The Morning Rant

I'm old enough to remember the summer of 1974 pretty vividly. The feeding frenzy in Washington, D.C. was the Watergate hearings leading to the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon on August 9, 1974.

What is the current feeding frenzy in ~~Washington, D.C.~~ The Swamp? Is it RussiaGate and the possible criminal indictments of James Comey and John Brennan? No, it involves the late Jeffrey Epstein's missing client lists and the bumbling US Attorney General Pamela Bondi.

I voted for President Trump thrice and do not regret my votes nor my campaign contributions. He's not my spiritual leader, he isn't my dog sitter, he's not my golf buddy. He's my president. I voted for him and his policies. And that those policies would be implemented by competent cabinet selections.

President made "Transparency" a promise during the 2024 campaign. And when the president and/or his AG aren't going to be transparent on a promise. The president needs to be called on it. Especially since the current dust up should have never happened. Of course this is just the fodder the MSM needs to avoid covering more important matter.

I'm not sure who whispered into President-Elect Trump's ear about selecting Rep. Matt Gaetz as U.S. Attorney General. Obviously a chunk of red meat thrown out for the MAGA movement. So who ever said, "Let's replace this polarizing figure with a clueless DEI state AG." Didn't do any better. Obviously Pam's bleached roots have contaminated whatever common sense she may have possessed.

Instead of telling us who diddled whom on Epstein Island. She thought a good way to say "Squirrel, I'll change the optics" is to terminate people who probably should have been fired sooner rather than later. Later being now to cover her ass for her botched Epstein file handling.

Attorney General Pam Bondi — who has been purging the Justice Department of anyone tied to the Jan. 6 prosecutions as well as the prosecutions of President Donald Trump — fired the lawyer personally advising her and the department’s thousands of employees on ethics, Bloomberg reported Sunday.
Joseph Tirrell, who began his career in the Navy and spent almost two decades in the federal government, was fired Friday via a brief letter from Bondi, who gave no reason for the termination. The same day, Bondi fired 20 DOJ employees who were involved in prosecuting Trump. She has also recently fired employees related to the prosecutions of the Jan. 6 riots on the Capitol. Tirrell had advised Special Counsel Jack Smith on ethics related to the prosecution of Trump, Bloomberg reported.

As I write this Pam Bondi is still the AG. Dan Bongino is still deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And "Law & Order" Cash Patel is still the Director of the FBI.

Nothing will happen to either Bondi, Bongion or Patel. They will "kiss and make up" and somewhere down the road either they will resign or be fired. The NDAs they signed will forbid them from spilling whatever they may know.

Some may call me a cynic. But, I'm a realist, nothing will happen to the Diddlers of Epstein Island. Nothing will happen to the Swamp Creatures. Nothing happens to the professional protesters but OMG how dare someone walk through the capitol? It really doesn't matter who the POTUS is anymore. There are at least two sets of laws in this country and there isn't a damn legal thing we can do about it.

32 6 I'm far less interested in the Epstein stuff at this point than I am in people's reaction to it.

First, a lot of people need to feel as though they know 'the truth'. See the JFK and RFK killings for examples where theories have no real evidence and persist regardless. It seems to be very hard for many people to admit that they have no information to make a real determination about something.

Second, the Epstein stuff has been very revealing about right-wing "influencer" types. Who gives a nuanced take, and who keeps hammering on about it? It's a tell. We are at a point where numerous people refer to "their sources" like they are Natasha Bertrand at CNN. Bongino wasn't at work on Friday and was going to quit if Bondi wasn't fired. Nothing has happened (so far), and yet people don't (rightly) throw the person who told them this stuff under the bus as a result.

Finally, a lot of people (including on this blog, unfortunately) like to be miserable. It's a slow news period. Things are mostly going pretty well (especially compared to 6-12 months ago). Instead of enjoying things, people gripe, because it's weirdly pleasant for them.

Axshullee, it's the hard core Trump influencers on social media who are causing most of the puckering. Trump, not Bondi, Trump wants this put to the side. Obviously, he is not a fan of Epstein. And we know Epstein was doing some very bad shit and protected by some very powerful people both in the US and abroad. Has it occured to you exposing those ties right now might be very bad for the US?

It's even more jarring for those of us who were Trump-curious in 2016. Trump was not my first choice (Rand Paul was, if that gives you any indications of what my politics were back then), but I was open to it mostly because he was a brash outsider and politics is fake and gay, as was blindingly obvious with TARP / TEA Party / 8 years of R failure theater under Obama and he talked about building a border wall, ending the endless wars, and getting rid of the atrocious "free trade" deals.

On this very blog, and throughout the right wing mediasphere, a LOT of people (including bloggers and commenters on this very site) were very anti trump. Like people got banned on this site for their pro-Trumpiness.

