President Trump warned Tuesday that Washington, D.C., could face federal takeover if city leaders fail to address rising youth crime. Calling the capital "out of control," Trump said he would have "no choice" but to intervene unless the city starts prosecuting violent juveniles as adults. Key Details: In a Truth Social post Tuesday, Trump slammed DC's crime crisis, demanding minors as young as 14 be tried as adults and "locked up for a long time." The post included a graphic image of a man reportedly beaten by teens -- later identified as Edward Coristine, a former DOGE employee who intervened in an attempted assault and was attacked. DC has imposed curfews and other measures, but juvenile crime remains rampant, with the city's youth arrest rate nearly double the national average. Diving Deeper: President Trump on Tuesday renewed his call to bring Washington, D.C., under federal control, citing what he called an "out of control" crime wave being driven by violent juveniles. "Local 'youths' and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens," Trump posted on Truth Social, adding that these teens act with impunity because "they will be almost immediately released." Not to be blunt but you could make the same argument of just about every major city. I lived in Boston for years and crime in my neighborhood wasn't even a casual concern. We walked around at all times of the night and day and never had any issues.
There were other neighborhoods in the city where I wouldn't have been caught dead day or night. I bet you can guess the difference.

Your odds of surviving it go way up if you are willing to maim.
Once there's some screaming and some blood, attitudes change.

I don't think they were trying to lose, but several political commentators likened this trial to George Zimmerman's trial. Where the prosecution was acting like it was the job of the defense to prove that the defendant did NOT commit a crime.
IIRC, Obama had a bunch of people in town holding the prosecutor's feet to the fire. So, they had to make the best show they could. And that just so happened to be throwing the fundamental understanding of criminal law out the window.
They lost because the best case they had required that the jury not presume innocense.

She's a politician doing what politicians do.
Addressing the problem - going hard at the gangs, arresting them aggressively, denying bail, forcing them to serve time, etc. - would aggravate some of her (and her Party's) major constituencies (gangsters, academics, those on the "aid group" gravy train, etc.), but doing nothing will aggravate a different one (normal people).
So she squares the circle in typical political fashion by making an irrelevant new rule that does nothing to stop the problem but allows her to claim to have addressed it, then declaring victory.

Which is hilariously retarded.
They own two major streaming brands: Disney+ and Hulu. One of those brands is very strong and highly profitable. The other is a wallowing basket case.
The smart play would be to leave them separate despite costs to maintain differentiation and offer packaged billing for both. Less great is to merge them and keep the Hulu brand and most of its interface. The dumbass play is to merge them and pull it all under the D+ umbrella, especially given the sweetheart deal on D+ that Disney had to hand to the cable TV operators. Can't give discounted D+ and still upcharge for Hulu if they're the same product.
But D+ is Iger's baby.

1st...assemble the troops.
2nd...open the armory and sign out the weapons.
3rd...draw ammo from the ammo bunker/battery.
Part two and part three are located in seperate locations. The ammo bunker is not under the command of the troops being assembled. The armory is, but not the bunker/battery.
Much quicker to use the Base MPs or local Police.

Typically day-to-day on a military installation, the only ones armed are the military police. All arms are locked in the Arms Room and kept there unless needed for training.
The last thing they need is no different than any city or town...a shooter out there, and a bunch of people running around with loaded weapons, not knowing what is going on, but ready to shoot.
That said, I have long advocated that Officers and Senior NCOs should be allowed to carry a sidearm.

The only difference is the DC isn't in a state, so Trump has some direct control over it. The other cities are all in (mostly Democrat-controlled) states, so the Feds have little influence over state-controlled sentencing guidelines.
But the recent attacks in Cincinnati ad DC that received a lot of media attention are just the tippiest-tip of the iceberg. The amount of robbings, beatings, mob attacks, head-kicking, "knockout game," and race-based victimization that goes on every day in American big cities is utterly mind-boggling and unacceptable. Yet we've learned to just shrug and accept it.
