From what I can find, there does seem to be a strong link between cannabis and schizophrenia. Cannabis doesn't *cause* it, but if you are already pre-disposed to it (especially if you have a family history of it), then you are much more likely to develop symptoms of schizophrenia from heavy cannabis usage.

Of course being a cult, it also separates its members from their families. One mother talks about her daughter, who changed her name and transitioned in order to accomplish the cult's goals.

The mother refers to her (now "him") as "my child." Can't bring herself to use the pronouns or the new name. She's as supportive as she possibly can be, because she wants the daughter back.

I think a situation like this takes away all your parenting. You just try to support and save and hope your kid comes around. I wonder what we'll be hearing from the shooter's mom.

I'll just add that mental health treatment in this country is garbage. Seriously. People with mental health issues are uncomfortable for a lot of people to be with. Their interactions with those afflicted tend to be either over the top obsequiousness or outright ignoring the person if not hostility.

If you break a bone you get firm treatment. If you are bipolar you get shunned.

Mental illness unfortunately has a typology that spreads across categories sometimes of symptoms. Most types of mental illness do not lead to violence against others, sometimes suicide, but not mass shootings, etc.

Other types of mental illness result in quite high lifetime risk of violence against others.

I can recommend as I did earlier, Clayton Cramer, a noted 2A historian, wrote about his brother Ron and his mental illness struggles plus treatment battles in "My Brother Ron : a Personal and Social History of the Deinstitutionalization of the Mentally Ill" Available on Kindle as Amazon as well as used copies on Ebay. From some experience with depression, there's often an element of anger there where one sees happy, well adjusted people and think to themselves "what's wrong with me? Why can't I be happy like them?"

From what I can tell of my use of Grok and other AI systems, it's weakness is GIGO (garbage in, garbage out). AI is not actually an intelligence at all. It's not thinking. It simply regurgitates the programming and input it has been given by humans.

If those humans happen to program it with their left-wing opinions and biases and propaganda, that's what AI will spit out.

Grok, from what I can tell, simply searches the internet for available data and collects it all into a nice summary. But if that data is all left-wing BS, the result will simply be a summary of left-wing BS.

I find the summaries of 10-20 sources helpful, but I never blindly trust the results.

In my experience people try everything and usually settle on one thing that grabs them. Actual in-patient beds are not easily to find and initiating emergency psychiatric evaluation or temporary commitment for individuals in crisis is not so easy to do.

Florida has the Baker Act, CA has 5051 holds, PA 302 commitments, and so on.

Mental health $ needs to be in useful, proven programs. What does your state, city, county have available?

Lots of isolated people in modern society and considerable evidence that mental health suffers in a modern society devoid of the attachments of old. As an academic advisor, I came across a fair number of folks trying to fit in--I tried to advise them to join the various clubs of any sort on campus just to get connections to other people. Kept a list of all student organizations of faith, hobbies, etc. so as to refer them.

Friends, a loving family, and ideally a faith, are good shields against descending into the abyss. Not perfect, but good.

It's a creation of Congress that exercises executive functions. It is not a Congressional agency. It is not a judicial agency. The constitution does not allow for "independent" agencies. The Fed is actually a subsidiary of the Treasury Department.

Trump has every right to fire any executive employee, especially Fed governors who have it written that they can be fired in the controlling and establishing statute. "For cause" doesn't even need to be criminal activity. Malfeasance is enough.

There were two Fed officials that resigned for allegations of insider trading. To my knowledge, none of them were even charged.

If she was found to have been improperly removed, the remedy is some sort of payout for that job for lost wages.

Honestly, it could just be the hormone replacement. It is not good for the bodily system to be flushed with one hormone while another is suppressed. When you put a body that far out of balance, the brain is not far behind.

And I'm sure hormones were tested as hormone replacement therapy, so thus declared safe, and this off-label use was probably thus equally allowed. However, replacing the hormone level an XX is supposed to have is one thing...putting that level in an XY is completely another.

He does, Federal Reserve Act lets the president fire for 'cause'--prior acts that were unethical, immoral, illegal, demonstrate incompetence, and failure to show up for work among others including substance abuse.

Because appointment to the Fed Board of Governors requires Senate confirmation, these are considered major officers of the United States and thus are removable by the president. IF you accept Humphrey's Executor as still valid, then the president can only fire for cause--lying on mortgage documents would qualify because the Fed itself regulates banks and lending. If you believe in the unitary executive, then Trump can fire Cook without a second thought but Scotus would have to junk Humphreys or distinguish it.

Constitutionally, Congress has never been interpreted as having the power to limit presidential firings (George Washington set the precedent here) even if they initially confirmed the appointment (aka major officers of the United States is the legal vernacular). Later, Andrew Jackson amplified the firings for simply politics and patronage but even before Jackson, no president or even Congress argued that the president could not fire executive employees. The Civil Service Acts under Chester Arthur originally extended limited protections and eliminated patronage hiring to some extent via examinations, etc. But these were lowest level employees, not the managers of departments, secretaries of agencies, etc. The creeping ossification and dead law of the Tenure in Office Act eventually led CJ Taft to sweep away firing protections for postmasters confirmed by the Senate. This later was clarified in Humphrey's executor--managerial and political positions, Congress cannot limit firings. Quasi legislative and judicial, fire only with cause.

Not quite. We have ran a controlled experiment with the US not having a Federal Reserve Bank and when we have had one. Inflation affecting the dollar is much worse when we had one than when we haven't. As in the dollar is worth about 3 cents today of a dollar using the baseline of 1913 when the Federal Reserve Act came into force.

The value of a dollar from 1789 to 1913 was that the dollar in 1913 was worth about $1 dollar in 1789 (a bit more with rounding).

Which model fits a stable and sound currency required in the Constitution better--one with the Fed or one without.

Thanks for the compliment, ot a problem. I taught Con Law Powers for about twenty or so years among other law classes and as I repeated to students--bureaucrats are not a fourth branch of government in our Constitution. They can only be understood as being minor officials under the executive aka President.

Someone in our political system has to be above them for a representative form of government and that is the President for better or worse because we do not have a Parliamentary system.

It's bureaucracy is so perfect - the only people with responsibility are faceless drones in a giant gray mass. Also, they're the sort of people you can throw under the bus if the crapola really starts flying and you need a human shield.
