Trump to Fed Reserve Governor and Part-Time Mortgage Fraudster Lisa Cook: You're Fired

Trump's letter directly invoked Article II of the Constitution and the Federal Reserve Act, telling Cook: "You are hereby fired from your position on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, effective immediately."
The firing stemmed from a criminal referral dated August 15, 2025, alleging Cook submitted conflicting mortgage documents for properties in Michigan and Georgia.
Trump stressed his duty to enforce the law, stating: "The executive power of the United States is vested in me as President... I have determined that faithfully executing the law requires your immediate firing from office."

At the heart of the firing is a criminal referral sent on August 15, 2025, from Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte to Attorney General Pam Bondi. That referral accused Cook of falsifying records to obtain more favorable mortgage terms, highlighting discrepancies between a $203,000 Ann Arbor home she purchased in June 2021 and a $540,000 Atlanta condo she purchased just two weeks later. In both cases, Cook affirmed the properties would serve as her "primary residence." By 2022, however, the Atlanta condo was listed for rent, raising concerns that she misrepresented the mortgage status and potentially failed to disclose rental income.
Trump wrote in his letter that the referral was sufficient to establish cause for firing under 12 U.S.C. § 242: "You signed one document attesting that a property was an owner-occupied residence while you signed another attesting that the same property was an investment property."
The president underscored the importance of integrity in the Federal Reserve's leadership: "The Federal Reserve has tremendous responsibility for setting interest rates and regulating financial markets and banks. That authority must only be vested in officials who are beyond reproach."

Black "leaders" say it's "racist" to fire a black government official for defrauding the government.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries noted that Lisa Cook is "the first Black woman ever to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors."

Yeah, so she's yet another Biden DEI hire. Is crime therefor legalized for her?

"Donald Trump is trying to remove her without a shred of credible evidence that she has done anything wrong," Jeffries said.

The evidence is that within the space of a month she declared two different homes her primary residence to get government-subsidized mortgage rates.

The Congressional Black Caucus also condemned Trump's unprecedented actions: "In the 111-year history of the Federal Reserve, no president has ever attempted to remove a governor of the central bank until now."
"Let's be clear: this is a racist, misogynistic, and unlawful attack on the integrity and independence of the Federal Reserve," the caucus said in a statement.

Fuck you.

As you know, Trump has his eye on the Fed because they refuse to cut interest rates -- a favor they did for Biden even in the face of never-ending "transitory" inflation.

The pressure might have gotten to Fed chief Jerome Powell, because he's hinting at a likely quarter-point fed rate cut in September. That's the smallest possible cut, but it's still a cut.

Powell is a honkey sucker pig-head jive turkey fool. I think he is dragging this out as long as possible, trying to thwart Trump to the very end. He'll say all the right things, and then do nothing. Trump should have fired him within hours after being sworn in.

Rates should be at least a full point less than they are now. Yes, I know there is disagreement on that here. I won't engage other than to say those who think the rates are fine where they are are wrong.

And the reason for reducing the rates isn't the market. The market doesn't need it. The market is at record highs. The main reason to reduce rates is to help the middle class and to reduce interest on the debt. Right now, almost everyone is paying more on mortgage interest, loan interest, small business loans, etc.

At some point, Powell will have to relent, but it may be too little too late. The amount of additional interest charges that mortgage-holders have paid because of Powell is in the 100s of billions.

I'd entertain that defense if some complexity tripped her up. But she apparently claimed different addresses would be her primary residences in documents to obtain a lower mortgage within a 2-week period. That's just fraud. But like I've said here recently, it appears that large numbers of people lie in mortgage and loan documents and just don't expect the paperwork to ever come to light.

Federal officials have a duty to report misconduct of other officials involving possible crimes. Same as a teacher seeing a possible beaten or trafficked child has to notify school authorities and/or the police directly of concerns.

Bill Pulte, head of Federal Housing Finance Administration is supervisor over federal home loan guarantees and thus is reporting to the DoJ, his official findings of possibly criminal activities for investigation. The cause statutory std for firing btw does not require actual criminal charges but simply demonstrated unethical actions affecting the ability of the person to do the job. In this case, Fed Reserve is directly supervising national banks in lending so an unethical director engaged in personal misconduct over home loans is scarcely able to then regulate that industry.

Also causes problems in court for the Fed if they are trying to pursue enforcement actions while keeping Cook as a governor.

