Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 7/25/25![]() The House Judiciary Committee has released an interim staff report showing that the Biden administration and the FBI manufactured a false narrative of Catholic Americans as violent extremists. New documents obtained by the Committee show that the 2023 Richmond memorandum from former FBI Director Christopher Wray that described traditional Catholics as “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists,” wasn’t an isolated incident. Commenting on Report: How the Biden-Wray FBI Manufactured a False Narrative of Catholic Americans as Violent Extremists,” Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said, “we now know that the Biden Admin’s targeting of Catholics was worse than we thought.”Yes indeed, they're after us and they always will be. And as I noted yesterday and in days past, it begins and ends in the schools where future generations of our tormenters are "groomed" so to speak as our supposed elites/superiors and the rest are conitioned to believe that monstrous fiction and that we must believe and obey them for our own betterment. Some continuing good news on the economic front, with unfortunately the continuing corruption of hack-in-black judges on the immigration front. Oh well. . . ‘Make America Healthy Agenda’ Scores More Wins on Froot Loops and Flu Vaccines
There are no flu "vaccines". There are flu shots. They only started calling the flu shot a "vaccine" after the FDA changed the definition of vaccine in September 2021 from "a product that stimulates a person's immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease" to "a preparation that is used to stimulate the body's immune response against diseases" so they could call the COVID shots -- that do not produce immunity -- "vaccines". Previous government investigations into the Russia collusion hoax dryly described the opposition merely as officials having “expressed concern” about using the infamous Steele dossier because it was “not completely vetted.” But records reviewed by The Federalist reveal career intelligence officials expressed outright shock at the poor quality of the reporting that the FBI repeatedly insisted be included in the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) — and objected to any reference to the dodgy dossier.
IIRC there were 19 or 20 claims in the Steele dossier that were literally vetted to be false in one day of research. Posted by: r hennigantx at July 25, 2025 08:09 AM (gbOdA) 101

Trump's approval rating at 37%
I checked this via Grok: Recent polls indicate President Donald Trump's approval rating has indeed hit 37% in some surveys during his second term. Specifically, a Gallup poll conducted from July 7-21, 2025, reported a 37% job approval rating, marking the lowest point of his second term, driven largely by a 17-point decline among independents to 29%. This figure is slightly higher than his all-time low of 34% at the end of his first term. Other polls, however, show varied results: for instance, a YouGov poll from July 9-13, 2025, reported a 39% approval rating with 56% disapproval, while an RMG Research poll from July 10 showed a higher approval of 50%. Factors like the "Big Beautiful Bill Act," tariffs, and handling of issues like the Epstein files and immigration enforcement have contributed to fluctuations in public sentiment. Approval ratings can differ across polls due to methodology, sample size, and timing, but the 37% figure aligns with some recent data reflecting a dip in support. Just a little bit of direction, a few talking points, and they climb all over each other trying to be the most Leftish. Part of the trick is the two biggest hubs are NYC and DC. Regardless of how ardently Haspel and Nakasone held their positions opposing the release of the House report, because the president is ultimately in charge of all U.S. intelligence and classification decisions, their refusal to cooperate with White House orders to release the report was, in my opinion, insubordination to a U.S. president. Moreover, DNI Gabbard’s action this week proved there were no valid national security reasons not to release a declassified version of this report.

--- If we had a functioning Constitutional republic, we would have nothing to fear from a king, a tyrant, a dictator, a strongman, or any other of the invectives with which they've labeled Trump (and conservatives). But the Democrats have spent the last 150 years tearing down all safeguards, guardrails, restraints and restrictions against such. It wasn't Trump they fear, it's losing their unaccountable power. Nature of man. We can't guarantee our freedoms by giving power to a select few, in the hopes that they'll act nobly and justly on our behalf. Because that's simply not how things work. Its not how people work. Those that seek power ? Generally the least trustworthy with it. And so, we create our own chains by making these alphabet agencies. It only worked during the Cold War because they had an external enemy to focus on. As soon as the USSR fell ? We should have torn down the CIA. As soon as the mafia was gutted ? We should have gutted the FBI. But we didn't, and now they've got a new enemy. Us. Posted by: Long Memory at July 25, 2025 08:38 AM (hk7Ln) 189

