Paramount said it will pay $16 million upfront to cover Trump's legal expenses and donate to his future presidential library, according to multiple reports Wednesday. As part of the settlement, the company also agreed to release full written transcripts of future 60 Minutes interviews with presidential candidates. In addition to the lump sum payment, it is anticipated that CBS will air eight figures worth of advertisements, PSAs, or similar content promoting conservative causes for free, a source familiar with the negotiations and settlement deal told the Washington Free Beacon. While Paramount's current brass has disputed that provision, the incoming management team that is expected to take over after the company's merger with Skydance plans to honor it, the source said.

If I were a real journalist instead of a measly COB I would have asked the following question. Washington DC crime stats show an interesting drop in reported crime. Is there any dispute about the current crime stats????? Washington DC police commander suspended regarding crime stats.
A D.C. police commander is under investigation for allegedly making changes to crime statistics in his district. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint. The union claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year. Pulliam — the former commander of the 3rd District that patrols Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights — was placed on leave with pay and told he was under investigation for questionable changes to crime data, five law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told News4.This is how CBS reported the crime stats of DC.

IIRC anti-RKBA types generally mix and match suicide stats with murder stats.
So if you see "guns are more likely to be used in a crime then to defend yourself" the numbers they use count suicide as homicide. Of course this doesn't align with their nominal point but it doesn't matter to them.

Old scam got an upgrade with AI. Just a friendly warning. If you're like me, you've gotten telephone calls over the years where someone pretends to be a son or daughter that was arrested in another state, and needs you to send money for bail. I always looked forward to these calls, because they were so outlandishly amateurish. The caller sounds nothing like any of your kids. Maybe they even have an accent. It was hilarious, and I played along right up to the moment I didn't.
Well, the upgrade is that scammers are now sampling any voice put up on social media, researching their family and using AI to communicate with "unsuspecting" parents. They keep a library of phrases available to try and make it seem like a legit conversation. As AI gets better, so will this scam.
So, heads up. I'm wary that a lot of people are dumb enough to fall for this.

Any numbers can be faked. It's harder to do so for murder because there's an actual body.
Anything less than a murder, it can be much more easily ignored. Violent beating? Sure, it happened, but if I put it down as "misdemeanor assault", then it's not violent crime.

199 I worked a rehab construction job, pretty big, in Mesa AZ. I was clerk of the works, but used to turn a wrench or man a shovel now and then. The boss had some rentals over in CA and asked me, at the end of the Mesa job, if I wanted a few bucks doing some handyman stuff for a few weeks. I agreed. Some of his rentals were in Compton, little post WW2 2 bedrooms. Then I met his property management team. Two of the biggest Samoan guys that could go from smile to scowl in a second. Armed, but probably didn't need to be.

It's best to listen to them once they've been out there for a few weeks. If you go back and listen to these podcasts from even a month ago, it's very easy to see exactly how wrong they are. Those are the funniest scenarios. Listen to enough of those, and you get inoculated from the stuff they come out with in the present day. You can they see the mis/dis/malinformation coming.

Saw a vid of a guy in LA claiming the burned lots are being bought up by Chinese nationals, many wanting to buy 5-6 lots at a time. If true, sick. But since Newsome kicked out all the homeless in CA and rolled out the red carpet for the Chinese, we know who his real master is. Would not surprise me if true.

Can you fake climate data? CO2 measurments? Graduation and competency rates? Rape statistics? Payout rates? Vaccine acceptance rates? Bird flu statistics? Traning statistics?
Anything that can be hidden, concealed, falsified, or fudged will be if there is enough reason to do so, and they are hard enough to search or unimportant enough to play with.
I used to deal with multiple databases while living in a cubical in a room without windows I could see from my dusty desk. I mused quite a bit about the nature of reality, data, and what it would take to falsify things so completely that I would be unable to tell the difference from the databases and reality.
I tried to teach others how to check to see if the data held up across supposedly independent databases, and how to determine if databases relied to heavily on each other to be trusted as independent sources, as well.

British have a grand term for it--death by misadventure.

For some reason I know nothing about Japanese ownership of personal radios and ability to listen to foreign broadcasts, but gonna guess it was minimal. Ironic in a way, when one considers one of post-war Japan's first consumer electronics mainstays and precursor to world dominance (small transistor radios).
In any case the kempetai was as vigilant or more so than the German equivalent (Gestapo and SD), lifestyle and culture were not conducive to privacy and secrets. So listening to forbidden broadcasts was probably minimal.
