Paintings are a matter of taste and tastes vary.

That being said, attacking the cobbers for providing posts to keep the lights on is simply not on. I am actually amazed that this blog has soldiered on while most blogs from the age of blogs before Fakebook became popular are now long gone.

The reason is that cobbers and Ace have put in the effort over the years and thus this place has created deep roots.

From hickoryart.org: Frank Stanley Herring was born in Pennsylvania, and established himself as a painter in New York City after having studied art in Chicago...in the early 1920’s, Herring began teaching at the Grand School of Art in NYC in the winters while spending summers in North Carolina.

In 1946 Herring and his wife helped establish the Burnsville Painting Classes. Located in the old Mount Mitchell's Boys camp in Burnsville, N.C., the school grew to national recognition over a 20 year period, continuing until 1966 when Herring died.

Herring became known primarily for his water color portraits of blacks in the South.

He's clearly a hard-working family man, relaxing in his favorite plaice on the front stoop of his crappie New Orleans shotgun shack after a long day at the local fishmonger's, a job that he does just for the halibut. Besides salmon had to do it. His face reflects his satisfaction of a job well done, flinging filets. His sole is at peace. His wife is preparing a big pot of seafood gumbo. He flounder hard at work in the kitchen when he got home. He doesn't notice that the neighbor kids are teasing him about the fish smell, because he is actually a bit hard of herring.

Probably more about the whole job market being...distorted over the past 4 years with the massive, unfettered influx of an illegal job force.

There's going to be a lot of weirdness in numbers as a sorting happens, assuming the numbers are accurate and have been accurate, which is another concern.

2 million foreign born people just leaving the nation in 6 months, about 2/3 of whom are illegal (with only 300,000 or so actually deported by DHS) is going to have an effect.

She had the opportunity to visit a centuries old leather workshop where she purchased me a gift of a leather bound folder ( I call it a tablet holder) with my initials on it .

Its 30 years old now and still in great shape after years of use.

Nope.

1) As we've seen, the laws have changed. Out-of-state room and board in furtherance of denying quorum is not a campaign expense and anyone paying it for them is now making a bribe.
2) TX does not pay its house members much. It's $7200 a year. All of them have to have regular jobs (or retirement). Either they own the business or are excused for ledg session. Basically, that money covers their apartment in Austin they rent for the session.

They have no extra money to fund this vacation. And Chicago and NY are not cheap places to stay in hotels.
They're broke are forced to come crawling back.
Principles are easy when someone else is paying.

I wish it was possible to find some of Lenore Cady watercolors. She combined watercolor painting with beautiful calligraphy. Her last word was a patriotic piece. Red, white, and blue with the calligraphy words "freedom the most expensive treasure" written across it. She did some wonderful paintings of old Victorian houses in northern California. Alas, all of her paintings were sold or given to family and friends. I don't think there are many photos of her work.
