Jerry Dunleavy/JustTheNews: Disgraced, Jailed FBI Agent Who Leaked Critical Information to... CEFC, the ChiCom Front Company That Was Paying Off Hunter Biden and "The Big Guy"

Treason.

Convicted FBI agent tipped off Hunter Biden-linked Chinese company about criminal investigation

A disgraced FBI official tipped off a Chinese company about a criminal investigation while Hunter Biden was pursuing lucrative deals with the CCP-linked business.

By Jerry Dunleavy

The since-convicted FBI official who led counterintelligence efforts in New York leaked information to an affiliate of a Chinese company which was linked to Hunter Biden's business efforts, according to a DOJ watchdog who concluded the leak tipped the Chinese conglomerate off about the bureau's criminal investigation.

Charles McGonigal, the former special-agent-in-charge of the FBI Counterintelligence Division in New York, leaked information to "Person B" -- an unnamed businessman who worked for the Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC -- even as the FBI was secretly investigating the Chinese company, according to the new report by Acting DOJ Inspector General William M. Blier.

McGonigal, who was sentenced in December 2023 for money laundering related to a Russian oligarch and in February 2024 for receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars from an Albanian government official, met with prosecutors in November 2023 and "acknowledged during the proffer interview that he shared information with Person B about the CEFC investigation and anticipated arrests arising from it."

Another straight-shooting ham-and-egger.

The DOJ watchdog said that "Person B was a consultant to foreign governments and businesses on international investments, and, in addition to his work for CEFC China, Person B was a non-governmental advisor to the Prime Minister of Albania."

In short, he warned "Person B," who was a consultant to CEFC, about the FBI investigation into them, which permitted them to take steps to cover up their crimes.

And CEFC was at this time shoveling money to Hunter Biden with 10% reserved for "The Big Guy."

The watchdog report assessed that "although the full extent of the harm from McGonigal's leaks of sensitive investigative information to foreign subjects and targets will likely never be fully known, we determined that the impact of McGonigal's conduct on the CEFC investigation, a significant FBI criminal investigation, was substantial."

President Joe Biden's son held a lucrative position on the board of Ukrainian energy giant Burisma when his father was vice president. He also pursued business deals in China and elsewhere during and after his father's tenure and received millions from Chinese government-linked entities. He raked in millions thanks to these associations from 2013 to 2018.

CEFC was a multibillion-dollar Chinese conglomerate founded by Ye Jianming, a Chinese Communist Party-linked business tycoon who subsequently disappeared in China but with whom Hunter Biden had attempted to work out numerous deals. Chinese state-run media named Ye in an alleged corruption case in 2018, and China allowed CEFC to go bankrupt.

Hunter Biden and his associated businesses are also believed to have received $5 million or more in payments from CEFC in 2017 and 2018, and Ye Jianming's deputy, Patrick Ho, also agreed to pay Hunter Biden a $1 million legal retainer after Ho was eventually arrested. Ho agreed to the $1 million retainer with Hunter Biden for "counsel to matters related to U.S. law and advice pertaining to the hiring and legal analysis of any U.S. law firm or lawyer," according to an "attorney engagement letter" located on Hunter Biden's laptop hard drive.

The first call Ho reportedly made after his arrest in late 2017 was to Joe Biden's brother, James, who has said he thought the call was meant for Hunter. Ho had tried reaching out for help because Hunter Biden agreed to represent him as part of his efforts to work out a liquefied natural gas deal worth tens of millions of dollars.

Hunter referred to Ho as "the fucking spy chief of China" in a May 11, 2018, voice recording.

Ho was sentenced to three years in prison in March 2019 for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He was deported to Hong Kong in June 2021 after serving his sentence. It was later revealed that the Justice Department had likely obtained Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant against Ho. Republicans accused now-former Attorney General Merrick Garland of not being forthcoming about the apparent FISA against Ho.

