In another, Cait Conley, an Army veteran challenging New York Rep. Mike Lawler, talks about affordability as a video plays of her pressing weights over her head. And when a critic on social media jabbed at his bench-press form in a recent campaign ad, Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed posted a snappy dismissal correcting how many pounds he was lifting.
Ad "That's 315, habibi," El-Sayed said in a post on X that has been viewed more than 5 million times. Politicians working out in public is a bipartisan custom. But Democrats are increasingly posting weightlifting content in hopes of reaching male voters in the so-called "manosphere" that Trump mastered during his campaign. They are also trying to move past the ongoing arguments -- fanned by Trump and Republicans on Capitol Hill -- over former President Joe Biden's physical and mental fitness. "People want to see vigor, they want to see action, that you're prepared to do the job, doing more than sitting behind a podium regurgitating a litany of nonsensical acronyms," said Democratic strategist Joe Caiazzo. Pat Dennis, another strategist, credited candidates for exploring new ways to reach people, but warned about seeming inauthentic. "I would caution Democrats against pulling out a checklist -- 'For young men, we'll do some bench pressing; for young women, we'll talk about the Barbie movie,'" he said. That is absolutely 225. 3 plates would be 315 would be so he's probably just bad at math. When I went to the gym I could do 215 weighing in at a skinny 135 lbs so yeah 225 is no great feat.

If you do a lot of reps, the bar can definitely stress the thumb/index finger. That tiny bit of cushion actually does help your hand. Also, you want every advantage possible to keep that bar off your neck. It's kinda like using a weight belt. Some things, you just want that extra bit of protection because injury is real and can be spectacular.

Yeah I damaged a couple of fingers on each hand so my grip always sucked when I did gym stuff. Now with a plate in one wrist I can't bend one back more than 30 degrees.

I think hands become what they need to be relative to how you use them. I don't need gloves for much but use them a lot more now that I'm 29. Having to use gloves to lift, I think, just shows that you don't lift much.

The comparison is only that it helps provide a bit more protection but clearly not in the same way. The glove spreads the pressure out ever so slightly (padding) on the grip and it does relieve some discomfort on that. Also, the bar rips against the leather and not the epidermis which helps grip comfort. The belt is a completely different tool.

Lula and his party are most definitely taking advantage, Biden-Democrats style, over Bolsanaro's loss and the reaction by his people in trying to launch a military takeover. They also had their own version of J6 where his supporters rushed the buildings in Brasilia.
There's a supreme court judge there, Alexandre de Moraes, who's causing a lot of the problems by going after Bolsanaro and right-wingers, censoring social media and starting investigations, similarly to what's going on across the West.
I wouldn't put it past Bolsanaro's advisers to have actually planned some kind of coup in the case he lost the election, even if they never planned on carrying it out. Bolsanaro was an army colonel who turned that into politics, and it's not like Brazil has never seen right-wing coups and military dictatorships before. After he lost the election he hauled ass to Orlando, FL, which I always thought was suspicious.
Also, he faces petty corruption charges; that he kept items given to him as president which belong to the state, and a charge that he lied on a travel visa claiming he had been vaccinated for COVID when he hadn't.

Health officials in New York City are warning about a lung infection outbreak in certain Harlem zip codes.
The warnings center around the illness known as Legionnaire’s disease and several cases have been reported, according to an ABC 7 article published on Sunday.

Only if you are willing to pull the trigger if necessary for self defense and those of others. And you can hit at what you aim at.
Best to have those self conversations before needing to use a firearm and make a decision where and when you will do so. Defense of self? Family? Others?
Not really even a training issue on the awful decision to pull the trigger but one more of morals, religion, upbringing, and mental toughness. No shame in deciding you cannot end someone's life but don't carry if you cannot. Shooting period is considered lethal force everywhere and warning shots can actually let the thug shoot you in self defense. So it is a binary decision--do you shoot or not. Plus, everyone assumes that it will be some ugly big guy--often it is youths or even females that are deadly threats. You don't get to pick your aggressors in these matters.
Capability to do so effectively is a training issue. And you shoot to end the threat present and NO MORE than that.