For my entire lifetime, the real rate has always been higher than what the fed artificially depresses it to for overnight lending to help out their buddies in the markets and on the left side of the aisle.

Once enough people come to understand that the current or soon to be real rate is lower than what the fed says it is, the fed dies as a laughingstock.

They were eventually cleared of any wrongdoing (like insider trading), but the look of it was bad enough that they just cleared out their desks without being fired by Biden.

"“The disparity of the public response and the IG’s seemingly accurate conclusion that the trades complied with the rules as they existed is a clear testament to the woeful inadequacy of the rules that were in place,” said Kathryn Judge, a Columbia Law School professor.

“Just because they have been cleared by the IG doesn’t mean they have been cleared by the public or their peers,” Judge said, adding that this can serve as a check against inadequate ethics rules."

I read the EO yesterday, notice the AOS thread which not surprisingly was a shit show devoid of actual First Amendment precedent, etc. so it derived down to 'optics', muh feelz, etc.

Trying to avoid those threads more and more as it affects the digestion, solves precisely nothing other than venting, and is less than informative signals versus noise.

I only consider media stories remotely useful unless you get a couple of corroborations or I don't care about which particular celebutard's kid is going trans this week.

I'm not sure how lying on a mortgage document (you sign for two properties each in two different states saying that they are primary residences, when neither is your primary residence) is a minor infraction - especially for a Fed governor.

In the last 4 years, three Fed officials resigned at least in part due to trading ahead of pandemic-related information: Eric Rosengren, Robert Kaplan and Richard Clarida. Nobody charged them with a crime, but the optics of the offenses were such that they resigned. If it's good enough for them, it should be good enough for Cook.

First house I bought, I was self employed. I had to put down 25%, document where that money came from and that was not gifted or loaned to me. I had to bring in 5 years of tax returns, and a current balance sheet and P&L sheets up to the signing of the mortgage. I know the savings & loan checked on everything and made calls for all the documentation authenticity. Oh and had to pay 16% mortgage rate on an adjustable.

It was a less criminal time, more sane time, a more white male business driven time. In shore a better time.

Welp, we gave the most recent iteration of a central bank over 100 years to prove its usefulness. I think the natural experiment of central bank versus no central bank has sufficient evidence to discard it as a bygone relic of central planning. Dollar more or less kept its value for over 1 century after the founding with most of that period lacking a central bank. Since the Fed was created in 1913, US dollar has lost about 96 percent of its value and the Federal Government, despite the inflation, has massively indebted itself to the point of bankruptcy.

That is scarcely the sound currency and fiscal policies that our Founders wanted for this nation.

Two styles. The first style is pants that are made to be worn inside out, so the zipper/buttons are reversed so make it easy to zip up. Some of these are expensive, north of $300.

The second style is to just take any jeans and put them on inside out. I never tried it myself, but I assume the zipper can be closed with some effort. But who knows? Maybe these idiots aren't zipping up.

Powell is a political hack. That was clear to me when the Fed raised rates 25bps in Dec 2018, when there was absolutely no reason to do so, other than Trump recommended not to and the financial press wanted Powell to show his independence from Trump and resist the pressure to keep rates the same - if not lower them. Powell listened to CNBC and Bloomberg and raised rates, only to reverse himself and lower them later when the market took a dump - as Trump predicted.

In the Executive branch, such forced sales to be allowed to have a post, are tax free.

Sometimes I put down less assets than I really have. Why would I do that? Because like for car loan, I plan to negotiate the shit outta the price of the car. The more assets he sees, the more he may think "this guy is worth $X and he's beating me down over $500?"

This is something that I always liked when someone explained 'The Founder's' theory of government to me: They knew people were shit and corrupt. They knew that corrupt assholes would be drawn to power. So One, they wanted to limit severely the power of the government. Two, they tried to set up the system where 'The Wrong people would do the Right thing- because it benefited them to do so.'

That's an IRS deduction. That's different than bullshitting a bank. You can only put down one primary residence on your tax returns. If you sell that primary residence, you get whatever capital gains deduction you get. You can't just say "X is my primary residence" to get the deduction.

I think that's right, IIRC. If you try to play games with this on your tax return, you could get away with it. If not, they will come after you for back taxes and penalties. So there's much more of a risk in bullshitting the IRS than bullshitting a bank.
