Europe Surrenders to Trump In "Biggest Deal Ever Made" -- 15% Tariffs on European Goods, 0% Imports on American Imports, Over a Trillion Dollars in Purchases of US Goods
EU Newspapers Agree: Europe Got Rolled

The "experts" insisted that Trump's bid to reduce tariffs on US good while imposing a "baseline tariff" of 10% (or 15%) on the world was doomed to fail and would plunge us into a recession.

Trump (and Scott Bessent) calculated that the US market was far too lucrative for any country to write off and that this gave the US huge leverage in negotiating access to our market.

The "experts" were, get this, wrong again.

eurolledover.jpg

telegraphrolledover.jpg

via @Geigercapital and @JB_simple, respectively.

Europe will impose 0% tariffs on US imports and in return, America will tax all European imports at 15%.

President Donald Trump on Sunday announced a landmark trade deal with the European Union, locking in $750 billion in U.S. energy exports and setting a 15% tariff on EU imports. The deal keeps steel and aluminum duties in place while opening EU markets to U.S. goods, military equipment, and investment.

Key Details:

Trump unveiled the agreement alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at a joint press conference following a private meeting at Trump Turnberry in Scotland.

The EU committed to $750 billion in U.S. energy purchases and an additional $600 billion in direct investment into the American economy.

While the U.S. set a 15% baseline tariff on European imports, EU countries agreed to remove tariffs on American goods and ramp up military equipment purchases from the U.S., potentially reaching into the "hundreds of billions," Trump said.

Diving Deeper:

President Trump on Sunday announced a sweeping new trade agreement with the European Union that both sides say will reshape the economic relationship between the world's two largest markets. Speaking alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen from Trump Turnberry in Scotland, the president said the deal marks a turning point after years of imbalance.

"The European countries were essentially closed to us," Trump said. "You weren't exactly taking our orders, you weren't exactly taking our agriculture... but now it's open."

Under the deal, the EU agreed to purchase $750 billion in American energy products, a major win for the U.S. oil and gas sector. Von der Leyen also confirmed that Europe would inject another $600 billion into the U.S. economy through investments on top of existing commitments. The agreement also sets a baseline 15% tariff on European imports into the U.S., including automobiles, while maintaining existing 50% duties on steel and aluminum.

When the tyrannical socialist Ursula von der Leyden, leader of the EU's parliament of traitors, was asked what concessions the US had made to Europe in exchange for Europe's generosity, she couldn't think of a single one:

Now that Japan and the EU have come to terms, the countries who have so far refused to buckle are in worse shape. Those coming late will get worse deals. The US can afford to lose access to the markets of a handful of countries. But they absolutely can't afford to lose access to the US market.

Hello everyone. How was your weekend?

22 The people asking what the US gave up don't realize that the status quo was VASTLY favoring the EU.

The EU just gave up a lot of the unfair advantages they have put in their laws because they knew how bad it would be to be subject to them if the US turned them around on them.

So the "concession" the US made was not hitting them with what they deserved for the years of taking advantage of our stupid political leaders.

They're not. They're just lying.

Everyone knows these "free trade" deals had no economic justification for them, but were backroom deals used to advance the US Deep State's foreign policy goals.

"We'll let you sell in to the US market if you let us put a military base in your country."

"Yeah, but, we can't compete with California wine! We have our own domestic wine makers to protect!"

"No, no, don't worry. You can keep a 50% tariff on American wine, but we'll let you sell your wine in the US without a tariff. It's a win-win."

70+ years of these kinds of deals, and, well... here we are.

Because we have had Europe by the balls since WWII. Our leaders knew it, their leaders knew it, but for some reason, it was verboten for the public on either side of the ocean to say it out loud.

If Trump (or any US president) said "okay, we're putting 200% tariffs on everything from the EU. But any European country who would like to work with us unilaterally can do so" the EU would collapse in about 2 weeks.

This was always an option, but for some reason, none of our leaders since WWII have felt that the American economy and the health of the US middle class was more important than their Great Game foreign policy bullshit (which they also suck at, but at least they can get rich on)

94 Hey Ace.

Donna, I think the market is not responding to this huge deal because this is such a big week of uncertainties. It's the biggest week for earnings reports, including some of the big tech firms that have come to dominate the S&P. Labor statistics coming in. Possibilities of interesting Fed stuff. It appears that the Euro deal is sort of lost in all this, from traders' points of view.

Either that, or they're just sulking because their next BMW is going to cost 15% more.

