The Census Bureau Admits It Overcounted Democrat States and Delivered Them Five Extra Congressional Seats.
Trump Demands They Fix Their Error, Now.

Pretty amazing that they admit they did an "oopsie" but also want to let that "oopsie" stand until the next census in 2030.

Actually, until 2032, because the 2030 census's numbers won't be used for reapportionment of congressional seats until the following election in 2032.

Trump also wants illegal aliens excluded from the count, which is a heavier lift.

"I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024," Trump announced in a post on Truth Social. "People who are in our Country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

...

The 2020 Census, overseen by the Biden administration and its Deep State allies, was an unmitigated disaster -- and the fallout is still being felt. Even the Census Bureau itself -- hardly a bastion of conservative thought -- admitted that its 2020 Census was incorrect in at least 14 states.

According to the Bureau's own Post-Enumeration Survey (PES), eight states were overcounted while six were undercounted. But here's where it gets truly absurd: The Census Bureau claims it can't identify which groups were miscounted or where the errors occurred, citing "sample sizes within most states do not support such estimates." Translation? They know it was wrong, but they can't -- or won't -- say how or where.

The Census Bureau should not even be using "statistical sampling" to guess at the population of states. The Constitution calls for, and I quote, "an actual Enumeration" in the census -- an actual physical counting. It does not permit "statistical sampling," which, whoopsie!, always gets things wrong in favor of the Democrat Party.

This isn't just bureaucratic bungling; it's a dereliction of duty. And it's exactly why President Trump is right to call for a new, citizen-focused census. If the federal government can't even tell us who they miscounted or where, how can anyone trust the results?

These weren't random clerical errors, either. They were systemic failures that just so happened to benefit Democrats. Florida was robbed of not one, but two congressional seats. Texas lost out on another. Meanwhile, blue states like Minnesota and Rhode Island held onto seats they should have lost -- and Colorado was gifted a seat it was never entitled to. The fix was in.

Whoops!

Whoopsie!

18 Trump can and should fight the question of counting illegals in the courts, but he' got an easy out if he wants it.

No guessing at the number of illegals. They have to be counted.

And each census worker on this detail will have an ICE agent assigned with him. If someone identifies as an illegal you immediately deport.

After a few cases of this illegals will not allow themselves to be counted.

What are the legal technicalities involved in that demand? *Can* apportionment be recast under the rules, or is it set in stone - errors and all - no matter what unless the rules are changed?

There is another possible interpretation, Ace.

They could have applied statistical analysis to the *results* of the census and thus determined a high probability of error in the census, as opposed to using statistical analysis to *perform* the census. It's a tad ambiguous as written, and it could mean something other than your take on it.

Not that it matters. It's still a lie. They have the raw data, or they don't. Maybe Trump should instruct the DoJ to appoint a special prosecutor to look into the 2020 census and examine its records and paper trail.

They twist our founding documents to mean things they don’t mean, and pull shit out of their ass to include things never mentioned, much less intended.

Count ‘em if you want. They are not included for apportionments. You get to pay for ‘em out of your own pocket. Importing a new electorate of aliens is treason in a democracy. No way around that. Glad to see a chief executive willing to point out the obvious, I guess. This should have happened 45 years ago.

Sigh.

Every worthy organization, if it lasts long enough, eventually becomes a left-wing organization.

The latest example is FIRE (The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression), which for years fought the good fight against campus speech codes, and other campus-related restrictions on speech.

Guess what their two big issues are now?

First:

Arguing that foreigners here on student visas, other visas, and green cards have a Constitutional free-speech right to support terrorist organizations, and that the US government can't deport them or take other actions in response to their support of terrorist organizations.

In the view of FIRE, if you can't deport US citizens for supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, or ISIS, then you can't deport someone here on a student visa for supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, or ISIS.

Madness.

Their other Big Issue is defending Harvard and other antisemitic institutions, arguing that the Trump Administration can't cut off funding to them, just because they are Jew-hating cesspools.

Harvard has "free speech" rights, you see.

