In the time it took you to click this link, I bet you guessed who Streatham Wells School in southwest London chose, in an effort to "tackle misogyny," as an example of masculinity for their boys. During Friday's game between the Valkyries and Sky, what appeared to be a lime-green dildo was thrown onto the court during the third quarter. This comes after a similar incident occurred just three days prior when an object was thrown on the court at the end of the fourth quarter of Tuesday's game between the Dream and the Valkyries. With less than a minute to play and the game tied 75-75, the sex toy fell from above and bounced on the free throw line before flying across the court. A truckload of hot dogs spilled across a Pennsylvania interstate Friday after a crash that briefly clogged the heavily traveled artery in both directions. Crews were stuck with a job they did not relish - rolling up the scattered tube steaks for disposal. Four people required medical attention, Dauberman said, for injuries that police said were not life-threatening. A front-end loader was used to scoop up the hot dogs and drop them into a dump truck. In other food news... Evolutionary origins of the potato revealed - and a tomato was involved A new analysis of 450 genomes from cultivated potatoes and 56 genomes of wild potato species has revealed that the potato lineage originated through natural interbreeding between a wild tomato plant and a potato-like species in South America about 9 million years ago. This hybridization event led to the appearance of the nascent potato plant's tuber, an enlarged structure housing nutrients underground, according to the researchers, who also identified two crucial genes involved in tuber formation. Whereas in a tomato plant the edible part is the fruit, in the potato plant it is the tuber. There currently are roughly 5,000 potato varieties. The potato is the world's third most important food crop, after rice and wheat, for human consumption, according to the Peru-based International Potato Center research organization. China is the world's leading potato producer. Evening, folken,
I'm sorry I missed out on the movie thread. I wanted to mention the 1999 Western I watched last Sunday, The Jack Bull, with John Cusack and written by his father Dick. It's a very very good movie, a horse rancher vs. big cattleman story, little guy against a big one, set in Wyoming as it prepares to become a state. Cusack is genuine; he convinces (as he has in most everything I've seen him in). Miranda Otto plays his wife, long-time character actor L.Q. Jones the antagonist, and there is a solid meaty performance from John Goodman as a judge with a real respect for the law. Recommended. It's pretty slim pickings, especially with that last requirement. Posted by: Blanco Basura Eufy checks all the boxes unless something's changed since I bought mine. They're affordable, well made, and you can purchase the box which they call home base which is that hub for everything. My outdoor cameras were battery powered. The good news is they have a USB C port on the back side. I was able to pick up a tablet sized solar panel from Amazon and it's kept the camera charged for the last 2 years or so. Eufy will sell you the same combination but for some exorbitant amount of money you don't need to do that. Jeannie/Samantha is no Ginger/Mary Ann. Here’s why- they are both incredibly beautiful, but in the same way. Same height, same measurements, same figure, same hair, minor, unremarkable differences in perfect faces, both magic. Correct answer is both. But Ginger’s tall and lithe, Mary Ann short and athletic. Ginger’s ginger, Mary Ann brunette. Ginger’s sophisticated, Mary Ann’s the girl next door. Correct answer is again both, but for entirely different reasons.

Seems like a big hole in the plot line. Posted by: JackStraw at August 02, 2025 *** Some years ago I wrote a short story, no names given, but it was clearly the Bewitched world treated as serious fantasy-drama. Darrin, overwhelmed by her world and her powers, has become an alcoholic, not a comic one either. Her father arrives and counsels her, and she realizes that she can give Darrin one last chance. She removes all traces of herself, and all his memories pertaining to her, while he's asleep. Now it's up to him whether he can make a fresh start on life. And Samantha tells Maurice as they vanish off to their home island: "I did love him, Father. I did, as a woman loves a man. He was not just a pet." I first became aware of Barbara Eden when I was a pre-teen, when she had a role in the TV version of How to Marry a Millionaire, based roughly on the movie with Marilyn Monroe. Barbara played the super-cute girl with the glasses, clearly riffing on Marilyn, as I realized years later.
Elizabeth I saw a year or so before Bewitched in the hardboiled hit-man film Johnny Cool, with Henry Silva in the title role. She was a brunette then. My mother commented that she was Robert Montgomery's daughter, which meant nothing to ten-year-old me. (Don't ask what I was doing watching a violent film about gangster murders at that age.) Later I can see the facial resemblance and the ability with both drama and comedy that Liz and her father had in common.