The DOJ watchdog said "McGonigal eventually admitted he disclosed to Person B that the FBI planned to arrest individuals associated with CEFC."

The article goes on to note that Joe Biden gave his son a complete pardon for all crimes he committed during a specific 11-year period.

How are you? I'm feeling energetic. Fasting is really good for your sleep.

Any plans for the weekend?

BTW, did anyone see Jaws in the theaters last weekend? It was the #2 movie in America, I think. I wanted to see it but also wanted to be lazy so instead of doing something I did nothing, as usual.

You can't logically pardon someone for "whatever" in an 11 year period.

You can only pardon them for specific incidents or crimes.

Biden did not do that. Now, one could stretch things and argue he meant the crimes Hunter was currently being investigated for - which were the gun stuff and drugs, IIRC.

But bribes from China? and Ukraine? and I'm sure Europe?

79 You can't logically pardon someone for "whatever" in an 11 year period.

The DoJ should be going full steam ahead/
Posted by: 18-1

It would be eye-opening to charge Hunter on taking bribes from China, have it challenged due to pardon power, and conclude that Joe Biden knew about the bribes but covered it up.

Even more eye-opening would be to charge Hunter with having sex with underage girls (relatives?) based on the laptop evidence ...

Lots of people in Hollywood write parts with specific actors they've previously worked with in mind, but usually the actor doesn't turn down work. That was kind of Joss Whedon's entire career (Nathan Fillion was on Buffy, which got him the Mal Reynolds role in Firefly, which got him Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible).

87 I heard a cool bit about Jaws. If you remember, there's a shot of Hooper in the anti-shark cage with a big shark knocking into it. It's a really good shot that shows the shark, a real shark, no mechanical puppet.

How they did that was: A small person in a small cage with a regular-sized shark. "Hooper" was in full wetsuit and mask so you couldn't tell it wasn't him.

Actually, Jaws is remarkably undated for a movie made in the 70's

The only thing that would date it is a wired telephone, typewriter, and the occasional shot of car and possibly Larry's Leisure suit.

Contrast that with say, The French Connection, that film wildly dates itself.

Directors develop relationships with actors, and they can just end up liking to work together while studios will fund it.

I think he had a narrow range dating back to his semi biographical Nat Lamp days as a writer and once that was mined out, he was tapped out. But for a shining time in the 80's and early 90's, he did well because his movies connected with kids, young adults, and even older ones. Old formula for success in movies abandoned nowadays.

More like a femme fatale for Eric, George was nonplussed but did not sink like Eric did into heroin addiction. Whatever you think of Pete Townshend, it is pretty undeniable that Pete got Eric off the smack and back making music via his Rainbow Concert and ordering a very reluctant Glyn Johns to let Eric work with Ronnie Layne and Pete on Rough Mix. That led to Glyn Johns later working with Eric to fully restore his comeback in music.

Rough Mix has a great cast of musicians, songs, and performances on that album and one of Glyn John's favorite albums that he has worked on. Done after Ronnie Layne was diagnosed with MS which was destroying his ability to be a musician and which he later died from. Ronnie was broke and this album helped ease his final years.

In a 2018 essay for The New Yorker, she reflected on the misogyny present in films like The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, acknowledging that scenes involving her character were inappropriate, including instances of sexual harassment and non-consensual situations.

Eh, she was a thing and then she wasn't and spent a fair amount of time trying to come back.

But, she lost her cutes early on, and didn't age into a beauty...just kinda upper normal range.

She did show her boobs in some thriller...so there's that.

It’s too bad she’s only really appeared in a few films and TV series over her career. Her acting wasn’t the greatest so maybe that’s the reason.

Yea, but MI was released on streaming only 3 months after release.

294 More like a femme fatale for Eric, George was nonplussed but did not sink like Eric did into heroin addiction.

True, but once that got out, there was an effort underway to minimize or refute that. One of the major kudos given to the film was that they held off revealing the shark for a long time. It wasn't flattering to learn that was only because they couldn't get a functioning shark for the earlier scenes they wanted to show the shark.

