Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Bird-Hands Swarm: Flabby Fat Failure Jimmy Kimmel Flaps His Dick-Sucker and Shakes His Manboobs In Anger About His Own Impending FiringAnd we're not done. The firing of Stephen Colbert makes it more likely the fat sack of anger and erectile dysfunction Jimmy Kimmel also be fired. Iger can't keep telling shareholders he's losing $35 million per year (or whatever) just for the sake of anti-Trump propaganda. And of course we've already heard that Kimmel's contract is up next year and no one at ABC is rushing to re-sign him. So now he's sniping at CBS.Katie Couric is a celebrity? What century was this article written in? Paramount says the decision is "purely financial." Boy they're not kidding. CBS lost $40 million on Colbert's show this year alone. Sources inside CBS have suddenly become much more forthcoming about the sobering economics of late-night television in 2025--go figure-- revealing that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has recently been running at an annual shortfall of $40 million. If that sounds unthinkable for the #1 rated show at 11:35pm, consider this: as Matt Belloni reports today in Puck, back in 2018, all of late-night television combined generated $438 million in advertising revenue. By 2023, that number had been cut in half, and it has continued to fall. Given that The Late Show--with its handsomely paid host and a staff of roughly 200 employees--reportedly costs CBS $100 million per year to produce, that $40 million figure becomes easier to understand. Belloni also reports that CBS executives had been discussing the future of its Late Show franchise for months, and that Colbert's team was informed around July Fourth that the show was in jeopardy.Ah. As I suspected: Colbert "got brave" on July 7th and denounced his network only after the network told him they were cancelling his Regime "Comedy" propaganda hour. ("Regime Comedy" was used by Ed Morrissey in his post.) $40 million lost in a single year. And yet the left is OUTRAGED that one of their money-losing propagandists is losing his job. Simpering fembots like Chris L. Hayes (an Allahpundit fave) are crying that firing their shareholder-value-destroying, no-advertisers-want-to-touch-them TV clowns means that Democracy Is Dying In Darkness. Oh?

If it seems Kimmel is about to be fired, I 100% expect that he'll again use his son as a human shield, and claim he needs to take time off to care for him, hoping that he'll garner some sympathy and not get fired.
As for all these late night shows, especially Colbert, they don't even try to hide their partisanship anymore. Why is a late night comedy show, meant basically as an advertisement for movie studios, constantly bringing on Democrat politicans? It's nothing but political laundering that should be subject to campaign finance laws. Id like one of these shows to be replaced with a weekly Jools Holland type show, but we know it'd turn in to just 1 shitty pop act, instead of the eclectic mix he always had on. Johnny Carson was considered the king of the late-night TV talk hosts. He'd started earlier than most (1962) and had a good thirty-year run. He also was funny and apolitical, as in he'd bash both sides of the political aisle equally. He also had interesting guests on, celebrities who were more entertaining than merely plugging their latest movie, and "real people" who had done something noteworthy. He knew how to make his guests look good.
Still, I loved Merv Griffin's early Westinghouse-sponsored syndicated talk show in '66 and '67. It was held in a small theatre with a small audience, and somehow you felt as if you belonged there, that you'd stumbled across a great place to hang out. Rodney Dangerfield appeared there, as did an early (and clean) Richard Pryor, and there were oddball New York actors and celebs like Joanne Worley, later to be famous on Laugh-In. The networks should start the old midnight test pattern and National Anthem at 10pm. Who is watching? My MIL is really dead. My own mother is in bed. Seriously, who on earth watches this crap? I barely watch anything. We watch stuff after dinner, mostly to make up our own dialogue and make fun of whatever sad series we find ourselves watching. I think the last series I loved was...I can't remember! Oh...Dark Winds. The last two series have been ED stuff and I like to diagnose to keep my skills sharp, and critque all the bullsheet needle sticks. The IV starts are pitiful. Is there no one there to tell them? And the CPR...sometimes on the thoat. Or a good cut down for a tracheotomy. It is so pitiful. Then the "love story" bleah. My husband mostly thinks the star girls are fugly, so we go through that. Or, if they sigh a lot it drives him insane. This is our entertainment vs late night. We find ourselves much more fun. We watch some stuff til it is gone, like NCIS. I can't say it made us jump for joy like Mags on Justified. I loved her. And Longmire. Random movies. Sometimes we give up and do other things. Cooper is giving a James Burke/Connections level dissertation on Epstein's life. Weird random fact: Donald Barr, Bill Barr's dad, who gave college drop out Epstein his first job, worked for the OSS and in his spare time would right lurid novels about Alien's who would abduct humans as sex slaves. I was involved in a case where a guy forgot he had gotten metal in his eye years earlier. MRI yanked a tiny shard of metal out of his eyeball. Bloody mess

Posted by: Thomas Bender --------------- Someone said that suggesting Epstein worked for Mossad was anti-Semitic. That's like saying Epstein working for CIA is anti-American. 212 I just spun the wheel of MOVIE ROULETTE and it came up with:
"Big Trouble in Little China" Yay or nay? Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at July 18, 2025 06:26 PM (IBQGV) It's been awhile since I've seen it so I'd definitely say Yay. I used to have it on the DVR but they had to replace that unit and I lost everything, a few times. Posted by: SpeakingOf at July 18, 2025 06:45 PM (6ydKt) 280
Look, let me fix this for CBS.
Step 1 - shitcan all your late-night comedy. Step 2- go on you tube and find 100 of the funniest creators. Step 3 - Give them each $1 million per year, to generate 1/2 hour of exclusive content per week. That is 50 hours of content per week, 2600 hours per year. Step 4 - Basically, you have an infinitude of shows to show your audience. 10PM to 1 AM. Every night. You pick the best six 1/2-hour comedy shows. Step 5 - You adjust what hits with what doesn't hit. Drop the losers, recruit new shows. I promise you'll make a LOT more money at a LOT lower cost. Posted by: El Mariachi - Attorney at Law at July 18, 2025 06:49 PM (gDhA9) 281

The only time I would watch him is if I was babysitting and the people came home late. But I've seen quite a few clips on YouTube. He was funny and apolitical.
Posted by: bluebell at July 18, 2025 05:51 PM (P/Jb0) I’ve seen clips of Carson with Bob Newhart on the show. The two of them are just gold. Nobody could replace Johnny, he was king of late night. Posted by: Advo at July 18, 2025 07:49 PM (jO4mz) 283
