Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Wednesday Overnight Open Thread - August 27, 2025 [DJ Jazzy Rex]![]() Good evening Horde. The time has come for mid-week shenanigans of the overnight variety. Welcome to the Wednesday night ONTwhich means another random assortment of interweb hoo ha and what not. Pull up a chair and sit a spell. Be nice to your fellow commenters and AoS contributors.![]() For tonight's ONT, let's get past bands and focus on collaborations. Looking for those few magic moments when two artists who have found success on their own take the risk to make music together. This isn't when a guest musician sits in or makes a surprise appearance during a live concert. This isn't a duet with singers taking the lead on different parts. A collaboration is when two or more musicians get into a studio and create something new that is good on its own merits. Could be a single song or a full album. As usual, will need grey box help on this one. DJ Rex has a small brain and short arms which makes music a challenge. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sept 17 April 8 Sept 23 Sept 24 (tie) Oct 1 (tie) Feb 12 April 29 March 4 April 16 March 5 Bottom 10: Feb 29 Dec 25 Dec 26 Jan 1 Jan 26 April 25 Dec 27 Dec 28 Dec 24 Dec 13 Conclusions: Early summer and Christmas are popular times for conception Nothing happens in March A tiny uptick in mid-November might be Valentines' Day? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Written correspondence can be sent to moronhobbies at protonmail dot com. There's a strong diurnal pattern with births as well. They peak during the early morning, between 2 - 4AM, and taper off during late afternoon and early evening. Interestingly, that varies with season a bit as well. In Winter, lower overall number of births, that early morning peak gets sharper. In summer, it's a little more spread out. It appears that artificial lighting is smoothing that diurnal pattern out some. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 27, 2025 10:32 PM (w6EFb) 108

Myocarditis and Pericarditis are serious, there is no such thing as a “mild” case; beware as they seem to be trying to downplay this. It is permanent, it might not kill you right away, but it is a serious defect. It would have been more than enough to prevent Approval if they had bothered testing, I expect.

This seasonal variation interested me and I've been reading around. There's a lot more "medical intervention" and "scheduling" going on now via induced labor, which is skewing the natural pattern. My gut is that's probably not a good thing. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 27, 2025 11:29 PM (w6EFb) 274

Really like his song, 'Garden Party'. Bought the album. When people thumbing through the collection when I was in college would come across that album, it always raised a few eyebrows. Iran snap-back sanctions thing is likely the result of several things. US seriousness, leadership, and coercion under the OrangeMan certainly leads the list, but clearly there are others.
Israel demonstrating it really really wasn't kidding about doing whatever was needed to prevent Iran's bomb was surely a large factor as well in getting the feckless Euroweenies to play ball. But the stage was somewhat set even before. Europe has of course been criminally recklessly irresponsible on Iran, just as it was on Iraq until it blew up in their face. But the IAEA has been blunt for some time that Iran was in late break-out stage, and an actually nukyler Iran is a sobering thought to the heretofore reckless self-dealing Euros..
