73 As to why not the powerlines, this is a telegraph line in this painting. Unless power is transmitted by superconductors, it gets wasted too far from the generator.
Plus I think this painting is 1872. Electricity was being actively researched (Maxwell's equations were published 1861-2) but they weren't yet used outside universities.

Walking thirty miles with a sack on his back
And he put down his load where he thought it was the best
He made a home in the wilderness
He built a cabin and a winter store
And he ploughed up the ground by the cold lake shore
And the other travellers came walking down the track
And they never went further, no, they never went back

Then came the churches, then came the schools
Then came the lawyers, and then came the rules
Then came the trains and the trucks with their loads
And the dirty old track was the telegraph road

I love the two cow skeletons; totally random. And the Native American's having a big wahoo dance next to their teepees; something like that would cause a couple cities to go up in flames these days.

I would be in favor of Columbia being replaced by Hulk Hogan. It is an idea whose time has arrived.

Also this image is shockingly small at 11" x 15". The Hulk Hogan version should be at least 11 x 15 feet.

146 The theme is entirely positive. A God-given (hence the angel) mandate to settle a continent through effort and technological progress. There is a strong sense of ongoing movement, nothing static, and everything is alive. The Indians and buffalo fleeing before the wave of settlers would probably not be seen as tragic for the time. After all, manifest destiny required it. I'm sure modern critics would bewail that part of the painting.

I don't care for Gast's human figures very much. They are expressive but rather stylized. But his landscape and seascape paintings are excellent in both the scenes and the colors used in them.

from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no
immunity for unofficial acts"

The question to me is...would Obama's actions regarding the key meetings count as within his "conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority" and then, if not, would presumptive immunity protect him from any and all suits for such an official act.

And then, was the meeting in question where he set things up an unofficial act?

Again, do you have proof that Obama ordered them to make up fake evidence?

Yes, there was a meeting in December where Obama told Brennan and Comey to look at the evidence again but I haven't seen actual proof yet that he told them to make up evidence. Courts usually prefer evidence over opinions even when the opinions seem obvious.

Now if Brennan or Clapper or Comey or one of the others in that meeting claim Obama ordered them to do the Code Red that might be a different story.

Via Grok:

The Supreme Court's ruling in Trump v. United States (2024) grants former presidents absolute immunity for actions within their core constitutional powers and presumptive immunity for other official acts within the "outer perimeter" of their duties. However, it explicitly states that there is no immunity for unofficial acts.

The Court’s majority opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, emphasizes that immunity does not extend to actions that are unofficial or purely personal in nature. Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson, in their dissents, underscored that crimes like treason or sedition would not be shielded, warning that the ruling does not protect a president who "violates the law" for personal gain or evil ends. Multiple posts on X also reflect this understanding, consistently stating that treason and sedition are excluded from immunity as they are not official presidential duties.

Therefore, the presidential immunity ruling does not cover treason or sedition, as these are unofficial acts subject to criminal prosecution.

298 The Court’s majority opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, emphasizes that immunity does not extend to actions that are unofficial or purely personal in nature.

Re the Macrons suing Candace Owens: How can non-American citizens sue an American citizen in a US court? How does that work?
Posted by: Bulg at July 25, 2025 10:26 AM (77rzZ)
——

Anyone can sue anyone for anything. That’s an exaggeration, but not by much. Foreigners can sue in US courts just like an American can, assuming there’s personal jurisdiction over the defendant (which there is over CO since she lives here). It doesn’t often happen that a foreigner brings a lawsuit in USA (unless the foreigner lives in USA), because of the cost and logistics. But the Macrons have the resources.

Not that another impeachment has a marzipan dildo's chances of doing anything useful. 2/3 of the Senate still won't vote for conviction.

When the midterms roll around a swath of his base may want him impeached.

Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth. I'm in. Bring it on! Don't threaten me with a good time!

Idiotic strategy. The threat of impeachment won't encourage anybody to vote for Republicans that wasn't already going to vote Republican. In fact, it may make many more people more excited to vote for Democrats.

This will not move the needle. People understand and respond to groceries, housing, and child rape stories.

Normal political calculus says that the opposition party will gain seats, and with such a small majority, it's logical to assume that Democrats will control the House.

Except...I'm not sure this normal political calculus should apply to the midterms of a second, non-contiguous administration where the term in between was seen by a majority of the public as stolen and illegitimate, and a good portion of the opposition's election funding is being cut off.

We actually surprised her with the replacement yesterday. It's a lesser version of the original, but rides really nice and is VERY clean for a 10 year old ride.

The insurance paid off the other one and we've seen no bill, so I'm guessing they just took their original value of the car and matched what we owed, which was only a couple hundred different.

I'm sure we'll feel it around renewal time, but I can't really complain much. Every time we've needed the insurance, they've come through without question.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect the normal forces to take over--unless there has been a party with a 19% approval rating -- and almost 50% inside the party, that gained seats in a midterm.

However, if it does conform to normal midterm behavior, I'll just about give up on America.

It depends how much can be stretched to somehow, maybe, be within the very outer limits of Presidential duties, which a remarkably high bar. Obama could claim this is all a badly thought out mole hunt for Russian agents. Ridiculous but, tough to prove against.

418 One of the more amusing things about Starship Troopers is that when you ask leftists why the book is fascist they really struggle.

They normally latch on to the notion that only those that served get to vote, either in the military or equivalent (and equally dangerous) non-military roles. Now...everyone CAN serve, but it does limit the franchise.

That has nothing to do with fascism of course. And frankly it isn't a terrible idea either.
