7924756391496734644.PNG

[H/T to a Moron]

Good morning boys and girls and everything in between. Before we enter the Prayer Revival just a few housekeeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in Mishicot)

1. This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate.
2. Be Kind, Be Nice. Trolls need admonition.
3. No. You may not run with sharp objects here. Go to Slate or something like tha.
4. Have a great weekend!

*****

When Weasel isn't thinking about, tinkering or shooting guns he thinks about you Saturday morning Morons. Thanks Weasel for the following educational film.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

5/29 – Teresa in Fort Worth sent an update and her thanks for all the prayers and words of encouragement. They have sustained her and her family as she continues to battle cancer. She continues to receive good news: her oncologist is quite pleased with her response to the current medication protocol; they are decreasing the lab work frequency to every other week instead of weekly; the side effects from chemo have been barely noticeable; she can just take 4 tiny pills for chemo instead of spending one day a week at the cancer center. It’s been 7 months so far, and she expects that at some point the tumors will start growing again, but for now, they are encouraged.
6/6 Update – Teresa has a side effect from the chemo – her fingernails and toenails are starting to loosen and “lift” off their nail beds. It is painful, and also carries a risk of infection.
7/9 Update – Teresa in Fort Worth sent an update – all is well for her for now. She will have more lab work done on 7/15, and then a CT scan on 7/28 to see if the tumors have shrunk any more. She is still losing hair, and her fingernails and toenails are still being “wonky”. She is not nauseous, so she is happy with her current situation.

6/11 – Legally Sufficient asks the Horde’s prayers for her friend, Bubba, who was in a bad auto wreck on 6/8. Prayers for comfort, healing, and strength are needed for Bubba and his family. He is in ICU and will be there for a couple more weeks. Thank you!
7/15 Update - Legally Sufficient asks for continued prayers for healing, strength and comfort for her friend Bubba. God is great! Bubba continues slow and steady improvement following his horrific vehicle accident. She received a photo of him visiting a job site this week and she said she doesn’t mind telling you that it suddenly got dusty here. Bubba was not able to stay very long before the heat and humidity took a toll and he was forced to retreat to air conditioning. Bubba is still under doctor’s orders to not drive, but has an able and willing chauffeur (his wife) who takes him where he wants to go. The prayers are working, please keep them coming for a little while longer!

6/28 – Dave R requested prayers for healing, strength, recovery, and curing, as he was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He is 62 and a long-time AoSHQ reader.
7/5 Update – Chemo starts on 7/7.

6/28 – H asked for prayers for a mom of two elementary aged boys who lost her mother 3 weeks ago, and her husband on 6/28, both to cancer.
7/19 Update – The visitation was good, but prayers are still appreciated, especially for the boys, as they go through a hard stage of life without their dad.

7/3 – Ciampino’s daughter posted to let us know that Ciampino is back in the hospital. He is dehydrated again. His kidney cyst is back and bigger, so he will need to have another surgery, but they don’t know when.
7/7 Update – Ciampino passed away. His daughter posted how much he loved everyone’s witty humor on the site, and sent her thanks for giving him years of enjoyment and community.
7/19 Update – Please contact Annie’s Stew for more information if you would like to contribute to Ciampino’s cremation fund raiser.

7/5 – Boswell asks for prayers for his best friend Mark’s mother. She is 90 years old and was diagnosed with sepsis after her colon burst. She had surgery on 7/3, but her recovery is not going well. She is too weak for the tests she needs to find out what is wrong. Please pray that she recovers fully, as she and Mark are very close. He is devastated.
7/16 Update – Mark’s mother passed away peacefully in her sleep. Mark is, of course, quite saddened by this, but at least she did not suffer at the end, and her family was by her side when she went. Boswell hopes that his friend finds solace that she lived a long, happy life and she raised such a wonderful son.

7/9 - Teresa in Fort Worth asks for prayers for her niece Amanda, and her husband Barkley. They are at Vanderbilt Hospital, where Amanda seems to be rejecting her second heart transplant. She is only 40 years old, and has been having heart issues for 20 years. She had her first heart transplant 4 years ago, and things are not looking good.

7/11 – Racially Ambiguous Honky, the brother of G’rump/toby928, sent his thanks for the prayers on his behalf, after his appendix burst and he had sepsis. He says he is recovering well.