And now I'm being told if I'm not 100% on board with every move Trump makes, I'm not True MAGA or a True Republican, I'm secretly pro Putin, antisemitic, a troll and working for the D's.

That's cult like thinking, guys. We should cut that out. We're not Obama voters in 2008. We can disagree with Trump on things. That's okay.

Two track justice occurs when enough money and power can hire the lawyers to get away with a lot. If charged, at best, the wealthy are convicted of process crimes , not the underlying offense.

Diddy is a perfect example--the jury refused to convict on RICO charges. Michael Jackson paid his accusers off. Bill Cosby only got into trouble when he departed from the reservation for alleged conduct in the 70's in most cases.

I don't think either of those takes are insane. I think there is quite obviously a Deep State of which our permanent bureaucracy and intel agencies are a big part of, and of which Trump has spent the last 10 years angrily railing against, who worked against him at every step.

And I think the Deep State in many ways has much more power than any elected official, including the President.

I don't. Trump has more than earned my trust. I didn't vote for him in 2016. I'd have crawled over molten glass to vote for him in 2020 and 2024.

People here who have security clearances will understand what I'm going to say here. We quickly get used to not having the full picture on any classified work we're doing. We get a small piece of the whole and operate only within those limits. There are things we don't know, and we don't know WHAT we don't know. That's the entire point.

Example - guy with a Secret clearance is ordered to bomb some nondescript apartment building. He looks at the orders and on his own concludes that there's something horrible afoot, the people who live there are witnesses to corruption who need to be quieted, etc. When you get to the TS level, we see that the apartment building housed arms, troops, etc for a Muslim uprising against Warsaw or something. The first guy didn't know what he didn't know.

So, is there something else in this case? Was Epstein a sooper international man of mystery? Was he an idiot and a nobody? Both? Something else? Did he write stupid manifestos such that he had to be monitored? No one here knows, and generally no one else outside of a limited few does either.

So far, the only one of the teenage girls who was willing to have her face plastered all over the newspapers, gossip rags and internet sites was Virginia Guiffre, who named Prince Andrew as her rapist. She sued and won a major settlement from him, got him practically excommunicated from the royal family, who also stripped him of titles, homes, etc. Then she ended up committing suicide. Others who also were on the island, have been mostly quiet except for the few that testified anonymously at Ghislane's trial. The flight logs have been published. The list of names on it, with juveniles redacted is public knowledge. Does that mean every one of them had sex with 16-17 year old girls on the island or in his home in NY? Highly unlikely. Without cooperative witnesses, who many have likely asked to be left alone, what case do you have?

Zimmerman case was a bit more complicated. Bondi picked Corey as special prosecutor which frankly the local prosecutor had no problem with.

So you are essentially conflating Bondi picking Corey (who delegated to the trial attorneys) as special prosecutor as railroading Zimmerman.

In a similar case in GA, Gov. Kemp's AG used a special prosecutor from the Atlanta area to go after the three dudes in the jogging Arberry case because the local DA refused to prosecute. Those guys got convicted and are serving what is probably life sentences for them.

High profile cases get special prosecutors including the fake hate crime actor in Chicago--Jesse Smollett or some such.

I am certainly not aware of statements, etc. made by Bondi that indicated favorability to Zimmerman or to the Martin family so please point those out to me if you have them and I will revise my opinion accordingly.

Legitimately, it was mostly locker room talk but there were always few who did "take a year off" from school. This is especially true as Barr, Wray, Garland, etc. are not trustworthy custodians of any evidence and the FBI botched the case purposefully (same thing in Las Vegas with the killer sniper case) by failing to gather evidence promptly (videotapes, documents, etc. were apparently not gathered after Epstein's arrest) for days after (Epstein Island) or 24 hours or so in NYC case. Dunno about NM ranch.

The ancient Greek philosophers valued justice but they also recognized that an excessive zeal for justice can lead to bad things happening as the cause becomes bigger than the process for justice.

Epstein probably was an 'asset' of intel agencies giving information to those agencies for decades. Like Whitey Bulger. But unlike Bulger and the FBI, the CIA cannot legally work inside the country--so they would either have a partner agency MI-6 for example, act as conduit. Five Eyes is the model

359 In the grand scheme of things, Epstein is a very big deal. If Israel and or the CIA is blackmailing our elected officials, Right Now, that is, well, important. For Israel, its a causus belli. For the CIA, its justification for the rope.

Trump is lying for some reason. Maybe a good one. Probably at least a half decent reason. I will continue to trust Trump, but the Epstein Files are never, ever going to go away. Instead, I will hope that in a few months, Trump gets his trick sorted out, and leaves with all the money on the table, including the Files released.
