That said I'm in the minority as I don't like his later style where viewing his paintings is like looking through dirty scratchy plexiglass. The Houston museum has one of his that is not in that style and it's great.

77 There are so many small details that make this painting so effective and emotional. The beacon trying to warn vessels but they are overcome by the power of the ocean. The bits of wreckage, heavy wood and cordage broken and tossed like toys, the tiny bit of red in the lower corner, perhaps as the ship's ensign goes under. The bits of blue sky showing through the storm clouds is so realistic and adds to the power of the storm by contrast. And Carmichael captured the look and color of water crashing against a shoal. You can hear the roar of wind and water. It is a frightening scene wonderfully portrayed. Check out Carmichael's other seascapes, some calm, some stormy. They are all excellent.

Chosen by accident as hurricane Erin approaches shore? I think not!

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. I keep one current version of Windows on a dual boot machine simply to do taxes. Another serves as a dedicated scanner for media, etc. and since the drivers for those will never be ported to Windows 11, it shall stay Windows 10 until it dies or the digitization project is finished.

I keep a very old Win 7 and even Windows XP simply to host stat and math programs that are far too expensive to upgrade to current versions (not that the new ones have added much worthwhile anyway).

If you do have older Windows versions, Legacy Update website is your friend to download as many of the updates necessary that are no longer available at Microsoft. If you must use one of these to go online for anything other than legacy drivers, Panda Antivirus or Clam AV for Windows are lightweight protectors.

Hitman is a decent malware protector for older computers as well all the way down to XP versions.

Replacing a power supply on an old Lenovo Core computer 2010 era so that my wife can use it at school as a dedicated powerpoint machine.

Hopefully it did not kill the memory or the motherboard when it died on startup.

Depends on whether you like to build one out or simply use it until it drops. Laptops, other than the expensive Framework models, are throwaways when they break--you can upgrade a desktop if you start with a very good power supply, keyboard, and peripherals.

Store bought desktop brands are more like throwaway laptops at the low end--at the high end, you can get some decent build quality from a few makers focusing on gaming. Most flexibility is from building it your self as you can choose every component. Choosing quality ones over lowest cost bidder shit on power supplies, memory, motherboards, and peripherals allow for longer use and upgrades as necessary.

Now they have an NHL team, an NFL team, and a MLB team -- and I've heard talking heads predicts soon an NBA team (Jerry Tarkanian's UNLV Runnin' Rebels aside).

If seriously limited in space, consider the Framework laptop series--these are designed to allow upgrading and replacement even of screens and motherboards as available.

Otherwise a throwaway gaming cube might work well if you don't want bleeding edge stuff--those get up to the price of a Framework laptop if you start adding peripherals like external gpus and a top of the line cpu/memory etc.

Not really for gaming but Apple, to its credit with its new M series chips actually is making some excellent mini cube desktop systems that are also portable if you had to do it.

If you want to know why Trump hasn't gone Attila the Hun on employers yet over I-9 and e-verify?
Because several states will drop the hammer on employers if they cooperate with ICE.

Currently, the admin is litigating Illinois' laws banning employers from using ANY method to verify citizenship.
And the law requires employers to notify the state--in advance--of an immigration raid.
That they must notify the state if ICE requests a records review.
There's a whole lot of other BS like that.

Which IL is arguing isn't preempted by federal immigration law b/c it's state employment law.
There are similar laws in other states.
That they can punish employers for following federal law, in effect.

They are all going to lose. They know it. Their arguments are weak AF. They are just milking the clock in hopes of something.

By this time next year, we should have at least 3, maybe 5 circuits with rulings that these laws are unconstitutional.

At that point, Trump will unleash the hounds.

I think the NFL is about to learn a Bud Light lesson.

In our house, watching football was a family activity. Adults, kids everybody having a good time watching the Cowboys play. Very family friendly.

But, now if i had young kiddos. Do I want them exposed to a bunch of trannies prancing around?

No, I do not.

I don't mind explaining the rules of football to the little niblets. I have no desire explaining the mental illness of sexually confused lunatics.

I would simply not watch.

I suspect a lot of parents are going to feel the same way.

But, we'll see.

257 Not to put too fine a point on it, but the longer a body is in the water, the harder it is to identify it.

258 If they were old school male cheerleaders, then it would probably be fine. Not anything new or odd. However, in the clips I've seen, it's like drag - they are moving just like the female cheerleaders (hip swings and thrusts, etc.). These teams made that choice -- to be gayyyyy.

Not sure about any of the others, but the Ravens have had dudes among their cheerleading squad since their inception in the 90s. They're the old school type who lift up the ladies and use megaphones. At least that's what I recall from when I used to pay attention.

The NFL has been far far left for about 10 years. The lesson they learned is sportsball addicts will give us money no matter what we do.

I kind of suck at getting PS3 ISOs to work in RPCS3.

I was wary of Win11, but have found that the BillGatesisms can be thwarted. I have no login, custom desktop, and no copilot nor recall. It takes some work.

Can't dancing gays dance like Fred Astaire, or do they have to dance like unpopular girls who are trying way to hard to make the dance squad?
