Superstition Mountains, Arizona

Had to do a quick swap. I got a better look at the first pic I posted, of "Sleeping Lady Mountain," and realized it was faker than Jasmine Ratchet's blaccent.

Little bear waving.

Half-assing your workout. We're all guilty.

Low-T dog regrets eating so much soy.

He's the Aquaman of cockatoos.

Big puppy wants affection.

Big cat plotting in a tree.

Sea otter convention.

It was like this when I came in.

Stormy weather.

Bottom feeder.

How to clean your hooters.

Keeping your kid on a short leash.

Bringing up an orphaned crow.

Seal wants to surf.

Duckling horde.

Sultry pigeons show off their gams.

163 You can see Devil’s Tower from the Interstate as it passes just south of it, if you look carefully. It’s quite a ways away, but it is unmistakable. I like OG landmarks, and visiting them. Chimney Rock, Pompey’s Pillar, Shiprock, etc. They were guideposts for early explorers and settlers, proof they were in the right spot, at least.

165 When I was walking the trail, there was a woman sitting on a rock, with three little ones near her. Up on a boulder, peeking inside a crevasse, was presumably the father of the kids.

I said hello to the woman, and she gestured at her husband, said he thought he heard something in there, and had his phone out with the flashlight on...

He came off the rock saying "this big rock is supported by a smaller rock." The big one is the one under which he had his head.

I could see the headlines the next day: Man decapitated at Devil's Tower. Or: Bear mauls man to death, after he sticks his head in the bears den.

Cute kids. They deserve a better dad.

To make sure that every dot of grease and grime from the lines and deck machinery end up on your uniform when making a harbor call.

To say nothing of all the slop, beer, barf, dirt, mud, ladyboy drippings, and LBFM goo and blood that you pick up while on liberty.

193 I love the superstitions! But there’s some creepy, lonely spots back in them.

That cactus up front, the fuzzy looking cholla, is called jumping cactus for good reason. If you get anywhere near one, one of those small cholla balls will break off, and the needles which have inverse barbs will quickly work through your clothes (even blue jeans) and into your skin. Very painful!!!

I believe there was a technique to put a weight on the end of long rope, and spool it out from a circling airplane. If they got the details right, they could get the weight nearly motionless in one place.

But given that it was 1930, there were a few dirigibles in service at that time.

Women seemed to love an officer in dress whites.

Plus, the shoes don't have to be spit shined!

A trick the PO2s and 3s played on new seamen in dress whites was to flick cigarette ash on their pants just as the formation was being called. Being newbs, they would try to brush it off, leaving a nasty streak, rather than blowing it off.

Yeah, that's the narrative.

The thing is, Putin... AND EVERYONE ELSE IN HIS GOVERNMENT has said multiple times they're not going to have a cease fire. They want a negotiated end. Period.

Idiots in DC and Brussels keep saying "But maybe we could get a cease fire if we do this!"

So the Rooskies got tired of the nonsense, and went back to killing Ukes.

Doesn't make the Rooskies the good guys, but it sure doesn't make anyone in the West good guys either. This could have been stopped 3 years ago. With fewer deaths and less territory that will have to be given up.

The genesis of the modern tie was the wool ascot, with the object being that the gravy would hit the (comparatively) easier to launder ascot, thereby saving the white linen shirt.
Which leads us to the curious reversal of roles in the present. The tie is practically impossible to clean when the gravy lands, but the white shirt gets tossed in the machine with nary a thought.

You don't hate the government enough. The Natioal Park Service (tax supported)- the jerks that put up barriers around DC statuary during Obama's shutdown- does not honor ANY of the park passes there. To quote:
"Mount Rushmore National Memorial does not charge an entrance fee. HOWEVER, a parking fee is required to park in the concession-operated parking facility".
The "parking facility was built by the government on government land and the major service provided by the cocessionaire is collecting the parking fee.
You know the Park Service (first thing, kill all the) lawyers figured this one out: "If we call it a Monument, we have honor the passes. Call it a Memorial and make it free, but charge the little people parking. What, WE can't charge for parking? OK, lease the parking lot to a concession who collects the money, then we get it from them.** evil laughter all around**"
