The Colorado Rockies are screwing everything up. Earlier in the year they were on Pace to lose between 125 and 130 games. Lately they've been on a tear and are now on a pace to only lose 117 games, three games short of the miserable Mets 120 loss season.

"How did you extract the remainder of the bushing?"
I had gotten the old one out three days ago by drilling out the rubber, cutting a longitudinal slit on the outer shell and collapsing it in on itself. The pressing in required filing and shaping several which flat washers to be able to fit into the restricted opening behind the bushing in the sub-frame, and drawing it into place with a grade 8 nut and bolt. Most of the time was spent on shaping the metal washers to an exact fit. Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at August 17, 2025 05:49 AM (a1415) 36

A former local newsanchor, an attractive blonde named Helena Moreno who went into politics about twenty years ago, is now running for mayor. This just doesn't read like a, I dunno, legal document?
The superseding indictment alleges that CANTRELL and VAPPIE perpetuated their scheme both in New Orleans and during out-of-state trips. In both instances, VAPPIE’s activities while claiming to be on duty were conspicuously different than any other member of the Executive Protection Unit. While in New Orleans, they treated a city-owned apartment in the Pontalba as their personal, shared residence and coordinated to spend time together there, engaging in personal activities, while VAPPIE claimed to be on duty for EPU and was paid to be doing his job. CANTRELL occasionally canceled scheduled work events to facilitate personal and intimate interactions with VAPPIE in the Pontalba apartment. Posted by: m at August 17, 2025 06:31 AM (aURVT) 65
That Verge airline safety piece mentions 1k passenger accident deaths per year from 1960 to 1990 yet only one/tenth the amount of air travel. It fails to mention the number one cause of those accounts were controlled flight into terrain. And that the safety advancement that many cured all that is the Ground Proximity Warning System.

I read an article about Hurricane Erin yesterday from CNN and a quarter (at least one or two sentences every other paragraph) of the article was blaming it all on Climate Change.
“It’s the fastest intensification of a hurricane to Category 5 in history, blah blah blah, warming waters, Climate Change.” It was a little storm that hit very warm waters in the Caribbean with perfect conditions in the upper atmosphere for it to grow quickly. It’s nothing new. Nothing to do with Climate Change at all. That the thing looks like it will miss all land, expect *maybe* a small piece of Newfoundland, is barely mentioned at the end of the article. I wish so hard that Trump would respond by saying the US is pulling out of NATO. Posted by: Martini Farmer at August 17, 2025 08:18 AM (Q4IgG) I’m sure the sun and sunspots have a lot more to do with climate than CO2. As for hurricanes, and overall climate patterns, I think the Pacific Oscillation (El Nino/La Nina) cycles are much more impactful than they want to admit. When there is an El Niño it’s hot and dry here in the South. La Niña gives us cooler and wetter weather. Usually El Niños are more active hurricane seasons, opposite for La Niñas. I generally like Bonchie, and read a lot of his stuff on RedState but he has the childish view that all of this is the bad man in the Kremlin’s fault and the U.S. and E.U. did nothing wrong to get us to this point.
Putin warned this was going to happen for years if NATO kept encroaching eastward. Once again, we would not be here if NATO had invited Russia in when Putin was begging to join twenty years ago. Instead, he was snubbed and it was full speed ahead on turning Ukraine into a NATO forward operating base. Until people in the West realize this salient point this war will never end. Judge Sparkle L. Sooknanan - I swear I am not making this up - said that nothing Media Matters was doing was illegal and in any case they had already stopped with most of the illegal stuff.
-- How can one determine there was no illegal activity (even though there are strong signs of such) without an investigation? Oh, that's right. Leftist activist judge simply deems nothing illegal happened because Democrats. No investigations needed. Gotcha. Posted by: Lady in Black at August 17, 2025 08:46 AM (qBdHI) 187
Anybody remember Paul Manafort? He was temporarily Trump's campaign manager.
Until he was indicted on bogus bullshit that came from Ukraine. You can't fix a problem until you know what caused the problem. -- Problem being, if there are no prosecutions, the next D president we get (and it's only a matter of time) the whole, rancid attacks and subterfuge by them will begin again. And be even more ramped up. There's no turning back for them as it is. Without severe penalty (imprisonment), it will just get worse. I'm sure we all know that. Yet, nobody in the weather forecasting sphere of influence seems to talk about how active the sun has been over the last 18 months. Or that the sun typically waxes and wanes in energy/activity every decade or so.

Back when I sat staring at the lights on my Missile Status Indicator Panel 60 feet below the cornfields of Nebraska I knew how important it was to be able to "push the button" to kill commies for mommy.
In 1991 the commies gave up. The Warsaw Pact folded up. I never had a special problem with the Russians. They had their interests like any other country. But I do have a special problem with commies anywhere and everywhere. Including in the US and the EU. Posted by: Minuteman at August 17, 2025 08:53 AM (47/pr) 199
The EUies would gladly sacrifice every Ukrainian and every American to protect this graft machine in Ukraine.
The only other time they fight this hard over something is to keep their pet immigrants and their leftist censorship regime. The EU has turned into a slightly upscale version of the USSR, and the only thing keeping us from the same fate is Trump & MAGA. Posted by: SpeakingOf at August 17, 2025 08:54 AM (6ydKt) 200

Have you ever wondered why Soros, who is obviously corrupt, has never been investigated? Hell, he wasn't even allowed to be talked about until a couple of years ago. Soros made most of his money working with the CIA doing regime changes. You can't run a color revolution without NGOs. Posted by: JackStraw at August 17, 2025 08:59 AM (viF8m) 204
