Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Booby Attack Cafe![]() The false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens) is a species of oceanic dolphin that is the only extant representative of the genus Pseudorca. It is found in oceans worldwide but mainly in tropical regions. It was first described in 1846 as a species of porpoise based on a skull, which was revised when the first carcasses were observed in 1861. The name "false killer whale" comes from having a skull similar to the orca (Orcinus orca), or killer whale. The false killer whale reaches a maximum length of 6 m (20 ft), though size can vary around the world. It is highly sociable, known to form pods of up to 50 members, and can also form pods with other dolphin species, such as the common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus). It can form close bonds with other species, as well as have sexual interactions with them.Just like a dolphin. But the false killer whale has also been known to eat other dolphins, though it typically eats squid and fish. It is a deep-diver; maximum known depth is 927.5 m (3,043 ft); maximum speed is around 29 km/h (18 mph).An evil river otter being pure evil. Never. Stop. Herding. A couple of old friends. Years ago I linked the story of Pirate, an absolutely adorable senior dog who spent seven years in the shelter -- and that after living for years as a street dog. No one wanted this old dog, despite how beautiful she was. I always wondered what happened to her. I came across an update, noting that Pirate had sadly died, as old dogs do. But she had a wonderful few years after finally being rescued from the kennel. Bull pushes his drunken owner home from the cantina. Dog shocks itself on electric fence, and donkey laughs and laughs. Older basset hound teaches puppy how to use the doggy door. This sheep is a real wiseacre. Bear doesn't like his look in the mirror. Videos of great queues of people climbing Mt. Everest. It's so crowded nobody goes there anymore. Another cute little kitty-cat. And more kitty-cats. Rhino and son. A nice part of Lake Como, because George Fucking Clooney isn't there. Dog thought the sermon was meh.

I’m not sure about that Everest vid. I think that’s another mountain or a different route to the top of Everest than normal. The reason Everest is so popular and crowded is that it’s a relatively easy route to the top, with built-in defined approaches. You can watch documentaries on it, and it’s doesn’t usually involve getting over crevasses like that.

When I looked into it, it was 60k on the low end. The package I was looking at was closer to 100k. But it takes 3 months, there’s no guarantee of a summit, and above base camp there’s no hygiene facilities. What do you do if you have to piss or shit while on a climb? You don’t want to know. They found Mallory's body and Irvine's foot. It's likely they summited, but fell on the descent at 1:27 am. See Michael Tracy's videos on You Tube. When they found Mallory, they removed letters and personal effects that have never been made public. They also botched searching the body as they fidn't look for summit rocks.

There was a interesting game "Source of the Nile" where the entire interior was empty and you fitted out expeditions to explore. If your expedition was wiped out, you erased the map that you had discovered. Big expeditions seemed the way to go, but one small hiccup and they all fell apart. It was surprisingly effective to explore solo and get back home to glory.

They did carry primitive oxygen apparatus, that’s why Andy was selected by Mallory in favor of more experienced climbers , he was the jack of all trades fix anything kinda guy, but he was especially adept with the cantankerous O2 regulators.
It looks like somebody slipped and tried self-arrest but dragged whoever was on belay or whatever down a couple thousand feet. It’s doubtful either made the summit. Maybe. If they found Mallory’s camera that might lay matters to rest. In the high altitude cold, there would still maybe usable images. Posted by: Common Tater at August 22, 2025 08:23 PM (V9VN1) 122

Mallory's watch was stopped at 1:27. He had it in his pocket and it's believed he fell on it. And since his googles were in his pocket, that meant it was night time. This was one of the earliest attempts to climb it. All that points to dying on the descent. And Mallory did try to self arrest and survived the fall for a time, with a broken leg. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at August 22, 2025 08:21 PM (kkTda) —— True, but not in the way most people think. The descent is most dangerous because climbers often stay too long on the summit or trying to reach it. They can calculate the weather with surprising accuracy in terms of when to climb, and even how long the window is. But if you stay too long — and many do — you run huge risks of bad weather on the way down. That catastrophe in the 1990s (they made movies about it) was 100% that they stayed too long at the summit. Posted by: davidt at August 22, 2025 A lot, if they can even get to them, like a whole whole lot. Sherpas don't handle dead bodies. Anglo climbers have gone up and put rock cairns over some bodies. Others are pushed into crevasses. Almost none are retrieved.

From anti-Israel zerohedge; ""... foreign minister Casper Veldkamp (center-right New Social Contract party) stepped down in protest "Over twenty countries, including many in Europe and Netherlands among them, have this week signed a joint declaration condemning Israel's approval of a major West Bank settlement project, dubbing it "unacceptable and contrary to international law." Parallel to the situation in the United States, the Dutch right is beginning to split on Israel - as more and more conservatives, and especially young people begin to question their governments' constant support of Israel"" -------------- The other day someone mentioned how odd it is this anti-Israel sentiment popping up here, there and and all around the net. Re stuff in orbit. Right now, there are around 50,000 pieces of shit > 10 cm in size in orbit. NORAD tracks all of those. There are millions of pieces of smaller stuff.
Look up "Kessler Syndrome". We're not there yet, but it's a potential future problem. Democratic Party loyalist judges are mounting a rebellion–one might say, an insurrection–against the rule of law. They are trying to serve their party by impeding the Trump administration even where there is no good faith legal basis for doing so. This is an outrage. It won’t get as much public attention as other bad faith conduct by the Democratic Party, but it should.
