Puli, Pumi and Komondors are all Hungarian corded breeds. The show ones are a pain to bathe, dry and groom.

A corded coat is also acceptable in Standard Poodles. You don't see them often, but they're quite striking when you do.

Can't believe August is almost over. At ~35N latitude, we just entered the window where the decrease in day length hit 2 min per day.

And at this time of season, the Equation of Time dance has shifted such that the brunt of that is now on the sunset side, so sunsets, relative to mean time, are getting earlier more rapidly than sunrise is getting later.

I tend to let my kitties do as they will, so we get along. I reserve the right to mess with them every so often, I call it 'paying the rent'. I trained a cat I adopted in the early 80s to not wake me up for food in the morning by grabbing her and talking in her face in a squeaky voice. She changed to just sitting on my hip till I got up. She also trained all the cats after her to also not wake me up, and each generation does the same evr since.

Attention Massachusetts: Why hasn’t this story made the news?

On August 24th, at the annual “Dadurday Event” in Lawrence, families came together to celebrate fathers and children. Volunteers donated their time, including free back-to-school haircuts for kids, a true act of service to the community.

But while giving back, Joe Terilli, a master barber from Jake’s Chop Shop, was stabbed multiple times. He suffered a collapsed lung and other serious injuries and was rushed to Lawrence General Hospital. This happened four days ago and yet there’s been silence from the media and Massachusetts leadership.

How is it that a man nearly killed while serving his community doesn’t make headlines? Is it because it happened in Lawrence? Or because it doesn’t fit the narrative the media and Beacon Hill want to push?

Uh oh. Another critter to worry about! Bears stealing birdseed, eagles going fishing, coyotes howling at night, deer eating everything in sight, bobcats chasing rabbits, foxes hiding from bobcats, otters eating the fish, hawks hunting for little ducks, owls controlling the chipmunk population, big black snakes eating rattlers & copperheads, and now we have to worry about foraging feral HOGS?
Oh. That’s right! We moved to the mountains where all of this stuff is supposed to happen! Just realized I left out a bunch: skunks, moles, voles, mice, armadillo, groundhogs, beavers, blue tailed skinks, spring lizards, tree frogs, snapping turtles, box turtles, turtley turtles, ducks, egrets, heron, ELK, squirrels (both flying & gray)."

You don't understand their position. Very important people have a whole business plan based around running interstate shipping that pays 70% of the wages that Americans drivers will work for. Without that basic element guaranteed, the companies will go bankrupt, and the Indian drivers will no longer be able to send their wages back home. There is no upside to this decision for them.

Gun culture in America is ridiculous. For most gun owners, guns serve the same purpose as New Age crystals or nutritional supplements: Empowering charms to make you feel safe.
But unlike crystals, guns kill.

Statistics are not very clear, estimates say that guns are legally used for self defense in the US between 1,095 and 5,479 times. Obviously, they are not used to shoot a perpetual thst often, but people brandishing the weapons in time of danger can send a bad guy running without the need to pull the trigger.
The fact that a minimum of 1095 people are actually made safe because they have a gun is a pretty good indication that Mr. Levinovitz is an ignoramus.

BTW, that's up to 5,479 legal uses of firearms for self defense in the US every day. Not year, not month, not week.

EVERY DAY.