7/11 – JR requested prayers for the families of those killed in Gaza.

7/11 – Stateless sent his thanks to all for their thoughts and prayers for him. His house officially became his on 6/30, ending 6 months of uncertainty since his Mom passed. He is getting stronger and is learning about and working to process emotions differently, after losing so much.

7/11 – Screaming in digital asked for prayers for her mother. Mom is still recovering from a UTI plus 3 falls within the last couple of days. During the day, there is some improvement. But once she starts sundowning, she is terrified and clings to whatever she can hold onto. She only weighs about 105-110, and isn’t eating much, but it is hard to move her when she is like that. If she doesn’t improve her mobility and cooperate/help with transfers to and from the wheelchair, etc., and consistently feed herself, she won’t be able to stay at the assisted living facility.
7/19 Update – Screaming in digital’s mother passed away.

7/11 – Frankie asked for prayers for her friend “R”, who is back on hospice for Huntington’s disease. He was on hospice before, but went off for an experimental medication, but unfortunately it wasn’t helpful.

7/11 – Igotnothing sent a prayer of praise. A grand-nephew, quadriplegic since birth due to deformities, and now age 10, after many surgeries and care and prayers, is able to walk. The boy and his family (mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-aunt and great-uncle) went on his first ever walk in the woods. What joy!

7/11 – Matthew Kant Cipher requested prayers for Layne, a family friend who is also his son’s FIL. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer and is awaiting further test results to determine whether they treat with chemo or remove his bladder. As of now, it appears to be contained. Please pray that he and his family are blessed with God’s love and grace through this time of trial.

7/18 – Tecumseh Tea had a heart attack and needs prayers.
7/23 Update – Tecumseh Tea had a Type 2 heart attack, which is considered mild. She sends prayers of thanks for that! The angiogram showed a healthy heart, with little plaque and clean arteries, so no stent was needed. They did find a myocardial bridge, which is a congenital defect. The goal is to keep BP 140/70 with a pulse of less than 60, but so far they have not been able to meet that goal. She can’t get a cardiologist appointment until 8/22, so the GP is helping, but so far they have not been able to get the right BP meds. Please pray for a sooner visit, and the right meds that work for her, and answers.

7/19 – Huerfano asked for prayers for a rapid and full recovery for brother R, who had hernia surgery. He cannot see his grandsons until he has recovered. He misses them , and they miss him.

7/19 – Farmer Bob posted an update. He is doing well. He is competing in 5Ks and triathalons, and sends his thanks for the prayers. His ex-wife has “gone off the deep end” (or just remains so), with weird lies and accusations. She could use a prayer or two.

7/19 – Tonypete asked for prayers for Cheri and Gretchen, church ladies of his acquaintance. Cheri had a medical incident while driving and veered off the road and struck a number of pedestrians, sending 3 or 4 to the hospital. Gretchen and her husband were passengers in the car and her husband had a heart attack after the accident and died. Cheri is just sick about it and has kind of snapped. Gretchen has lost her best friend of 65 years.

7/19 – H asked for prayers for Brandon, a homeless man in San Marcos, TX, who has a broken ankle and has to seek care for that injury, specifically prayers that he would see God providing for him. He is asking for God to help him advocate for his care.

7/23 – D sent an update on his wife Susan, as they deal with cancer. The last few weeks have been a roller coaster. They cannot operate on the cancer, because it has spread too much. They have started chemo and hope to get it to shrink. Susan’s gallbladder is inflamed, but they cannot remove it, due to the chemo, and her blood sugar is having issues. Thanks to everyone for their prayers; Susan has pulled through all of this and is looking great as they keep praying to the Lord.

7/26 – Stateless asked for prayers for his neighbors. The nice lady across the street lost her husband of 30 years about 3 months ago. And a different neighbor lost his beloved wife of 34 years in July.

7/26 – Fenelon Spoke requested prayers for J, a dear lady who attends her church. J has been going downhill since she had a heart procedure several months ago and now cannot speak. She may have dementia and is living in an assisted living facility.

7/26 – Coelacanth sent his thanks for prayers for his son. He has come a _very_ long way but could still use more prayers as he deals with vax and black mold injuries. Also, Coelacanth cut his left hand pretty badly and severed two tendons. He will be on light duty at work for 6+ weeks. Prayers are appreciated.

