The Morning Report — 8/7/25

MoElmo.jpg

Good morning kids. There was a mass shooting at Ft. Stewart yesterday and prayers for the victims and loved ones. No word on the motive, so I assume the propaganda complex is working overtime to circle the wagons and protect whatever Leftist Democrat mythological grievance group might be responsible or else lay the blame on MAGA. On that note,

So, evidently President Trump and team are mulling this over:

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald J. Trump said he will move to federalize the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., unless the city government, led by Mayor Muriel Bowser (D), reins in violent crime.. . Trump and Congress could move to revoke home rule for the capital and re-exert federal control entirely over the city.

The odds of this actually happening are well into the none end of the Slim to None scale for a number of reasons, all of them political, from the practical to the petty (hatred of President Trump).

WIth that as the set up, I would argue that the problems of Washington D.C. as a city regardless of the fact that it is the nation's capital, and the misery that local residents must endure (politicians notwithstanding [and they live in places like Alexandria and Silver Spring anyway]) pose less of a threat to us as a nation than California:

Case in point:

A nationally known California pastor is calling on parents of underage school children to pack up and leave the state if Assembly Bill 495 passes and is signed into law. The bill makes all underage California school children the target of traffickers and kidnappers—by design.  "This is the end of [parental rights]," Calvary Chapel Chino Hills Pastor Jack Hibbs told parishioners last week. "If this bill passes, I'm going to ask you [parents] to leave the state of California. You're going to have to pack up and you're gonna have to get out. You gotta get out. You gotta run with your kids. You gotta go." With this bill, California Democrats are going all-in on the destroy-the-village-to-save-it rationale for "saving" children illegally in the country, while endangering every other child as well. Indeed, all children legally or illegally in this country could be kidnapped or trafficked under this bill. We don't understand why it's acceptable to allow children illegally in the U.S. to be trafficked, but these Democrats are evil. They don't care about kids or their parents.  A visibly angry Hibbs warned parents attending Calvary Chapel Chino Hills recently that the bill "100% strips parents of their parental rights."

. . . Here's how we got here. Last spring, the California Assembly Democrats decided to cleverly switch the language of the California Family Code to somehow "protect" children illegally in the country from feared ICE raids by allowing shirttail relatives or, for that matter, perfect strangers to take them out of school or daycare. This was an apparent attempt to allow NGOs, non-profits, or other groups —you know, the same bunch who lost those more than 300,000 children who were brought over the borders by Joe Biden's cartel buddies and disappeared— to take the kids again without parental permission or notification. The bill also gives these strangers the ability to provide children with medical and dental care. Think abortions, sex change operations, STD checks, mental exams, and female circumcisions.

Now consider this item:

The Babylon Bee and Rumble are suing California over two laws that censor political satire during election season, including some images like memes that mock political candidates. A hearing in a Sacramento federal court was held Tuesday to determine whether the laws will be permanently blocked after a judge issued a temporary injunction. The final decision is expected in the coming weeks.

Imagine losing your children if you are regular viewers/readers of the aforementioned and of course this website and other websites deemed dangerous purveyors of dangerous content, etc. etc. etc. And whatever his chances are, Gavin Newsom seems to be, as of now, the leading contender to get the Democrat nomination for 2028. Of course any spoof or even criticism of him in any media might bring a giant hammer (and sickle) down on your head, and kiss your kids goodbye?

Orwellian? For sure. Hyperbole? Look back on all we've been through the past 10 years or so, if if not longer before you dismiss it.

It's long been seen that what happens in California sooner or later happens in the rest of the nation. And it seems that what happens in the UK sooner or later winds up over here:

Maybe California's statehood needs to be revoked and the region returned to territorial status, governed by a Trump-appointed territorial governor.

OFCOM, the UK’s Orwellian name for the Office of Communications, has decided to issue a reporting demanding that YouTube prioritize its propaganda content because of ‘democracy’ and ‘public service’ or something of that sort.

Even for the Starmer regime, which is racking up more speech arrest than Cuba, this is really something.

The regime believes that its programming is entitled to first row prioritization and that if people don’t choose to watch it, that’s because YouTube isn’t trying hard enough to make them.

For those of a certain age, like me, it brings to mind a line from the old comic Yakov Smirnoff, paraphrasing, In the Soviet Union we have two channels. Channel 1 is government Propaganda and Channel 2 is a KGB agent ordering you to switch back to Channel 1!"

It was not that long ago, gentle reader you will remember that Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants almost created an American Ministry of Truth, "Disinformation Governance Board" with that Skankowitz Jankowicz shitwhore as Reichminister für propaganda regulating what was to be believed and what was to be censored.

Thank the Lord for the dissolution of PBS and with it NPR.

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

19 This Ft Stewart shooting does NOT look good for the legacy Army.

Guy was in the Army for 6 years, reached the rank of Sergeant, shot at 5 people... and didn't kill any of them? Dude.

