  • UK premium luggage service Airportr, which provided door-to-door service and worked with ten European airlines, was not hacked, exactly. (Wired) (archive site)

Because it had no security at all. Anyone could look up anyone's personal information, or even log in as an administrator and redirect their luggage.
The vulnerabilities resulted in complete confidential private information exposure of all airline customers in all countries who used the service of this company, including full control over all the bookings and baggage. Because once you are the super-admin of their most sensitive systems, you have have the ability to do anything.
It was found by security analysts before anyone took advantage of it. The CEO of security group Cyber9X is quoted above.

She said " They were playing all those old songs " ( No; she and I did not graduate from college in 1971) she made me laugh when she said " I didn't listen to them back then either .". She snd I were cranking out LPs of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart .

46 Behind the name:
According to the band’s official website, the name Three Dog Night comes from a phrase often used by Aboriginal Australian hunters as a barometer for how cold a night in the Outback would be.

The hunters would dig a hole in the ground and then use dingos to keep warm. If it was cold they’d sleep with two dogs. If it was freezing it would be a “three-dog night.” They wanted to include the number three somewhere in their moniker as a representation of the idea that there are three lead singers.

As any school child can tell you.

Question for the intelligent people here. I want to get some WiFi signal down to the kennel, a metal building about 100 feet away from the house, so we can run our cameras there without waiting a long time for a connection to get established. Would an ordinary WiFi extender work or do I need to set up some point-to-point? Running an ethernet line down there is out of the question.

80 Most misheard lyrics?

Manfred Mann's Earth Band‘s “Blinded By The Light”.

It is:
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light

Not:
Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light

I blame the singer or sound engineer, because it does sound like he’s singing that.

And most people don’t know what a deuce is when it comes to cars,1932 Ford).

3DN's Greatest Hits was my youth well into high school. Still listened to them in college when there were much heavier alternatives in my collection that got 'airplay'. When people skimmed through my collection seeing names like King Crimson, Humbe Pie and they'd hit upon a 3DN album, they'd give me a look. I just liked 'em. I was 12 when they first hit the airwaves. Like I said, a group who made songs of my youth and whose songs were everywhere. Lyrics? I may not remember now until you put the song on. 96 And all new vehicles are roughly 40pct more expensive than they were 5 years ago.

I don't expect the prices to budge an inch.
Posted by: Thomas Bender at August 02, 2025 07:08 AM (XV/Pl)

It’s like the prices jumped in 2021 because “supply chain” and never went down again when the supply chain became oversupplied.

Oil/Gas is the same.
Something causes the price to go up and the change the price at the gas stations the next day.

But when the price goes down it takes months to go through the system.

98 SpeakingOf,

When I first heard 'Masachusetts' by The Bee Gees, this rocker was impressed. Their disco was a part of everybody's life in the late '70s, a cultural phenomenom thanks to movies. But I wasn't a fan of that music. By then I was into rock/blues and the two don't really mix.

Pretty much the same here. Though I think I was two or three years older when they landed. I was a month shy of nine when one day my older sister by 4 years was running around the house yelling "The Beatles are going to be on Ed Sullivan."

Me - What's a beetle? I found out. The next 4 years, if I wasn't fishing or playing baseball, my red, Sears transistor was glued to my ear.

105 We had a bit about this yesterday. If Kamala Harris disses on Biden's cognitive dysfunction. apparently Biden's aides will go "Palinesque" on her. Sarah Palin got savaged by the leftist press. Of course, as we all know, she never said " I can see Russia from my house" ( That was from an SNL skit.) and the left seriously believed that the Governor of Alaska didn't know that Africa was a continent and not just one country?! Yep, the left is all about affirming women as long as they're fake transgender " women" or not Republicans.

I guess I’m no longer bothered by genre love.

If it’s got a good beat and you can dance to it, I’ll give it a listen.

Other than a few songs by KC and the Sunshine Band, I’m not into disco either, but it certainly was a unique time in music.

Even the late 70s 007 movies (Roger Moore) had some disco funk in the background music in those days.

Led Zeppelin had some disco-ish sounds on a few songs from “In Through The Out Door”.

Thanks mom!!!
Couldn't afford private lessons so never had the "uzi" stick work of a Carl Palmer but later in life, after 15 years of not playing at all, I got a drum set. Ended up doing 15+ years total on "stage."

In college, went to see The Band at UVa. Drove a couple a hundred miles with a double date. We were the only ones dancing in the aisles to their music. ZThe drummer, Levon Helm, saw us, pointed a stick at us and smiled. Then back to drumming, swatching us a lot. Just havin' a good ol' time. Every music has a beat and sometimes you can dance to it.

I like Earth, Wind and Fire and 'black' bands like that. They made music. Damn good music.

Musically speaking, the mid '60s to the early '80s truly was a great time to be alive.

127 And anyway , I like this story about wiseacre Issac Watts:

As a young man, Watts had complained about the dismal singing in the churches. His father told him that if he was dissatisfied, “write something better.” Watts believed that the Psalms should be more singable than people were accustomed to and that Jesus Christ should be more strongly reflected in the Psalter terminology. With a natural skill at rhyming, (for which he had been rebuked as a child) and a profound sense of the necessity of praise, prayer, thanksgiving, and theological expression, he produced a psalter, well-received by most churches.

In 1707 he published Hymns and Spiritual Songs, which included the all-time favorite, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. He rewrote the Psalter in Psalms of David Imitated in the language of the New Testament, with Psalm 78 becoming Joy to the World, Psalm 72, Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun, and Psalm 90, Our God Our Help in Ages Past.

130 I agree, TeeJ.

The fragmentation once Top 40 went away really sucked. Radio had Louis Armstrong, The Beatles, The Stones, Diana Ross and the Supremes, et. al. in that vein. On the same 3 Top 40 am stations. So the car, stores, everywhere. A common culture, if you will. We all knew each other's music. Blacks knew white music, whites knew black music. Hardly anybody knew jazz. That's the way it went. Still not a heavy jazz fan though I do have some favorites. Defitnitely not danceable.

He was following the British New Wave at that point.

Can’t forget the Brits.
They had real talent at taking American sound and turning it into pop gold from The Beatles onwards.

The New Wave just relied on synthesizers instead of blues guitars.