7/26 - Brother Tim was discharged from the cancer rehab facility and has returned to his routine of living out of hotel rooms, while working on better housing prospects. He is praising God for all the blessings and mercies!
7/30 Update – Brother Tim found out that the cancerous mass impinged on a blood vessel. He needs a full body scan to make sure it has not spread. He is relieved that he only needs radiation and not chemo to make sure the original cancer stays gone. He’s also out of PTO. He said that sometimes it feels like 2025 will be the death of him – possibly literally.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Prayers for everyone in the list above and all the other Morons and Moron-adjacent folks who need God's love, strength, courage, healing, and protection.

Thanks for the advice. That helps. I do have at least one promising lead that may help me get out of my current situation. I'm pursuing that first. Fortunately, my industry is in fairly high demand and remote work is plentiful. I can also fall back on technical writing contracts, though I've never done one of those.

A good friend diagnosed with glioblastoma last fall was expected to live until March. Survivability of this type of cancer is virtually nil.

Yesterday we learned that after choosing not to go to advanced experimental therapies and using minimal meds for the past couple of months his tumor has stopped growing and he will begin therapy for recovery of lost abilities.

God is good.

His doctor told him it looks good and he should be back to pretty normal in a month or so. My nephew had back surgery to mitigate sciatic pain from a car accident last summer. He's doing well, also. I pray that it works, he's only 36 years old and has a lot of life and work ahead.

60 Colorado Gray Wolf Update

Colorado Parks & wildlife seeks to euthanize, nay, summarily execute one specific member of the now notorious Copper Creek Wolf pack gang. Following an investigation into the mauling of a calf 10 days ago and a kangaroo court trial of the wolf in absentia death squads of CPW assassins are "out in the field" seeking the miscreant wolf.

https://is.gd/hMiEk1

The stated reason for the execution is to be an object lesson for the other members of the pack gang

CPW official said this action "..."is intended to change pack behavior by discouraging continued targeting of livestock as a prey base..."

62 @46/"Perfessor" Squirrel: "... I do have at least one promising lead that may help me get out of my current situation. I'm pursuing that first. Fortunately, my industry is in fairly high demand and remote work is plentiful. I can also fall back on technical writing contracts, though I've never done one of those."

Sounds like you're actually in pretty good shape. Start pursuing that lead (and others) like you've already lost your job because these things take way more time now to percolate than they should.

Even if things work out, you might get a better offer and be able to tell your boss who seems to want you gone, "I'm giving my two weeks notice."

When your boss asks why, just say you found an exciting opportunity that you think will further your career and build you up as a person. Yes, it's carefully constructed Corpo-speak, but think about how they word layoff notices and the reasons they give you if you demand, "Why?" Corpo-speak is exactly what they deserve, so give it to them.

Take the high road if doing an exit interview. Don't let them fill your file with "He was really negative about us on the way out." Don't hand them any ammunition to shoot you with.

77 Good, we've had some happy updates too now.

My late Mother had a ton of large plastic plants in the house. Very nice, but I dusted them 14 years, the house is finally mine - Thank You God! - and I am putting them outside.

There's a nice chest of drawers I simply don't have room for and don't want in the basement, even though there's plenty of room. There's some older chairs, recycling boxes nice unopened scented candles and a few other knick knacks.

I'm just giving things away. I just want all this out of the house and it's nice stuff someone will probably want.

I paid my friends' kids to make me signs "Free! Please Take It All! Free!" And they are going to set up a little stand and sell Freezies and water. The driveway will look like a small forest. They usually do well selling stuff.

It should be a nice day. I'm very blessed.

117 83. I'm now in the countdown to hip surgery on 8/20.
Posted by: Sharon(willow's apprentice)

I found a huge help was to flip an inexpensive metal cane upside down & use the hook part beneath the arch of foot of the operated hip to move the entire leg on and off a bed, ottoman, etc.

Most helpful post surgery: raised toilet seats if those available you aren't ADA compliant; handheld shower nozzle on an existing shower head; portable shower chairs.
Long-handled shoe horns if not wearing slip-ons, refreezable ice packs, dry shampoo.