One of my cats has been very growly toward the puppy- the one named Sabi. 😳

I don't think so. As I understand it, the governing structure of the EU is sort of like the US. The "states" (sovereign countries) can't override the "federal" (EU government) on things like trade.

I'm not 100% on that, but that is what I remember from the Brexit-era end of the world catastrophe, when we all died because of Brexit.

100 The 15% tariff was deemed acceptable to the EU because (I suspect) it's high enough to give Trump his pound of flesh, but also low enough so that it can largely be absorbed. I have always believed the USA was prison-sexed by foreign goods made by foreign companies making insane profits. The 15% means their profits won't be as insane.

They pushed tariffs because "price increase = inflation and inflation is bad" was easy to understand.

The reality of tariffs is that most get absorbed by importers because just passing along the costs ends up being a market disadvantage, and many goods can be imported in other ways from other sources to avoid tariffs as well.

The other reality is that most day to day purchases are free from tariffs because they're mostly made in America, like food. 90% of our food is domestically produced.

Then they go we’ll look nobody here wants your trucks or SUVs. It’s not our fault you make profits nobody wants. When in fact people do want them just not at 2X the price of a Toyota or VW.

177 They screamed this was isolationism and pushing away our allies, while ignoring how European countries have long made it nearly impossible for most American manufacturers to enter their market, and then with the morning EU regulations, they made it even harder.

Trump needs to not just rest on this deal, there needs to be someone overseeing this and making sure the EU doesn't pull their normal shit and just write new laws that still make it impossible for US sales there.

They know these "trade deals" are huge fucking leverage for them to get what they want. And what they want has nothing to do with is best for the shlubs in fly over country. They want what is best for them personally.

So trading away Johnny from Iowa's future earnings so that they can get drilling rights in Kazakhstan is a no brainer if you don't give a fuck about Johnny from Iowa. And anyone against these "trade deals" is an isolationist who doesn't want DC insiders to get rich.

Raw milk is the vector on untold number of diseases that the regulators never name, just that they are bad.

In reality, the main concern USED to be that milk was considered a vector for TB. But since they ship illegals in without any testing, there is a greater risk of TB from illegal aliens.

I used to insist on TB testing because I dealt with migrant workers for about a decade. My insurance did not like me.

Yes. I work in pharma and that is exactly how it works. When I ask our clients' reps why they even participate in a market where they can't sell a drug at the market rate - they tell me "we either make a penny or we make nothing, so we make a penny then charge Americans a dollar."

The solution put forth is to basically tell the pharmas to charge us what they charge the other price-controlled markets. This will work in the short term however it will directly impact capital investiture in research pipelines.

Elric, you're too funny!

To answer your question, TACO ended the day we bombed Iran's nuclear facilities. That was important for the purposes of this post because it showed the world that Trump means what he says. Getting the OBBB passed *before the 4 July deadline* was important, because that showed the world that the nattering nabobs of negativism in Congress weren't going to slow him down either. That showed the EU that Trump has the mojo, and that it wouldn't do them any good to stall. When Japan signed their agreement, Ursula realized that she needed to deal with Trump before the 1 Aug (Friday) deadline.

TACO was always stupid. I have no idea why the MFM decided to make that a 'thing', like 'fetch'. It wasn't going to happen.

All these other countries, the ones making deals, their people are going to see their costs of goods go down dramatically.
Especially food.
Increasing their spending power.

Under the Old Regime:
1) Every country fucks over America and American workers by massively taxing American goods
2) Every other country stagnates and impoverishes their own industry by propping them up via tariffs and subsidies.
3) the US taxpayer then sends aid and/or provides defense so every other country can continue #1 and #2.

The only losers in these deals are the globalists who have been stealing from the people and exploiting their power to write laws for their benefit.

this will amount to an additional 15% Turd Tax increase above and beyond the already existing pricing increases from Turd's inflation/stagflation. Just imagine how this is going to hurt the American consumer for ordinary items like European beer, wine, cheese and other food products

Stupid bastard - he starts a problem and then calls less of a problem a deal. Washington needs an enema

the operative question is what have we been paying on EU imports before this "deal"? According the this NBC News article, But last year, the average U.S. tariff on imports from the European Union was just 1.2%, according to Capital Economics’ chief Europe economist. Americans will pay an average of 13.8% more for their EU goods! Thanks Trump!

There had been articles last week where the EU had been debating retaliatory tariffs. So since this is a "framework" of a deal, I would think (hope) they do put those in place and not capitulate completely.

