Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Wednesday Morning Rant![]() The main takeaway from Original Sin is that CNN doesn't do reporting/investigating. Tapper admits that everything they said about Biden's mental and physical health was based solely on what the White House said.Yes, and? Why is this surprising? It isn't new. It was nearly a decade ago that the White House publicly boasted about this, well before Biden was even a gleam in the Party's eye as a controllable, compromise candidate to wade into the vacuum left by the various Democrat factions all seeing their preferred candidates collapse early in the 2020 campaign. This isn't some new reality, and it has nothing to do with Biden. Biden was a beneficiary of prior work and neither he nor his people built the environment that made this possible. Though he, too, stood on the shoulders of giants, the total credulity of the press - total to the point that it doesn't even know how to be anything else - is the product of Barack Obama and his administration. Specifically, it is the product of Ben Rhodes, who worked manfully for years to create exactly the environment that Tapper is now decrying and at which everyone is, laughably, claiming some sort of surprise. Rhodes was astonishingly clear about it when he spoke to the New York Times for its fawning special article about him in 2016.He is the master shaper and retailer of Obama's foreign-policy narratives, at a time when the killer wave of social media has washed away the sand castles of the traditional press. His ability to navigate and shape this new environment makes him a more effective and powerful extension of the president's will than any number of policy advisers or diplomats or spies. So he was a big, important spin doctor but it goes somewhat beyond that. In his own words, as quoted by the New York Times: "We created an echo chamber," he admitted, when I asked him to explain the onslaught of freshly minted experts cheerleading for the deal. "They were saying things that validated what we had given them to say." When I suggested that all this dark metafictional play seemed a bit removed from rational debate over America's future role in the world, Rhodes nodded. "In the absence of rational discourse, we are going to discourse the [expletive] out of this," he said. "We had test drives to know who was going to be able to carry our message effectively, and how to use outside groups like Ploughshares, the Iran Project and whomever else. So we knew the tactics that worked."And now, a decade later, people claim surprise. Why? This is not a surprise. It wasn't a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention, and it can't have been a surprise to those in the press blindly reporting whatever the White House told them to report. It's all they know how to do. Obama, Rhodes and various others built - and boasted about - the "echo chamber" that replaced what was left of the dreg-infested newsrooms across the country. Anyone in the press or anything even approaching a wonkish position who now claims surprise that the press credulously published everything they were told to publish and asked no questions deserves nothing but disbelief and derision. They knew because they had to have known. It was nearly a decade ago that those who helped design the modern Press echo chamber went to that same echo chamber to boast about it. This is how the press works, and the only way it knows how to work. The American press was never any good, but it's now also hopelessly incompetent. It asks no questions not only because it doesn't want to, but because it doesn't even know how any more. It is an echo chamber filled with automata, and nothing more. It can be nothing else. With the Biden dementia story, along with everything else before, during and after his illegitimate administration, the Press is operating precisely according to its design - and nobody can credibly claim surprise about it. It is working as its designers built it to work, before they took their victory laps in the New York Times Magazine. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

The point of the FNM is to spread and support the narrative. Not only is it not presenting "news" it is generally focused on suppressing news worthy items.
Consider, for example, how much press BLM received for its supposed 5 victims of police brutality over a decade. Each one of those cases got maximum and coverage making casual viewers believe there were way more then 5 cases. Now imagine if the FNM covered illegal alien murders and rapists this way. Every day there would be *multiple* such stories. And the populace would *demand* all the illegals be removed immediately... Posted by: 18-1 at July 23, 2025 11:13 AM (t0Rmr) 42

