39 Greetings and good morning, one and all! Things are improving steadily here in my section of the GPROMD. My brother's gift was finally delivered yesterday, a mere two weeks after his birthday. I took my dog to the vet to get his thyroid levels checked and he was a very good boy for the vet techs.

So it's Friday, I will be making coffee soon and having an apple fritter left over from yesterday.

Mascots have been part of advertising from the beginning, or at least since the 1920s. Speedy Alka-Seltzer, Tony the Tiger, the Esso/Exxon Tiger in Your Tank, and hundreds more. I recall an ad for a product some years ago which used the concept of "The Rest Home for Retired Advertising Mascots," featuring Tony and many others. A shame if business is going to give up on them.

69 The video in the ONT of one local Cracker Barrel makes the store look awfully bland. Part of what people liked, or at least I did, was the rustic look of the walls inside and out. Every CB I've been in has a big fireplace -- not something we need most of the year around here, but when it's cool-to-cold I liked to sit near it or even just look at it. Eating out is not only about the food.

In some fields and occupations, taking a day off is challenging.

Sometimes coming back from a day off and catching up can take a weeks and cause you even more stress.

116 How about going to the NoVa school perversion topic?, I was once required to study some snippets of law regarding healthcare encounters. IIRC, under Virginia law minors were considered “emancipated minors” if seeking obstetrical care or STD care. I haven’t seen any of these details mentioned in the Fairfax County school scandal. The initial referral of a pregnant minor for supposedly obstetrical care might be used in criminal defense if the minor wasn’t taken directly to an abortion clinic.