126 a Trump "census". It will be done in world record time and magically reveal the entire country is nothing but white repukes.

don't most undocumented immigrants avoid being recorded in the census?

The Census Bureau uses statistical models to estimate those who do not respond including non citizens. It can't be an exact count now because of nonresponse but the final census count comes as close as possible

considering how Trump really BLEW it for the last census... it was really one of his major fuck-ups, once you get past the way he bungled Covid.

It looks like his new strategy is to get the Commerce Dept to find all the illegal immigrants so they can report them to ICE, or scare them off so they aren't counted to hurt Blue states.

Exactly. If they aren't counted, Blue state counts go down causing less congressional seats. Besides the fact they will have more info to give to ICE. Either way they always have nefarious ulterior motives.

This Pew analysis from 2020 shows California, Texas & Florida would lose 1 seat each and Alabama, Ohio & Minnesota would gain 1 seat each if immigrants were removed.

200 it seem that it is constitutional to conduct a census more often than once per decade (assuming congressional funding approval, which I find unlikely)....... however, a new census DOES NOT trigger new reapportionment of Congressional Districts.......... look at Article I, Section II of the Constitution.......... Congress apportions Congressional Districts...... not the President.....and Congress does the apportioning once every ten years....... no matter how many census (censi? censuses?) are conducted during the decade.......... Congressional District apportioning is a core LEGISLATIVE BRANCH constitutional function, not an Executive Branch function, (whereas conducting a census is an executive branch function because Congress gave that responsibility to conduct a census to the Executive Branch in US Code Title 13)...... so what exactly is the purpose of a new census?????

I am not a lawyer, but I can read! What do the constitutional lawyers here say?

241 Let this sink in. Democrats don’t count on elections or democratic process to win. They count on manipulating the process through gerrrymandering, subverting the census count and undermining the electoral process.

Ask yourself- why dont they want to clean up voters rolls? Why are they against paper ballots? Why are they counting votes after Election Day?

The answer is is that if Democrats had to rely on a system that wasn’t manipulated, there would be about 10 in Congress.

It's harder these days because it's so easy to come up with a number, people can try to make it the number they want. And the Democrats are about power and they have the will to make that number what they want if they can get away with it.

After a few cases of this illegals will not allow themselves to be counted.

None of this even needs to be automated. Computers are mostly irrelevant. Each geographic region has to be divided down into parcels small enough that they can be counted by humans.

This is same for voting. Divide it down to get a number you like. Make it one block in the cities, or one sq. mile in the country. Or bigger or smaller, it doesn't matter. Then count.

Add up hierarchically until you have it done.

Elections should be precincts that can be hand counted. Then a public tally which is easy for locals to verify and easy to detect fraud.

I saw a place where they were trying to get data from IT department #1 by reading the CRT screen physically and dumping it into a PC database (borland's one, forget the name). They had an issue with missing data on import, and the manager had to spend a good chunk of Saturday's manually getting the missing ones. I found out that there was a special file or record for garbled import records and she could from that either re-read only those records or enter them manually.

430 1960 was the first census to use sampling instead of Complete Enumeration.

Baker vs Carr was decided in 1962, significantly impacting Congressional Redistricting.

Someone should compare urban-area population counts vs Congressional apportionment by party victory to see just how far back Dem-favoring apportionment had gone.

Posted by: geewhiz at August 07, 2025 03:35 PM (V87Oy)

431 Really the counting of illegals in the census was a mistake in the constitution. The founders never contemplated the concept of illegals, or that they might constitute a significant fraction of our population.

Illegals are here, illegally. They are not permeant residents. Ergo they should have no bearing on representation in congress. Why should they count...for anything?

Nah, make Puerto Rico a state, along with Aberta and Saskatchewan. As to DC - give all portions of the district with HOUSES back to the state from which it was taken in the first place. The Capital should be mostly public parks and buildings, with few residences.

People forget - The land was originally ceded to the federal government by Virginia and Maryland in 1790. After moving through various stages of federal and state approval, the Virginia portion was returned in March 1847.

There is a history to giving the land back to the states.