Arrangements with your pharmacy to deliver prescriptions for a few weeks after your surgery. A quick grocery delivery source for some weeks. (A lot of hip replacements don't drive for about 6 weeks.)

My PT began at home & after a month, it went over to outside PT at a convenient location. Immediately after surgery, OT taught me how to get up and down stairways & anticipate other mobility issues.

Pre-surgery: Make sure you provide your correct height - stand straight on each leg & then both for measurement accuracy - if getting a full hip replacement!

You'll be OK. 🙏

I'd let it go for a while, figuring the bureaucracy would handle it, but in January I resolved to sort it out. Multiple letters, applications and a few hours on the phone later, it arrived at long last.

I was so happy I danced around the house. My wife thought I was going crazy, but this opens up a lot of doors that have been stubbornly shut, and I was also worried that some vindictively lowlife might have tampered with it. It is funny how much effort is being expended to make the WNBA become a thing, when it is one of the worst female sports out there.

Tennis, golf, and of course figure skating and gymnastics are areas where women can compete and watching it is compelling, but on the hardwood all one can do is think about how lame it looks.

Women's tennis is cool because without the power of men (especially with metal rackets), you get more volleys.

She is 44 and has spent her life making terrible decisions. I gather her circumstances are not good and we got a call from some agency suggesting an unspecified legal action is about to take place.

She's a complete stranger to me and hates my guts, but I don't bear her any malice and hope things are not as bad as we fear.

That sucks. My eldest was like that a year ago, but has slowly been healing and returning to her old self. Last night we were organizing school uniforms together, and while things are far from ideal, they are improving. I'm going to the range today and she's asked to come along, so that will be nice.

It's hard to know what to do other than be patient and trust in God. After a while, I just stopped trying to make things happen and it seems to be working. Maybe the legal action will open an unforeseen door.

I am so sorry, I have a daughter, 37, who has had a similar history BUT we never broke contact, and thanks to God and some miraculous works, she’s beginning a psychological turnaround. (Yes she’s had Agency troubles as well). The issues have always been psychological.
Perhaps you have already done this - but try working to talk to the 16 and 22 year olds, maybe there can be some bond there. Through all our troubles, my 13 year old grandson has become my best friend in the world. (Ok maybe because we have a common enemy, but it works for us!)

Lived (rental) in a neighborhood of Korea Vet G.I. homes the corner lady offered to finance her house for $5k down. It was reasonable.

🙏 but urban taxes are becoming untenable.

Our (PA) county's budget went up 23% this year & its budgeting document went from 30 plus pages to more than 300.

Our Township's school taxes went up substantially in the past year. A huge population of kids are in special ed, ESL; the others read poorly and can't do math - all for more than $20,000 a kid per year.

The Township's annual taxes remained the same but sewer and trash costs rose again.

No one wants to explain what happened to C19 and opioid settlement funding but non-profits are flourishing.

In the meantime in the county (less affluent side), stories like this: UPPER DARBY, Pa. (WPVI) -- Gloria Gaynor, 91, has spent her life building the American Dream. Now, because of just $3,500 in overdue taxes, she is losing it all. Gaynor, who has dementia, is confined to a hospital bed in the living room of the Upper Darby home she owned for nearly 25 years. Having been involved in some of those situations tangentially, I’ve learned by experience that whenever any Agency gets a chance to sink their hooks into anything, even for a silly reason, they go All In. It’s what they do.

I’ve seen a wellness check, called in by a concerned but friendly neighbor, turned into 6 months of intense supervision along with weekly mandatory in person progress reports. With no appeal allowed. Once they get ahold of someone, they take control of their lives.

People of a certain age are spoiled in that regard. If you grew up watching Charlie's Angels, Sweeney looks like she could qualify for a guest-star spot as a waitress, but hardly a leading role.

But for years, even theoretically attractive actresses like Brie Larson have been frowny girlbosses so the fact that Sweeney actually smiles with some warmth makes here stand out like Erin Gray in a bikini circa 1982.

Yes, the Republican "War Board" wasn't perfect but they had a reasonable, long term plan to provide medicare/medicaid services in conjunction with Johns Hopkins, and without the adoption of the current, "policy setting," 85 person County Board of Health.

All of the public school districts were decent overall, meeting goals, getting kids into AP courses and/or higher education, job training regardless.