I made a mental note of something that interested me, though - minor droughts are fairly common in Texas, but Great Droughts that last most of the year, kill a lot of trees and animals, and cover the entire state are year. 2011 was such a year. The last before that was in the mid - 1950’s ( several bad drought years then) and before that was 1896. It suggests a cycle of about 60 years, which is a number that pops up a whole lot when you look for long term weather cycles. Posted by: Tom Servo at August 03, 2025 12:11 AM (t+64Y) 268

It's rather complicated how all these records work out, and you have to study it carefully to get the big picture. Some years/months might have long heat streaks, but not set any high temp records, and all that. 2007 here was a real bitch, 10 days of 100F+. I remember that, a streak of them all in August. But 2011 had only 2 100F days. 1952 was another 10 days of 100F, while 1954 was the 2nd highest 90F days, at 84. Then you've got the earliest and latest occurrences. The earliest first 90F vs the latest first 90F, and then the earliest last 90F and latest last 90F. For example, the record earliest first 90 was Mar 23 in 1907. Haven't gotten anywhere near that since, 10th of Apr. in 1995 being the closet. 2007 did set the all-time latest last 90F, at Oct 9. That date was a tie, also set in 1938 and 1884. That was a teaser, rain nearby, but we didn't get any. Rain can be vary local and spotty around here, especially in these summer pop-up T-storm regimes. We got the cooling, but no rain. Looking, that was the 28th. If you'll pull that up again, note the solar irradiance dropped, indicating cloud cover. If you look at the barometer, you'll see a little spike at the time as well. That's the dropping cooler air raising the pressure. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 03, 2025 12:30 AM (w6EFb) 284

You'll also see a wind spike at the time too, getting a pretty gust. All that is typical of a gust front, or outflow boundary of a T-storm. You've got a region of falling, cool air, with rain in it. It makes a "slap", wind/pressure in front of it. When it behaves that way. Sometimes, it doesn't behave that way. :-) Now, if you'll look at the 31st, we did get a little rain, 0.17". You'll note a similar pattern, but this was followed by a little rebound -- sun came back out. Another odd thing, is you'll note dew point tends to drop. That's due to the much cooler air, but it seems sort of backwards. It's raining, or close to it, yet dew point drops. But, RH increases a lot. At any point in time, look at the gap between T and dew point, the closer, the higher the RH. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 03, 2025 12:47 AM (w6EFb) 300

That makes me recall the night my father broke his hip. It was around 2017, I think. He was taking Ambien -- keep that shit away from the elderly, it's bad business. He was really addicted to it, in a way, demanding it. It didn't do any good, he just couldn't remember the two or three hours he was up and agitated. Well, he was agitated that night, big time. Couldn't lie or sit in one place. He'd get all wobbly on that stuff, and it would vary. I told him, Daddy, stay put or you're gonna fall and bust your head wide open! "No I'm not!" was his reply. Well, I thought he'd settled down on the couch. I was sitting at the computer, and then I heard him spring up, then a big crash, and then moaning.... He fell hard. Hip broken. I'm remember how crazy that Ambien's effect on him would be. One minute he couldn't stand, like he was in a drunken stupor. Then the next minute, he'd move very fast. Problem was he would switch back to stupor mode while in the middle of one of the fast, coordinated cycles. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 03, 2025 03:03 AM (w6EFb) 342

All drugs in the elderly are a problem. When you get older, your metabolism of drugs changes big time, and they don't do much testing on the elderly population. So there can be all sorts of potential problems they aren't aware of until "post marketing" as they call it. I think they found Ambien, even in normal young people didn't really put you to sleep any sooner, it just had that memory wiping effect. You couldn't remember when you were awake. Oh yes, a lot of "sleep walking" episodes with a significant fraction of those taking it. And by "walking" I mean things like driving. Sleep driving. You get in some altered state of consciousness where you have no memory or conscious awareness of what you're doing. I could see that in my father, sort of this weird "lights are on, but nobody's home" look in his eyes. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 03, 2025 03:26 AM (w6EFb) 350

348 All drugs in the elderly are a problem.
