That’s called zebra striping ... and it kind of extends the night.” *** “More and more when I go to restaurants, mocktails are just offered, like they’re on the menu and it’s just part of the norm now,” said (Dr. Joseph) Lee (CEO of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation), an expert in psychiatry and addiction medicine. “Those are really healthy things to see on a broader public health level.”Interesting article. When people think of a non-human search-and-rescue partner, they usually picture a courageous dog on the trail. Notably, one Florida search-and-rescue team is training an Asian small-clawed otter (Aonyx cinereus) named Splash to help in aquatic missions. Reportedly, Peace River K9 Search and Rescue hopes to use Splash to extend search efforts into murky water, where search dogs cannot go. Otters can “taste” scents underwater, a unique ability Splash uses to locate human remains. It is said to be the world’s only search and rescue otter. Doerner Tree loses 50 feet of height to fire. Massive Douglas Fir tree in Oregon looks like it will make it through the fire. The tree is estimated to be roughly 450 years old and was the tallest Douglas fir in the world at 327 feet before the blaze. Volunteer tree climbers Damien Carré and Logan Collier scaled the tree Thursday afternoon and used a hose to put out the last of the flames burning inside the tree. Then, they helped set up a sprinkler system to prevent the fire from reigniting. Here's a clue. If I go to a bar and don't feel like having the high test, I'll order something else. Orange Juice (which by the way is a virgin Screw Driver). Or a Coke, or maybe a Ginger Ale. Need to roast a chicken that Smash has soaking in a brine since 0630 this morning. Nom nom nom. Downloaded FreeCad for Unubtu. Need to watch some ewe toob training material to help me with the learning curve. I want to be able to creat my own ideas instead of downoading some crap off the internet that is kinda sorta close for the design(s) i have in my head. Aside from simple cicles and triangles for rocket parts, i wanna make some cool stuff. Like a dirty/clean indicator for the dishwasher. The brick was pealing because moisture got inside, then the freeze comes and splits part of the brick off. Hey, brick off, buddy. Anyway, spalling repair is done one brick at time. One brick at time, manually. It's a 2800 sq ft house. You could rip all the brick off and re-apply cheaper. Oh well, dreams of owning a honeycomb drift away. As for the Muslims in Europe: the "refugees" and "asylum seekers" tend either to be assholes even by the standard of the countries they left.
In Syria that standard is actually... high. Syrians have, or at least under the Assads had, some First World aspirations. In Pakistan the standard is obviously very low, but somehow the Mirpuris that got over to the UK managed to undercut it. What I guess I am trying to say is that if a lot of inbred Pakistanis, ISIS Syrians, and various scum from Algeria and Libya get executed for their crimes in Europe, the reaction in the Near East might not be all that angry. Posted by: Diogenes at August 30, 2025 10:56 PM (2WIwB) Sometimes I hate being right. While standing on 5th Avenue watching the Towers fall, I turned to a co-worker and told her, 'We're at war. We'll be at war for the next 50 years'. And here we are. With a Ugandan muzzie commie running for mayor. Warfare takes many forms. In most cases right now, it's outbreeding the host country while robbing them blind through benefits. There is also the humiliation with the rape strategy employed by muzzies, too, showing dominance. While the elites aren't affected, they will eventually have no say as to what the hoi polloi will do. They might be aghast at that reaction but they will stand aside if they know what's good for them; after all, they created the bloody problem. Posted by: RickZ at August 30, 2025 11:10 PM (gKDq2) 222

The KGB had a brutally effective way of dealing with jihadis and Muslims who stepped to them. Some Muslims in Lebanon kidnapped a couple of KGB guys and killed them. The KGB boys responded by kidnapping for Muslims, cutting their dicks and balls off. Threw them into the back of a pickup truck and roared past the hideout where they knew the other jihad boys were, and dumped out the now-deceased dickless jihadis.

"in Japan. The left-wing government's been busy flying in Muslims, and the Muslims have been busy with Japan's schoolgirls."
A little like the Brits about Americans in WW2 "too over-sexed, over-paid, and over here". But Muzzies are rapist haters and supremacists, not like the Westerner Americans. But Japs and many more civilized "Westerners" are having too few kids, I guess because they are under-sexed, under-paid, and not interested in Family? I noticed there are 10 wildfires on Sulawesi island in the Philippines, though that's not what y'all are referring to. I think it was a setting for an early Conrad novel, as I remember references to Macassar. I love checking out wildfires on the wundermap, www.wunderground.com, maybe because I live in Colorado. Love the song Moondance. I like Michael Buble's version because I prefer his voice but he does it as a big band number. Van Helen's version is with a small combo and is more intimate, more suitable to the song. And I love the flute part in Van Halen's recording. Makes me think, wistfully, of Herbie Mann.

Texas was gloomy all day
Oh good news/bad news on my two fentanyl addicts. Good A string of random events led to her parents coming to Dallas to visit, discovering she was homeless and taking her back to NC, apparently enrolled in a treatment program. Awesome, she may live and start a new life after all. Please don't come back Bad I've given these two over $10k, gave them a place to stay for 3 months, food etc... and the fcker steals $120 from me and tries to grief my wife WHILE HER FATHER IS DYING OF CANCER. Unbelievable. No good deed... I think his time in this world should come to an end. Posted by: Fenrisulven at August 31, 2025 03:29 AM (ciYHQ) 369

AI as Boxer?
From Ace's Friday piece on AI boyfriends (and more): Below, the AI gives deBoer three citations in a row, each of which is completely fictitious, and each time, the AI says "I'll do better next time" and produces another fake. Wasn't it the Horse, Boxer, in "Animal Farm", who often said, "I will work harder"? It is worth remembering that Boxer died in harness and was sent to the knackery.
