Who's A Good Boy??

Hero Service Dog Senses Owner’s Irregular Heartbeat –Saving the Veteran From a Catastrophic Stroke

doof-Service-dog-Tommy.jpg

The Labrador usually lets Hank sleep late—but not on this particular day. Something was wrong. Very wrong.

The service dog named Tommy had been with Hank Ford since he was a pup, and he knew his owner was at risk. He started nudging Hank with his nose, then pawing at him, and jumping on his body.

Get up. Get up. Get up.

Hank figured the dog needed to go outside a little earlier than normal. But when Hank stood up, he was light-headed and woozy, starting to sense that something was wrong too. He opened the door to let the dog outside, but Tommy didn’t budge.

54-year-old Hank kept feeling worse. He decided to check his vital signs with a blood pressure cuff and was startled by the results.

His pulse was a staggering 171 beats per minute.

The military veteran who had served for more than 20 years, called his local veterans hospital, but they thought his vital readings were obviously wrong, that he simply misused the machine.

Hank and Tommy both knew better, so the resident of Fort Lufton, Colorado, drove himself to the hospital, and the diagnosis arrived a few minutes later.

“They were freaking out about it,” Hank recalled, when doctors confirmed his vital signs. “It was good that Tommy woke me up.

Read the whole thing. He deserves all the treats and scritches!

Do we have morons in Argentina?

Google Forced to Pay Man After Showing Him Naked on Street View

An Argentinian man recently won a legal battle against tech giant Google after being photographed naked in his own yard and then posted on Google Street View for everyone to see.
Although the lawsuit filed by the unnamed man only recently ended, the incident goes back to 2017, when a Google Street View car passed through Bragado, a small Argentinian town about 200 kilometers from Buenos Aires, right when a local man was out completely naked on his property. The photos taken by the car’s advanced camera system caught him from behind, showing his derriere in all its glory, and even though the man’s face wasn’t visible, the very clear street address in the captures made him the laughing stock of the town. Sick of putting up with the mockery, the man took Google to court for violating his privacy.

Fess up - which one of you is this?

It's that time of the week - when we turn the ONT over to our good friend Piper for a bit. Here's this week's fashion pr0n.

------

This week’s outrage over a jeans ad is nothing new—denim brands have long courted controversy with provocative campaigns. From sexual innuendos to social commentary, these ads have sparked debates and shaped fashion history. Here’s a look at some of the most infamous jeans campaigns.

In 1971, Italian brand Jesus Jeans shocked with bold imagery, followed by a 1973 ad featuring a woman’s backside in denim hot pants with the slogan “He who loves me follows me.” Photographed by Oliviero Toscani, the campaign’s religious undertones and provocative visuals led to bans in the UK and Ireland for blasphemy and sexualization.

IMG_4772r.jpg

IMG_4774r.jpg

Calvin Klein’s 1980 campaign, shot by Richard Avedon, featured 15-year-old Brooke Shields with the tagline: “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” The suggestive ad sparked accusations of exploiting a minor, with bans in several countries and U.S. networks pulling it. Despite the backlash, it skyrocketed sales and solidified Calvin Klein’s provocative legacy.

IMG_4775r.jpg

Diesel’s 1991 “For Successful Living” campaign, led by Jocke Jonason, tackled politics, sexuality, and race with irreverence. One ad featuring a man pointing a gun triggered protests outside stores.

IMG_4776r.jpg

IMG_4777r.jpg

Calvin Klein’s 1992 campaign with Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg stirred controversy for its raw sexuality and Moss’s “heroin chic” look, criticized for promoting unhealthy body image. The backlash contributed to Moss’s mental breakdown.

IMG_4778r.jpg

Don’t let the exciting return of baggy jeans to the fashion spotlight be overshadowed by the controversy. We can discuss how to style them in the comments or a later edition of ‘ette Couture.

------

Thank you, Piper - although "exciting" is not the word I'd use with respect to baggy jeans, if you're talking about ladies. Please, for the love of all things attractive, bring back hip hugging, low-waisted jeans for women! Such as early 2000's Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson. (Speaking on behalf of hetero dudes everywhere)

Weather over the past couple days shows how things can shift on a dime. We went from a record streak of 90F+ days, setting and tying a few record daily highs and highest lows to now the other way.

A system up north threw some cooler air down here, and the Appalachians cause a pretty good cold air damming effect. My high today was just 72F, and it's currently 65F.

Now, on 7/31 Asheville Airport tied the highest low at 71F. By 8/2, it set the lowest high, also at 71F. For today, it looks like KAVL is going to set the lowest high for 8/3 at 65F, which will break the daily record pretty good.

61 I knew a jeans model back around 1985. For about 18 months her derriere was plastered in the subway, on bus shelters and billboards all over NYC and I'm sure nationally. I did a lot of renovation work for her Dad, who was a big real estate developer/landlord in Manhattan. I did some work in her apartment, too. She was very pretty, tall, kinda like Brooke Shields. Her father disapproved of some of her cool friends in the business. Nose candy was involved.

65 As a certified hetero male I am going to put in my two cents in favor of baggy jeans. Yes, in theory they seem like they would be counterproductive for attractiveness. However, having seen them in action I find that they pair very well with slimming tops. The jeans are so baggy that the mind separates them from the body shape, unlike tighter clothes, and the psychological effect of accentuating the thinness of the upper body is almost startling.

86 Hello, Horde! 😊💕

Last night we went to the Weird Al Yankovich concert - with special guest Puddles Pity Party. OMG, that was the BEST, most fun concert I have ever been to! If you haven't seen him in concert, I HIGHLY recommend that you take the opportunity the next time he comes to a town near you - you won't regret it!