Vance asked what she meant and she said the local town official had said had happened so obviously it was fake news. Vance pointed out there were sworn statements by citizens saying they saw the Haitians doing it and the bimbo again said the story was debunked because the local official said so. Vance thought for a moment and asked her "Isn't it your job as a reporter to GO TO the location of a story and talk with the PEOPLE THERE - not just the town official but the people who have made the claim - and then present all of what you found without bias to the public?" Vance was being interviewed by a news bimbo who asked him to deny the story since it had been debunked. Vance asked what she meant and she said the local town official had said had happened so obviously it was fake news. Vance pointed out there were sworn statements by citizens saying they saw the Haitians doing it and the bimbo again said the story was debunked because the local official said so. Vance thought for a moment and asked her "Isn't it your job as a reporter to GO TO the location of a story and talk with the PEOPLE THERE - not just the town official but the people who have made the claim - and then present all of what you found without bias to the public?" Secretary Kennedy Threatens Closure of Deficient Organ Procurement Organization
WASHINGTON—July 21, 2025— The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the leadership of Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. today announced a major initiative to begin reforming the organ transplant system following an investigation by its Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) that revealed disturbing practices by a major organ procurement organization. “Our findings show that hospitals allowed the organ procurement process to begin when patients showed signs of life, and this is horrifying,” Secretary Kennedy said. “The organ procurement organizations that coordinate access to transplants will be held accountable. The media press “echo chamber” was fully and completely operational as far back as the 1950s, a cursory examination of what they did to the Whistleblowers in the State Department and the Army, Roy Cohn, Senator McCarthy et al, clearly demonstrates this.

As you said, Colbert was simply in the lead and the merger meant that CBS legacy exec types could not save his money losing ass. Ironically, it hurts the other two remaining network late night hosts--Kimmel and Fallon for Colbert to have the long goodbye. Kimmel, at least, is safe as long as Iger is still CEO but Iger's days are getting shorter as well as Disney retread head. Fallon has the heavy legacy of the Tonight Show behind him but is performing the worst out of the big three. He thinks CBS ought to fire him now and settle the contractual dispute that will follow rather than bleed the multi-millions the show will lose between now and next year. Just read a LA Times sob story about how free legal services are being cut for illegals.
How there used to be posters and kiosks everywhere in the immigration buildings offering legal aid. Oh, it's the usual pile of shit, lots of women and children mentioned, and the fear and the worry and the meanness. Cry me a fucking river. We are just barely scratching the surface of how well-funded, coordinated and intense the left's efforts to flood the country with illegals was. Not just the all the government agencies and programs, not just the hundreds and thousands of non-profits and NGOs--but all of it with our fucking money!! Reporters are no less lazy and slacking in their jobs than any other profession. With AI and press releases, its even easier to be lazy and unprofessional these days than ever. Speaking of ZS Superman-
While flying across the Atlantic a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that they had Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" and "Batman VS Superman" on video. So, I decided to watch them again since I've had time to get over my disappointment of those movies. Bulletpoints: 1) Snyder had no fucking idea at all who Superman was or what his story was about. 2) ZS's Superman story is about fear. The fear of a dangerous, all-powerful god that will one day destroy us all. His Justice League cut hammers that home, 3) Viewed in that light, ZS did a pretty great job with his movies as movies (But they still suck mightily as Superman movies) but he probably was building toward insane evil Superman in his next flick. 4) I don't hate BvsS. It's actually well done given ZS's overall plan. Also, it plugs into a Justice League comic book story where all the Justice Leaguers are getting murdered, and it turns out that someone hacked Batman's contingency plans should they ever go rogue. 5) James Gunn's Superman is in part a direct refutation of ZS's Superman movies. It's like a cinematic debate society! Posted by: naturalfake at July 23, 2025 11:55 AM (iJfKG) 251

OR...when and how did the idea that the newspapers, news channels, etc were reporting facts and not propaganda?
——— There was a brief period, post World War II, when this got going. Newspapers and magazines formerly were unabashedly partisan. “The Red Wing Democrat” etc. When the FCC had to take over the airwaves, the idea of “equal time” was born, among other things. The notion of an objective press, and a sort of “we’ll report, you decide” was a kind of balm to assuage the masses. It was never true. By the 1970s “New Journalism” was on the rise. Who what where when was replaced by ideologues. “I became a journalist because I wanted to make a difference.” Even Ed Murrow carried water to make Senator McCarthy and the Army hearings look bad. Scoop Jackson. Stu Symington. They all knew, but they used the then-new Televised hearings for maximum propaganda value. All states over three congressional districts must draw congressional districts with the aim to parity in party representation in Congress within 10% of the overall party preference as represented by the most recent presidential election.
