stopping 2005 wedding dress—a masterpiece of elegance and sophistication. Armani, ever the class act, stood by her when other designers balked after Trump’s 2016 election, saying, “Why shouldn’t I dress a beautiful woman? This goes beyond politics.” Swoon!

IMG_5027r.jpg

The day after Armani’s passing, Melania honored him at a private White House dinner on September 5, 2025, wearing a sleek black sleeveless Armani dress with a crossover V-neck and a chic belt—a perfect tribute to the designer who supported her.

IMG_5028r.jpg

Armani recognized there is a connection to ethics in the fashion world and he was the first designer to ban underweight models in 2007. His deconstructed silhouettes challenged norms, his red-carpet innovations glamorized restraint, and his business acumen built an independent empire worth billions. As Donatella Versace noted, the world lost a giant.

Bonus Fashion Pron! Because I know y’all were waiting with baited breath for this information- The Taylor Swift Engagement outfit! The dress is Polo Ralph Lauren, striped silk blend in 1932 Stripe, black and white. The watch is a Cartier Santos Demoiselle, gold and diamond.

Moving on from there, there are a ton of songs about Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and Britain itself uniting against the illegal invasion.

200 In 1949, Procter & Gamble launched a radio advertising campaign for Prell shampoo featuring "Tallulah the Tube," a singing shampoo tube voiced by Fran Barber. The character appeared in commercials for shows like The Life of Riley and Rosemary on NBC and CBS.

This campaign caused controversy because it was inspired by actress Tallulah Bankhead, who had not given permission for her name to be used. Bankhead filed a $1 million lawsuit against Procter & Gamble, the radio networks, and the advertising agency for unauthorized use of her name, as she had consistently refused endorsement deals.

Incidentally this Sept full moon is not the Harvest Moon. That will be Oct. 6 one. Oct Harvest moon happen about 1 in 5 years on average, but it varies from 3 years to 8 years. Last one was in 2020, next will be 2028, then 2036.

The Harvest Moon, the one that shines on, shines on is the one that occurs closest to the Fall equinox, and that alignment produces the Harvest Moon effect. The difference in moon rise times from day to day around the full moon there are the shortest (and the difference in set times are the longest).

In the Southern hemisphere, it flips to maintain seasonal alignment. The Harvest moon there is in March, which is fall for them. It's all about the angle the ecliptic makes with the eastern horizon at sunset, when the full moon rises.

289 So does no one remember the story about Tallulah and Lifeboat? Hitchcock filmed it in a large water tank which required the cast to climb tall ladder up into it each day. Tallulah quite famously never wore underwear, and a small crowd would gather at the base of the ladder whenever she ascended. (Tallulah enjoyed the attention)
Some of the other women on the set got sick of the spectacle and complained to Hitchcock about it, and wanted him to put a stop to it.
Hitchcock declined, and quipped “well I don't know if this is a matter for the costume department, make-up, or hairdressing".

The Unravelling Kingdom is doomed and King Chuckles the Last will dismantle the monarchy and the Church of England. The EU is instilling the Universal Caliphate while the global population of white people are being systematically marginalized / cancelled / censored / imprisoned / eliminated. Demographics are destiny.

323 I'm sure lawyers would argue against it, but here's how I see it:

1) These fentanyl boys KNOW that people are going to die if the sell that shit. They KNOW it.
2) Knowing that, they still smuggle it and distribute it for profit.

IMO, that makes it murder for hire, with malice aforethought.

3) If they're in the process of smuggling it in, they're therefore in the process of committing premeditated murder for hire.

4) Using deadly force to stop a murder in process is fully justified.

5) Eat flaming death, cartel scumbags.

And it's way past my bed time. Good night, all.

He needs to be put out to pasture.

I got interested in this "using the military to blow up criminals". The key is this was outside US territory, for one, on the high seas. Article I grants Congress broad power to define crimes on the high seas. Treaties and all that interact with that, but Congress has broad power.

For example, it's pretty much fine to smoke pirates per US law on this. Now, for drug smuggling, it's different.

The key there is they defined Tren de Argua or however you spell it as a terrorist organization. That's where the power to smoke 'em comes from.

Inside US territory, it would be a very different thing. But on the high seas, smoke 'em.

328 181 On the medical front, wife's cardiologist has been after her to get an angiogram for some time. She underwent the procedure Friday AM. The found 97% blockage in her right coronary artery and a 100% in a branch further down.

They decided to do a stint in the upper one. They tried going in through her arm but that didn't work out so the went in her leg. All went well except for her bleeding. They got that under control and sent her to a regular bed where the bleeding resumed. In fact it got out of control.

The cardiologist came back to her room and applied direct pressure, with his hand, for 45 minutes. Bleeding stopped and she is home now and doing well.

You don't find that kind of care much now days.

Seconded!

Hubby had 2 stents place, maybe a decade ago. They went in thru an artery, opened at his wrist.

He came out with a compression bandage on that wrist, and kept trying to loosen it (!) because 1-stoned on anesthetic, and 2- it looked like a screw/bolt and he wanted to turn it because 3- the pressure was uncomfortable.

I had to sit with him & keep him from messing with it for a couple hours. Stubborn man!

Another thing I got a kick out of with Hitchcock was the "censorship code" (why Ricky and Lucy had to sleep in twin beds, and not together in one bed). There was a rule that a murderer or other heinous criminal was not allowed to get away with it. He had either get killed himself or be brought to justice.

So Hitchcock would come up with these clever plots where the murderer and perhaps an accomplice would obviously get away it. And then, at the end of the last scene, he would come on and explain the "rest of the story" where the murderer was caught in some very silly, contrived way.

Speaking of Moon signs, I stumbled on an interesting coincidence. I was interested in the variation of the synodic month, the duration of a given lunation cycle. The mean is 29.53+ days, but there is significant variation around that, 29.27 - 29.83 being the typical range. But rare extremes can go beyond that.

Guess what. The full Moon on Dec. 9, 1787 was the longest duration lunation since 1610. That was the year of the Constitutional Convention. And that is longest lunation for the history of the US, and will be for a long time.

A Fashion Primer

Women's Fashion: Getting the hotties to war as little as possible. Getting the rest to wear progressively more.

Men's Fashion: Wearing a suit to command respect, like Cary Grant, Sean Connery or Humphrey Bogart. If you've ever been in a "business" (likely not normal work, but a meeting involving a very large desk, or possibly with others not from your company) setting, you've likely experienced this.

350 A search for the word "comply" in this thread picks up these comments:

67 I think it's time to start leaving bodies on the ground, not 'shovel, shut up' in some unknown hidden grave. We have to politely and publicly tell them, 'no'. We have a 2nd Amendment for a reason. We see what's happening in the UK/Australia/NZ/Canada without it. 81 I am sure TX has some deep ponds. 88 Nothing wrong with that goatraper that huffing a little phosgene wouldn't fix. 180 Did something ask for a textbook example of terroristic threatening? And why vigilance committees arise. 287 "Oh yeah? I don't think so, Scooter." -- Ron White 292 Have any TX politicians spoken up? Big Chip Roy said anything? The governor?