People came dressed in all types of wacky outfits, and the audience just had the best time. It was So. Much. Fun!!! 😊❤️🎊🥳

180 Past 10:00 here and soon time for bed. Another day of piano teaching tomorrow, and the start of what I'm afraid is going to be a tough month.

I'm saying goodbye to a lot of my students in August, as I head into semi-retirement.

One tomorrow -- he's got camp this week and a family vacation the week after that; his sister will finish a week from tomorrow; and then 15 more students the week after that.

I was in tears in early June after the announcement was made that I'm cutting back in September. I'm afraid I'm going to be a huge puddle when that last week (of August 21) comes with all those goodbyes.

I made the choice to refer most of my students to other teachers, so I have time to babysit two of my precious grandbabies, but goodbyes are still hard for me.

If anyone is inclined to pray about it, I surely would be grateful.

Thanks, Horde, and good night. Be blessed.

There was a momma feral cat who would have a litter, then her milk would dry up and she would abandon them. The neighbor ladies would save the kittens if they found them. Eventually they caught her and fixed her.

Two of my cats, now about 15 years old, were kittens she had to abandon. I think a couple others I had who have since died or wandered off years ago when they got to adulthood.

I know all the words but I don't understand the theory, but it seems that there is a couple of mantel plumes getting sporty, and changing the magnetic field of the earth, while the magnetic poles are starting to shift. A few people are claiming that there is an indication of a pole shift, and then start discussing the paleo-astrological significance of Gobekle Tepe with a discussion of a possible physical pole shift.

Which is fun to read, but somewhat rich on supposition and WAGs.

This one is building on the Dzhanibekov Effect, spinning objects tend to flip if there is nothing to prevent it. One of the arguments is that the Earth's magnetic field keeps it linked to the Sun's magnetic field and that keeps it in line, but if the pole were to shift, the Earth would flip as well.
The argument that depends on Gobekle Tepe is that it is a record of that happening - and building on this, there were other cutures that were wiped out at the same time, around the Younger Dryas.
Facts about this are fairly thin, though some Early Kingdom evidence, and some of the things Graham Hancock point out are interesting enough to pay attention to.

Also, of course he is crazy, but he might be right, too.

247 The argument that depends on Gobekle Tepe is that it is a record of that happening - and building on this, there were other cutures that were wiped out at the same time, around the Younger Dryas.
Facts about this are fairly thin, though some Early Kingdom evidence, and some of the things Graham Hancock point out are interesting enough to pay attention to.

Also, of course he is crazy, but he might be right, too.

Rewild Wall Street — replace traders with goats
Enforce collective housing based on astrological compatibility
Mandate 15% LGBTQ+ children in every classroom
Any child assigned a name at birth without consent must be renamed ‘Comrade.’
Eat the rich. Literally.
Ban individualism: no more “my space,” “my truth,” or “my coffee.”
Criminalize ownership — if you own it, you stole it from the collective
Naysayers warn his platform will destroy the city. Supporters say that's the point. He’s not here to fix New York. He’s here to unmake it. If you own a home or a business, you’re the problem.

Two of my pups and some cousins went with me to try to break in to Gush Katif to resist. Got arrested and stayed in buses for half a day until a well known legal organization, Honenu, set attorneys to the prison, and had us released and our records expunged. Honenu's website:

My mistake. Those post cards were distributed before the Oslo Accords were signed in the early 90's. By 2005 and Gush Katif, we predicted everything that's happening today.

323 That's pretty interesting that "Jesus jeans" faced a backlash in Ireland and the U.K for sexualization and blasphemy for the tacky jeans ads in 1971. Now they have so many Muslims there would be a collective yawn. Thanks for the jean retrospective . I haven't really been following the Sydney Sweeney stuff closely because I don't want to hear yammering from leftist women in videos. I think however , it had less to do with the sexuality , she's an adult , an actress and a model. What a surprise!! /sarc. It had more to do with the ( ridiculous) supposed Nazi stuff and eugenics.
I am glad I do not recall"Jesus jeans", however and thank you for the Jean ad retrospective , Piper .

325 And I really don't want to think of Jesus endorsing products. It's too late for me to look up this company and if it was a mock or the designers were people of faith.

327 Hi Fen

I try not to overthink it. It's just the Internet being provocative because it can. A lot of people have no idea about Jesus. His Divinity is rejected and mocked. Nothing new about that. You just pray for salvation and realize the current culture is red hot garbage.

Also, what are you doing up? Go to bed! 🙃

Democrats must decide whether we will offer a transformative vision or whether we will be consumed by revenge & dripping hatred for MAGA. I choose a new economic patriotism. A fresh vision that will provide economic hope to places & people abandoned & a new national mission.

You treated Americans like illegals during the pandemic, while you treat illegals like Americans.

Democrats have everything backwards from castrating children to embracing communism. You are never going to be anything but the Party of Misery and Americans are sick of you

Good morning . Puddleglum Sometimes I just wake up at odd times- boom -and don't want to disturb FenSpouse so I come downstairs .He'll be down soon anyway. He so used to getting up early for the bus run that he gets up early even in the summer. I appreciate your concern for me.

333 It would be interesting - for me anyway- to know about James Woods' background. Was he raised in a conservative background or he had a political conversion at some point? I admire the fact that he. Continues to speak out boldly when his views have obviously had an impact on his career.

How come a group of folks who declared war on another group expects the people they attacked to feed them? Where or when else has this ever happened?

Return the hostages, deport your own asses to the rest of the arab-sphere, quit declaring death to the Jews, and maybe we send you some slim-jims. Otherwise, how 'bout you fuck right off?