Even an Army psych did better than that, back before Biden.

(Yes, it's a weird angle, but it does go to training, IMO.)

22 Context is critical when discussing Truman. The decision was made long before the bomb was ready, before he even knew of the program. Deploy it as soon as it was ready.

He was agonizing over whether to green light an invasion, if his diary can be believed. The JCS was split - some favored a blockade and some continued napalm fire bombing. Nobody was one hundred percent sure the bomb would work. The planning for an invasion had to continue months in advance.

The war changed early on. Roosevelt in ‘39 asked that belligerents avoid bombing civilians. That didn’t last too long, did it? By the end of the war roasting 100s of thousands in a single night was deriguer. “Dehoused” as it was known.

_______
I have a fundamental problem with that argument. Not that DEI isn't just as bad as he says, but I'm tired of hearing "merit" held up as some standard. Frankly, anyone who looks at military history (or other history) should realize that we just aren't very good at recognizing it. Every attempt I've seen ends up as just more credentialism.

The JCS was split - some favored a blockade and some continued napalm fire bombing.

The problem with continued bombing was that we were running out of targets. The problem with a blockade was that the Navy took a dreadful mauling off Okinawa.

George MacDonald Fraser, no fan of the bomb, asked, if you don't drop the bomb, when does the war end? If the answer isn't August 15th, you have some explaining to do as to when and how many more people die after that date. For example, the buck-toothed sons of Nippon were ready to kill all 120,000 POWs.

Yes and no. DEI's primary beneficiaries have always been liberal women, particularly AWFLs. The blacks and Hispanics and whatnot are just human shields to make it sound better. So in that light there are no contradictions.

Now if that’s a good definition, that has nothing to do with tariffs…. Unless, I suppose, the imposition of tariffs reduces the amount of goods in circulation? This doesn’t seem likely because to take just one example: steel… a huge tariff on foreign steel doesn’t reduce the amount of steel to buy unless domestic producers can’t meet demand and importers refuse to accept foreign steel… IOW Jerome Powell is an imbecile

"We were greeted by a masked agent who refused to give us his name, who refused to show his face, and who proceeded to lock the door, keeping us, in essence, incarcerated, because we cannot go in or out until we get further notice.”

BREAKING: The Pentagon is urging Japan and Australia to clarify what role they would play if the U.S. and China went to war over Taiwan, the Financial Times reported on Saturday.

Trump orders Pacific allies to prepare for war with China
Story by Daniel Smith • July 15
The US has told its Pacific allies to gear up for a potential scrap with China over the contentious territory of Taiwan, amid warnings from Japan that the world is on the brink of a 'new crisis era' and Beijing's hefty investment in cutting-edge military hardware. [...]

However, revelations from the Financial Times suggest that while the superpower is prepped to continue shielding Taiwan, it anticipates that regional partners – notably Japan and Australia – should share the load in the unfortunate event of an outbreak of hostilities, reports the Mirror US.

It's pressing these nations to ramp up defense expenditures to ward off any aggressive moves by China.

166 >>Money laundering. Probably. The *biden crime family was active in Ukraine years before the desiccated husk was president. He, and his family were not the only ones laundering money there.

I think it goes a lot deeper than just money laundering. By now it should be obvious that the reason the war started was the Biden administration teasing NATO membership for Ukraine. But it didn't start with Biden, it started publicly at least at the NATO Summit in Bucharest in 2008 under Bush when he announced that NATO should consider NATO membership for Ukraine and Georgia.

Putin said at the time that was a red line for him and to prove his point he invaded Georgia. Then the coup in Ukraine under Obama/Biden and then Putin took Crimea.

Then 4 years of Trump and Russia and Ukraine hoaxes but peace. But as soon as Biden got in office it was back to NATO expansion and war.

NATO expansion into Ukraine and eastern Europe has been a bi-partisan foreign policy goal of the neocon deep state for years. There is something bigger at play.

The Department of Justice has identified four congressional districts in Texas as unconstitutional. These districts were flagged for unconstitutionally combining Black and Hispanic voters. The districts in question are:
9th District: Currently has no single racial majority.
18th District: Similar to the 9th, it lacks a majority.
29th District: Predominantly Hispanic but is now at risk of losing its majority status.
33rd District: Entirely redrawn but still does not have a majority racial group.

All of the BS about Texas is because Texas was ORDERED to redraw by the US 5th Court.

here's my little two cents

I think if the mRNA didn't do you in (via an almost immediate stroke or autoimmune attack) as an elderly person, you generally did ok. I don't think they protected, but for older folks with lesser immune systems, they were relatively harmless

but for younger people and kids especially, they were super damaging bc they triggered a very healthy immune system ... and didn't stop triggering it. the spike just kept getting produced. the shot didn't stay in your arm. now you have a systemic problem in healthy and young people. and still no protection from SARS II

so PDJT has a lot of old friends who like the shots still. his experience is colored by his own experience ("didn't hurt me, no big deal, and my at-risk friends either")

this situation is sneaky. it's hard to track. it's weird being in the "strange idiopathic autoimmune problem" bucket, for me, who spent a lot of time making fun of people who claimed things like that.

it's humbling.