On a related note, the mechanical shark used for the film really was a piece of shit. Comically bad. Jaws was a big-budget, major release. Roger Corman could have gotten a better shark for a movie with 1/10th the budget.

LONDON (AP) — U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer shook up his Cabinet Friday after his top deputy stepped down over a tax error on a home purchase, leaving a big hole in the center-left Labour government.

Starmer carried out a major reshuffle, a forced government reboot after a rocky 14 months in office that have seen his popularity plunge. Foreign Secretary David Lammy was moved to replace Angela Rayner as deputy prime minister, and also took the justice portfolio. Yvette Cooper moved from the Home Office to become foreign secretary while the justice secretary, Shabana Mahmood, became home secretary.

Due to Keir plunging popularity, he ordered the political hit on Raymer because she was a plausible substitute PM. That is the British tradition of scumbaggery, treachery, and blind ambition hidden in the Cabinet form of government.

One reason that they can't seem to ever get it together is because you are viewed as a sap if you are a loyalist to the PM. They, themselves, along with the Whips, etc. have no such loyalty.

Oliver still had to audition.

Deep Cover is a recent Prime movie about improv actors who become undercover assets for the London police.

Starring Orlando Bloom, Nick Muhammad, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Sean Bean.

I thought it was good.

379 I did see Jaws last weekend. I first saw it in the theater when I was 6 (so you know I'm not really 29, lol). At the Jersey shore, with my dad and grandfather. The old man was a tough, crusty WWII vet, and he wouldn't even dip his toes in the ocean after he saw it.....

The experience was cool, even though I have seen it 200 times since then.

There are more re-releases on the way. Back to the Future and Apollo 13, notably.

I practically grew up at the jersey shore. After seeing jaws I didn't even eat tuna fish anymore, never mind going into the water.

380 > Ballooning deficits which means BoE is going to raise interest rates again which further hurts any exports, etc. So you will get another mini budget soon to raise taxes again, etc.

They've cut the rates four times since the end of 2024. It was 5.25% in August 2023, and now it's 4%. They have wiggle room to raise rates, I think.

You're right that exports are lower than imports, and that's bad.

388 Seems like I have to update my observation on how the profit/gain motive is always corruption in a Marxist system, but has a natural outlet in a free economy.

However, a government can still be corrupted by those who seek to gain through the wielding of power.

Thus government corruption plays similar roles in both systems.

They're now trying to say that Sheriff Pusser actually staged the shooting to murder his wife.

Never mind the 14 surgeries he endured after the fact. The whole thing was an elaborate ruse to kill his wife.

There is a trigger in BoE policy that ended up sinking the Liz Truss PM ship in record time. Their target on inflation is 2 percent and thus the BoE is unwinding its quantitative easing done in years of Covid. Money is tighter even when the top of the line interest rate (need to float the public deficit) is kept lower. That makes achieving the inflation target impossible leading to capital outflows to other places.

I didn’t know Jaws was in theaters! The 70s original? If so, that’s indicative that Hollywood has completely run out of original ideas
Posted by: LinusVanPelt at September 05, 2025 12:34 PM (WdMlw)

Uh, not really. Many have never seen it on the big screen the way it was meant to be seen. I ran it back in 1975 when I worked part time as a projectionist in a General Cinema first run theater. It really thrilled the audience and still does in a theater on the 60 foot screen. Many classic movies are brought back to theaters for a limited engagement for film fans to enjoy. Hell, in 1976 ot so, my wife and two other couples went to Radio City to see a special showing of Singing In The Rain. The place was nearly sold out, and the audience applauded after every number! I had seen it many times before on TV, but, as a film fan, I wanted to see it the way it was meant to be seen. I was not disappointed. And it was shown in it's original 1:37:1 aspect ratio, as Radio City is set up to do.
