My philosophy is to feed wild animals with more Wild.

I leave whole chunks of my property to go feral. Plenty of plants for the bugs, plenty of bugs for the birds, plenty of birds for whatever is out there eating the birds.... all i do is work on keeping invasives from shitting everything up. Agreed. I somehow missed that one when it was new, but it came up as a suggestion for me on Amazon Prime Video a while back.

Prime Gibson as Maverick, with James Garner now playing his father. The rest of the cast did a good job as well. Jodie Foster did some workmanlike acting, and was quite decorative, as well.

A lot of good cameo appearances in the bargain. I won't spoil those.

263 We had our first trip to Jackson Hole and Tetons when our boys were in HS in FL. I was used to the West and snow, but, I think Montana is the coldest place, and I have been a few times since.But this one was like landing on Mars.

Anyway, the Delta pilot landed the 757 on a snow packed tarmac and we skidded some. It would not have mattered, I don't think, if it went off the runway as the snow was very, very deep that year. A record snow pack. I don't get rattled ever in a plane due to a wild flight in the early 80's after rolling both ways and the body of the plane dropping thouands of feet (before cell phones and attention. We all said a collective woo! as everything fell out of the bins and food went everywhere. One guy injured. The pilot got applause when we landed).

Anyway, I said, "Quite a landing!" A pilot across the aisle from me said it was actually a good one! All the roads were packed hard snow. Super cold and I got new boots. I don't think they bother to plow in winters like that except in the spring. Awesome ski trip.

For just a couple years around 1960, a company built a fogging unit that could be run off a lawn tractor. I think the name was Blitz Fog. Just mow and fog at the same time. Running through a fog of DDT was probably fun, but it never sold in big quantities and was dropped.

We like Dark Winds (and loved Longmire). Watched a Western movie tonight (don't remember the name). About a deputy and Cherokee deputy catching a gang that were half Indian/half black. They hung at the end. A true story I believe.

There are a lot of roads that don't get plowed here. The first snowstorm in October people will be saying, Okay, I won't be driving thus-and-so till April. The winter my husband was in hospice, I drove to and from with a shovel in the back seat just in case.

A true story that I have told here before. Mumble years ago when Mrs928 and I were first married, we lived on Lake Murray in SC. There was a guy that fed the wild geese and ducks. He fed them so often that they would come up in his yard for the tossed feed. Over the course of the year he would feed them from closer and closer to his house, eventually even into his garage. One day, after leading the large flock indoors, he shut the door. None of the creatures were ever seen again.

The horrors that must have happened in there are the stuff of avian nightmares.

Nothing was plowed in Jackson that winter. We got used to it. Now we live in the Intermountain West and I love snow! Our roads are mostly plowed. I no longer ski, nor does my husband, but sons are ski lunatics. Now our grands ski, too.

They are on skis age 2yrs with a harness. Had one of my boyfriends put a harness on me in college it would have helped a lot vs bringing me (from the South) up to blue slopes and giving me worthless snow plow lessons. It took a professional as an adult to teach me vs these nuts. I was way too poor in college to pay for lessons or skis.

I like cross country better. The peace. The wine, etc. Now resorts are super crowded except on weekends. Where did all these people come from?
