The New York Times frets that Christian women are "Thin, White, and Right." Do they not know that Real Health is a three-bill black woman doing simple stretches on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine? No, the idea was not that you had to be "rail thin." It was just that morbid obesity was not healthy and should not be promoted as such. (Note that many of the "stars" of that fat acceptance movement died in their thirties.) They still can't cope with people eating... protein. Protein is Nazi-coded. This is a liberal claiming that she wishes she had a religious-like structure that will tell her what to think about everything. The religion -- You're soaking in it. This will not surprise any of you, but a new study links cellphone use by kids with mental illness. And once kids become mentally ill, don't count on psychologists to help them. They're focusing laser-like on Woke Cures.
I missed this from a few weeks back: Two "bioethicists" -- they're actually political extremist mad scientists -- propose infecting humanity, without its consent, with an incurable disease which will render them unable to eat meat. They want to spread this disease... via ticks. A case in point--and there are many others, including those approving ghoulish experiments on children in "gender affirming care," "death with dignity," and experiments on aborted fetuses--is this pair of Western Michigan University "bioethicists" who want to infect human beings with a disease that makes people allergic to meat. Because ticks transmit the disease, they called their paper in the journal Bioethics "Beneficial Bloodsucking." How appropriate. Here is the abstract:"But we're the experts!" the lunatics babbled in their padded cells.

"Our data indicates that early smartphone ownership -- and the social media access it often brings -- is linked with a profound shift in mental health and well-being in early adulthood," says lead author, neuroscientist Dr. Tara Thiagarajan, the founder and Chief Scientist of Sapien Labs.
I can't remember if I read this or saw this in a podcast (might have been on Chris Williamson YouTube interviews), but an interesting theory is that a child's brain is not developed enough to handle such a large world at early ages. Prior to the social media era, children grew up knowing only their families and a few friends in play groups. Then their social group grew when they started elementary school. Then their social group grew more when they went to high school. Then their social group grew more when going to college or starting a career. That was the normal progression of growing up. You would gradually expand your world as you became more mature, and as your brain became more mature to handle it. Now, though, with social media, kids' social groups now include the entire world, instead of just a few people they know in real life. It's a massive adjustment. From the New York Post:
Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has addressed why he wears jeans to exercise after videos of him working out in the unorthodox athletic attire raised eyebrows. Kennedy revealed that the unusual sartorial choice is just a matter of habit during an interview on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” Tuesday. “Well, I just started doing that a long time ago because I would go hiking in the morning and then I’d go straight to the gym, and I found it was convenient, and now I’m used to it, so I just do it,” he told Watters when asked about his outfit. I know this is becoming redundant but do you know who else was super focused on forcing people to be healthy??? JFK had policies focusing on health. Obama also had a policy focusing on health. I wonder if Rachel realizes that because of government healthcare, the incentive is to save the government money by either making people be healthy or making people die. Zombie had a great essay on this in 2009 regarding socialized healthcare. And how if we are taxed to pay for people's healthcare, then it becomes our business that people live healthy lifestyles so they're not taking our money to pay for their unhealthy lifestyle. The “experts” have had this long simmering resentment of what they call “conventional standards of beauty”, it’s only in recent years where they’ve had success in hectoring society at large and punishing everyone by installing hideous water buffaloes and land whales on billboards and magazine covers. I have successfully dropped about 30-35 pounds the last 2 years.
I started with Intermittant Fasting. It works for me. I always ate breakfast, so I just gave up breakfast and pushed it to 10:00 or 11:00. Noon if possible. I lost 2-3 pounds per month and kept it off. I also started walking with a weighted vest and worked to get at least 10,000 steps and up my activity. I lift weights sporadically throughout the day (I work from home) and I do some morning stretches and plank for the abdomen. I usually stop eating by 4:00 or 5:00 pm. Now, I am not perfect, and I am not obsessive about my eating schedule but I am mindful and on special occasions I don’t worry about it. I IF about 90-95% of the time. I eat lots of meat and protein. I am fitter and healthier now as a 59 year old woman and I feel good. 5 years ago during covid, I felt horrible. Who didn’t, right? So that is my secret to some success. Exercise benefits the body and the mind. It’s very true. Posted by: Czech Chick at August 22, 2025 05:40 PM (vK/Ja) Posted by: Blonde Morticia at August 22, 2025 05:40 PM (6eO0F) 50