Now half the county doesn't care as it can ride it out through wealth &/or property investments and buffer strips of lovely parks. Another quarter doesn't care - never did - but are still on the receiving side at this time.

Unfortunately, another quarter are or will be under gentrification. They're boxed in with few options and no one is coming to 'help' the majority, other than possible receivership of their care and property.

"It says something about just how retarded this timeline has become that having a hot chick sell clothing has become a revolutionary act, but here we are.  At least we can comfort ourselves that we're not the ones getting the vapors and needing counseling simply because a babe looks good in denim.

Make no mistake about it: this is not a sign of strength on the part of the wokes.  If anything, it's highly encouraging, because just a year ago they seemed on the brink of final victory, a victory so complete that a dark age of frump and cringe seemed to open up before us.

But now it's the wokes who are hiding in their Bluesky Fuhrerbunker, preparing their black pills and loading their Walthers.  No, you purple-haired freaks, Steiner is not coming.  Your nanosecond of defining culture is over, and it's time to get used to being shoved in lockers and given swirlies as it was of old."

Posting always picks up as the morning wears away. The last hour of the Book Thread is typically much busier than the first.

But this is a Prayer Thread, and it is right and proper that we praise God for the gift of feminine beauty. This was being wantonly destroyed by godless people who wanted to defile it. Look at what they did to Ellen Page!

You laugh at the Moron veneration of bewbs, but what are we to make the woke obsession with cutting them off?!

It would perhaps be well to pray for Sydney, because it is clear that there are people who detest not just her, but her representation of female beauty.

In most cases all the entrants are respected, but we like to sort things into heirarchies. Same with women.

Back in the day, "Which Charlie's Angel is hottest?" was an evergreen topic, even though it was obvious that all of them were acceptable.

311 I've never done this before but if the folks here are possibly inclined, please pray for my son, Leo, to gain some humanity and grant him power over the evil that manifests itself in him.

Mon son has done terrible things to people.

He was diagnosed as a sociopath by his couseler that he saw for about a year before everything blew up.

The saddest thing is that it seems to be his fate as his mother is far worse and it runs in her family.

He was such a smart and good kid until the change.

I suffer from a number of chronic conditions and as I contemplate the time I have left here, I have to wrestle with the fact that I may never see him again. And the sad truth that it may be a good thing in certain ways.

There is nothing I can do but pray for him.

This isn't like someone's dying (other than me) but for those inclinsded and may have some sympathy or personal experience with my situation, I would appericiate a prayer from my friends here.

312 Our dishwasher died. I'm washing by hand, which doesn't bother me in the least, but we are shopping to replace it. We've settled on Miele. Pricey, but everything we read says it's worth it. Now to figure out which model. We live in a remote area, so it's a couple of hours' drive to civilization that would have floor models to examine.

314 The piece on Jaguar makes a worthwhile point. That ridiculous joke of an ad didn't happen in a vacuum. Jaguar's sales had been cratering for years. The company's house was on fire and it's c-suite was under huge pressure to do something drastic to turn things around.

Their error was in deciding that the best way to deal with a burning house was to pour gasoline on it.

318 Sweeney probably has the "golden ratio" that makes her so attractive...
Posted by: lin-duh at August 02, 2025 11:17 AM (VCgbV)

Probably. Almost all Hollywood stars are pretty symmetrical.

But, she also has a memorable face. Most big stars don't have a "perfect face". Most "perfect face" actors/actresses rarely go anywhere becuz, they're a dime a dozen. But, with Sydney Sweeney, you know her when you see her.

Same with old Hollywood stars, look at Moron Fave, Myrna Loy, frumpy body, girl next door face, but she had "it", you always knew who she was.
SS also presents herself well and that goes a long way to being attractive.

I think it's pretty funny that some guys upstairs are talking about how they girlfriends, wives or exes were much more attractive than Sydney Sweeney...well, sure, I hope so. Becuz if she's your wife, hopefully you find her very attractive, perhaps the most beautiful woman in the world.

Buuuuut, if she were to present herself here and be subjected to the Sydney Sweeney Picayune Microscope, how many here are going to see the beauty that you do?

I suspect you wouldn't care cuz fuck you if you can't see her beauty.

SS probably feels the same way