Posted by: Elric The (One and Only) Blade at July 28, 2025 01:00 PM (iFTx/)

As Mark Steyn pointed out in America Alone 20 or so years ago, the number that matters isn't the total population. It's the demographics of women of child bearing age that really matters in the medium and long term.

Europe, like America, still has a lot of white people. But unfortunately for all of us, the average age of white people skews much higher (ie: the number of Muslims in UK of child bearing age is almost certainly much higher than 8% to 10% of all women of child bearing age).

Demographic shifts happen VERY fast for that reason. A country can go from 80% white to 50% white in 10-15 years if all of the people dying are white and most of the people being born are non-white.

Their problem is that they believe the silly propaganda that Trump is a big old dummy who got lucky on Daddy's money and bullying.

The simple truth is that Trump blinded them with science! mathematics!

That's why Urkel van der Lame looked so beat up. I'm sure she went at him some variation of "but but but we're all friends here and this is the way we've always done things! This will kill us"

And Trump basically Trump said to her "Sorry Petunia, this is what the numbers say. So, this is how it's going to be. You'll do fine. We'll do better."

Trump is a builder. He definitely knows how money works and how to use it. His business was math savvy for decades, and so is his administration now.

313 Wow. Go, President Trump! Proof that if people wait patiently they will see results. Hint, hint...

Our weekend was made extra special by a concert. If any of you have the desire or time to see Alison Krauss and Union Station I highly recommend! Her voice is as pure and ethereal as ever...unchanged for decades.Their tour ends in late September.

No frills, gimmicks or autotune. It is laid bare and one of the best concerts I have had the good fortune to attend in over a decade...not that I see many anymore.

I don't "do" cover bands. And I saw some of the greats in my prime (as well as theirs) starting with Mountain and the original Allman Brothers in HS. I may end with bluegrass...and she's the only one I have listened to. American genre as is jazz. Ballads. She jokes that their music is sad and tragic, but you do not leave unhappy. She is also very witty. Their performance is like breathing to them, and they obviously love and respect each other and the audience.

This concert ranks high on my list. What you hear on their albums you hear live. Jerry Douglas, as my husband said, was on fire!

So if it's a positive feeling they DON'T want you to have, they put a breaker word in between. Same if it's negative (like an illegal murdering someone) and they don't want their readers to feel it. They use breaker words.

"Trump makes deal" would sound positive. "Trump says" is non-positive if not outright negative. But either way they can claim they reported the story.

320 The first thing that comes to my mind on a deal like this is "what am I poking." Will the party I'm poking have a similar leverage against the US in the future and reverse the scenario. As far as the EU goes...nothing to worry about there. They're so wrapped up in climate change and identity politics that they will never return as an economic power house holding all the cards.

China is another party we're poking with a stick. And, if you take everything China tells you as gospel, they not only believe they can put themselves in a position to levy deep economic hurt on the US, they are working towards that goal. The problem is that China's economy is falling apart. Their numbers can't be trusted. And, my personal opinion is that they put on a theater performance to appear much stronger and more stable than they actually are. 325 As Mark Steyn pointed out in America Alone 20 or so years ago, the number that matters isn't the total population.

360 Europe, like America, still has a lot of white people.

Posted by: Harry Paratestes at July 28, 2025 01:03

What, if you are non-white in America, you cannot be inculcated with values like appreciating freedom, the Constitution, and being a citizen?

Please, enlighten me. Because, white on non white, you can be made into a self governing citizen of a republic, if brought up in such a system. Especially here. You can also be brought up in such a way where you are prone to support tyranny. That likewise does not give a damn what color you are.

Thanks for asking about our weekends. Mine was busy but nice. Had a worship service with communion at the assisted living center for Seniors. They are dear people and enjoy singing old time hymns. Check out the residency/ citizen requirements for the EU's very own Liechtenstein sometime. For example, you need to show 30 years of residency to qualify for citizenship. You have to demonstrate integration into Liechtenstein society (so an assimilation requirement). You have to have a documented annual salary of 100,000 Euros. AND, you have to demonstrate a handle on the German language.

100% true. There is absolutely zero proof that this would work, and all common sense says it doesn't work and has never really worked.

Until the immigration reforms in 1965, only people from specific countries could emigrate to the US. And that was determined based on the cultural and demographic make up of the US.

So that was what immigration used to look like. And even then -- mixed results at best.

People from Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Ireland were able to mostly co-exist and form somewhat of a common culture. Our two major counter examples (blacks and Chinese) did not assimilate well at all.

So we decided "fuck it, let's see what happens if we invite the entire third world here? Surely people from dysfunctional societies, backwards religions and extreme poverty will fit right in."