Here’s my personal gainzzz… two years ago I had a knee replacement. My cardio of choice has been running for years… I was determined to run again; my ortho surgeon wasn’t enthusiastic but did not forbid the ambition.
Long story short: I’m now running about the same number of miles weekly as I did pre-replacement. The prosthetic is holding up quite nicely…. It will NEVER feel as good as the original or work as well… but it’s good enough. I’m moving…. Definitely not as fast but I would’ve slowed down with age anyway BTW…. It was really, really hard to learn to run again. Really hard…. Physically hard but even more difficult mentally to trust that prosthetic. Lots of orthos would forbid this so I suspect I’m among a very tiny minority that returns to running after replacement Posted by: LinusVanPelt at August 22, 2025 05:41 PM (/DBoU) 54

Sept 15th will be the two year anniversary of me starting my weightlifting program in the gym. Since then, I've been going five days a week. Three lifting days, two cardio days. When I miss a day, I go on Saturday. The only times I haven't done my normal workout is when I'm on vacation, and I've been pretty good at doing something in the hotel gym.
I brought my deadlift up to 450, my squat to 370, and my bench to 255. I can see a big difference in my legs, shoulders, chest, arms, and rear. I've had some issues with keeping my calories on budget. I get really hungry sometimes, and it's hard not to overeat. But I've been pretty good at not getting discouraged and simply trying again when I get off track with my diet. Posted by: bonhomme at August 22, 2025 05:43 PM (lIio7) 62

I got gainzzz to report! About a year ago I tweaked my diet by limiting my caloric intake a little more carefully (I had already been doing I/F for a couple years, but with no weight loss). I'm down around 15 lbs which puts me at my college weight, more or less. I started doing calisthenics 3X / week after I was off light-duty from surgery. I'm still not what I would call "fit", but I have added some muscle mass and the abs are tighter than they've been in a long time. At my age, slow and steady is the way to go.

Here's what I eat: 1 slice of toast with coffee and OJ (1g) Lunch is Greek yogurt with 1/4 cup of Grape Nuts (4g). I let them sit for 15 minutes so it's less like chewing gravel. Add carrots or granola for 2g plus a sandwhich (2g wheat bread) or soup wiht beans and such (4g) Snacks: Pretzel rods (1 g), canned pears (7g), raspberries (6g), Triscuits (3-6 depending how much I eat). Also ice cream with Fiber One. (4-6g). Popcorn has a lot of fiber, too. The goal is to hit 25g/day, which isn't that hard. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. As of this week I'm officially down 50lbs from my high of 285. I hit 235 on Tuesday, all while improving my muscle ratio. Yes I'm on a GLP-1 but I'm also walking 30 minutes every morning on the treadmill and immediately following that by situps. Then after work on Monday thru Thursday I'm working out for 30 minutes with a personal trainer. Yesterday I managed to incline press the 75lbs free weights which was an all time high. I know I still have a ways to go but that felt good. Posted by: Defenestratus at August 22, 2025 06:18 PM (WYStd) 200

I guess I need to start watching what I eat as I get older. I rarely eat fast food any more but I’ve replaced that bad with probably just as bad pre-made cold or frozen food cooked in the microwave. The Hormel beef roast though is excellent and goes great with the pre made mash potatoes. I eat that 3 or 4 times a week.
One good thing is I’ve never been a sugar craving person and rarely eat dessert or candy. Posted by: polynikes at August 22, 2025 06:19 PM (EYmYM) 208

I didn't list the meat in my diet because it has no fiber. It's free. The hard part is finding the fiber.
I've got a system of buying roasts when the go on sale, and slicing them into steaks, freezing them, and when needed thawing them in a marinade that also tenderizes them and then cooking them on the grill or air fryer coated with seasonings and olive oil. Ace, your timing on this post is perfect!
Yesterday I saw my hematologist, and learned that the iron condition I've been struggling with since October 2023 is under control! I have iron overload--the opposite of anemia. It's hereditary--my twin brother had it too. Iron stores up in the liver and other places instead of being used. It's treated by diet--iron-rich foods like beef come off the menu--and by having a pint of blood drawn every few weeks. A pint's a pound, and I don't have any to spare, so I've really had to struggle. But now I can eat beef again! And, as my doctor said, Enjoy my libations!