Just saw a story about a foreigner who went to the UK and started drugging and raping men - over 50 victims before he was caught. One victim went to the police, and they arrested *him* before they figured out he was the freakin' victim.

This has been the UK for years now - harassing and silencing victims while the rapists and attackers roam free.

237 “Debanking” seems like something out of paranoid dystopian fiction, but this horrific abuse of government power is already all too real. We’re almost glad the Biden crew deployed it against then-former-President Donald Trump in 2021: That not only ensures he’s aware of this outrage; it points to how even the powerful are vulnerable. It’s as simple as it is scary: Government regulators give a quiet nod to financial institutions that certain people or industries are to be “unpersoned,” and pretty soon they get the same treatment as North Korean tyrants, terrorists or drug kingpins: locked out of the financial system.

The Biden-era AFFH rule was, in effect a “zoning tax,” which fueled an increase in the cost and a decrease in the supply of affordable housing due to restrictions on local land.

277 >>9% of SNAP sales went to soda.

Almost 1 dollar out of 10. No wonder certain corporations were heavily pimping "supports" (WalMart)

A few stories about food stamps I've read over the years. . .
One was about how recipients use them to barter. For example, you want a drink at a bar, and the bartender needs fresh lemons and limes, so they make an exchange (here's my card, go buy what you need from the little grocery store around the corner while I sip my drink here).

Another was when some crazy illegal alien crashed into a Boston Globe delivery truck, and out spilled 25+ EBT cards (each with a different name, none matching hers).

I bet we have no idea how these free food cards are actually being used, and what's behind the types of goods purchased with them. Let's continue to reduce what they can be spent on, where they are accepted (I mean, 7-11 and Taco Bell - srsly?), and ultimately, how many are out there. The program's current state is so far from its original purpose.

278 The LIV think being poor is something that just happens to people. They cannot conceive that poverty stems from people's choices.

Probably because a lot of them were born affluent and they think that's how it is for everyone. They imagine everything is an accident of birth. And its valid to a limited extent. The affluent tend to help each other out through networks and connections. The poor tend to tear each other down.

Well (if history is correct), no one at the time thought such a thing would be purchased by recipients. By the time it was obvious, various oxen refused to be gored (Coke, WalMart, etc.)
Later, the program became the defacto source for bodegas nationwide...

302 There are very few poor people in this country. With few exceptions (homeless), the “poor” have modern housing, heat, , running water, electricity, a smart phone, a car and enough food to be fat and happy.

A “poor” person in the US is in the top 20% of wealth worldwide.

Easy to point and laugh at dumb kids, but our political class' "Every kid goes to college!!" and promises to forgive loans, etc., and universities' greed (issuing BS degrees for $100's of thousands with promises of success) played a part, too.

312 The LIV think being poor is something that just happens to people. They cannot conceive that poverty stems from people's choices.

The argument for some sort of social net is indeed that "and things just happen to people sometimes" and...that is true some of the time - there are people that get in a rough state because of an accident, an illness, an economic downturn.

But there are a few practical problems here then with implementing such a net. Namely, anything you reward you get more of. So when you pay people to not work you'll get more people not working. And the money given to them comes from the working, and so when you penalize something, here working, you get less of it.

So in moving from where we are to somewhere better I would:

1) End direct cash transfers as part of aid - give people baskets of food instead of an EBT cards
2) Move government housing for the poor to areas with no/low skill employment to make it really easy to transition back to working
3) Require work to get aid. If you can't get a job in the private sector, you can spend 40hours/week picking up litter and removing graffiti.

315 I am slowly coming around to the view that foreign aid should only be for disasters. Instead, we end up feeding countries that should feed themselves but for terrible choices made by their political rulers.

321 Bernie Sanders posted a graph that "homes are now more unaffordable than ever."
Which showed the average price of homes and average _weekly_ wages.

So the dollar amount on the Y axis was from $0 to $500k; with homes steady approaching the top.
While the average weekly wages is flat at the bottom at near $0.

To put it another way, for your weekly wages to even show up on the chart, you'd have to make ... $5.2 million a year.
So f'ing dishonest.

Others noted that the BLS uses the price of housing in its calculation of inflation.
Which I'd never thought about but, it means that "inflation adjusted" home prices isn't an accurate comparison over time.
A true measure would be something like "price per foot" against average size against average 30-year cumulative income(s) of the average buyer(s); % income spent per foot.
I'll bet that's pretty flat.