They don't model well, they model like shit, and we're supposed to just take it like gospel. I find it best to assume that the public is somewhere between 45-55% of support for any major political figure, absent a real scandal, and anything outside of that should just be laughed at. But the scientist in me always is slow to discount the fact that what you're measuring might actually be real, regardless of how dumb it looks and what assumptions you have already made about reality. Reality is pretty dumb, sometimes, and it's never wise to completely ignore that fact.

But the larger problem is the problem I've always had with polling: cheap polling firms cannot get good samples sizes, so they model.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, searching for thrills with John Frankenheimer at July 25, 2025 08:49 AM (GBKbO) It's deeper than sample size. The sample itself is unstable to the point of being useless. I always liked it when they used to talk about "Democrat" and "Republican" polling firms. Because if I want the right answer - I don't give a damn about their party affiliation. Bloomberg radio fake news is hilarious, today. Characterizing the president's visit to the Fed construction debacle as a "spectacle," and "political theater." PDT showed a letter to powell yesterday showing the cost overrun didn't hike the cost up to $2.7B, but to $3.1B. But Powell, according to Bloomberg radio fake news, had a perfectly valid reason for that $3.1B figure. You see, that figure includes an earlier and totally separate project. HA! It's all in the spirit of exploring whatever the idea is. Which is more fun than a simple "Yeah bro you're awesome" or "Nah bro you're stupid". And you make interesting statements. No. I'd say its moving because the crazy amount of people I've talked to that either vote different than their long-standing political affiliation, or now are politically at least curious with no party affiliation at all. Everything is changing - quickly in the grand scheme. Republicans are moving to national populism. Democrats are trying to meld corporate globalism with straight up communism. These are not the traditional cornerstones of either party. How do you model that ? By calling 10 people in a county that turned out 60% Dem for the past three elections rife with fraud , and multiplying by the ratios ? The 60% is a joke, not all ten of those people are being honest, and at least a couple don't even give a damn about party registration anymore. Everything is moving too fast to model. Posted by: It's me donna at July 25, 2025 09:09 AM (VE6XX) ***** The Dems would have used this 4 yrs ago if they had anything. No doubt Merrick Garland researched it. So funny how this smells just like the Kavanaugh smear. People feel they can say anything to take down Trump and just plead the fifth. Posted by: redridinghood at July 25, 2025 09:19 AM (NpAcC) 313
Stats work when you have something that fits the template, yes. Political polls do not fit the template even a little bit.
Posted by: WitchDoktor at July 25, 2025 09:14 AM (06wU2) On of my absolute irritations - statistics as attempted to be applied in reality. Confidence intervals only work, as you know, when you have the luxury of "working backward". As in you already know statistical formulation generating the data set. The first one they ever teach you is "assume a coin flip". A yes/no even probability. Yet these geniuses will try to apply that to a poll question. Not the same thing. The shiny fresh faces would always try this in industry. The "six sigma" crap back in the day with all their stupid online data and excel sheets and pretty graphs ... all based on incorrect first assumptions of the data set. Because guess what ? Those results weren't random either. Always directly relatable to process, material, or tooling variations. Usually resulting in clusters. They'd make their graphs, I'd go fix the problems. We got a call in the night that Rev's brother's neighbor had requested a wellness check on Rev's brother. Hadn't been seen getting the mail or mowing the lawn. Calls went to voicemail. Police came and found him dead on the floor. Today we try to find out what to do next.

Indeed. Over at the once-great Power Line blog, John Hinderaker is asking "what crime?" in response to Tulsi Gabbard's referral to DoJ for criminal prosecution. But Mr. Hinderaker's Republican Party Country Club blazer is smartly pressed, so there's that. Posted by: LibertyDefender at July 25, 2025 01:15 PM (6Lsdj) Processing 0.06, elapsed 0.0648 seconds. |
