6 Up early, doctors appointment at 7:30...I bet I'm the first customer. Nothing else I guess happened over the weekend, not even any shot outs in the city.
Portland probably had their usual tear gas exposer, Antifa which is a bunch of rich kids just having fun. Trying to burn down Portland's government offices. I just wish ICE would just tear off their masks and see who they really are, but the city council protects them.

The R candidate for Governor was not there, but some man was who is trying to get out the R vote for a traditionally D country reported that they have flipped a number of people from D to R registration and that they have registered 3000 people as new R voters so far . This is a heavily Latino area. They do not like what Democrats are peddling. So some good news so far!

We knew then who was pardoned. This is further confirmation of the "autopen" and hence the pardons should be worthless and people need to be cuffed and tried.

I'm up, showered, and dressed comfortably for Wolfus's Big Surgery Adventure today. Linda's church friend will be here about six to drive us; we'll be at the shop for six-thirty. And then? We will see.

Thanks to all for the good wishes and prayers last night. I am . . . fortified. I'd be even more fortified if I could have some coffee. I poured some into a cup and will keep it in the fridge if I'm up to it later today; I do not want caffeine withdrawal headache on top of all this!

On a show a while back, Svengoolie interviewed the two voice actors. They actually look something like the roles they played! Maurice LaMarche, "Brain," is burly and heavy-set, while Rob Paulsen, "Pinky," is lean and lanky. Maurice is taller than Rob, though, unlike their characters.

Drove back north yesterday and then went to Cub Scout fishing event. gDaughter said it was so hot (it was, and humid) that she was going to die. I told her that in six months' time, she'd insist that it was so cold that she was going to die. I asked her how it felt to be eight years old and got "No different than being seven" for a response. Meanwhile, my son and gSon braved the heat and sun to small avail on the fishing front.

In their Svengoolie interview, they seemed to have a natural chemistry and to play off each other very easily. I wouldn't be surprised if they improvised a *lot* of stuff. Or it might have been in a actual line of an early script, and the routine struck fire with them.

48 Was it yesterday or today that is the first anniversary of Trump almost being shot/being spared by God? I know that happened on a Saturday. We were on the Pet Thread when the news broke, and Ace threw up an emergency post. So one year later (and not a leap year) would make it Sunday.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius,

You can get by just fine without air conditioning even in a heatwave. The effects of Puget Sound tend to cool things off in the evening. In all the years I lived in the Seattle area I never had air conditioning. Probably would today but it would be a luxury.

By comparison here in Las Cruces during the months when I'm not running AC my power bill runs me about $40.00 per month. During the AC months it costs about $95 per month on average for a 1,500 square foot home.

85 The cuts were supposed to mostly target middle managers, but an analysis found that just 8% of jobs cut had "manager" in the title, while technicians and engineers were heavily affected.

Sounds like a combination of automation and outsourcing.

Intel is also laying off ROC technicians, who remotely monitor and control fab tools, manage workflows, and detect issues. Their roles are being automated as part of a global move to cut manual oversight in chip production. It is reasonable to assume that something similar is happening in the U.S.

Interestingly, Intel is implementing a new approach to workforce reductions, allowing individual departments to decide how to meet financial goals rather than announcing large, centralized cuts. This decentralized process has led to ongoing job losses across the company, with marketing functions being outsourced to Accenture and the automotive division completely shut down.

"If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things - praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts - not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds." - C. S. Lewis

Many years ago a magazine had a feature, "America's House of Lords", profiling DC folks who screwed up in every job they held, yet always continued to rise in the media's estimation. Hillary Clinton would certainly be among them today.

121 I wonder what Bongino will pull today. If he resigns he's going on my squit list.

TBH, I love Bongino's replacement in Rush's timeslot. Vince is absolutely outstanding in his role.

Bongino has trashed his personal reputation so bad, people won't be able to withhold laughter anytime he starts talking about what Feds should do.

He should take his lovely wife and his multi-millions and enjoy what days the good LORD gave him.

122 "The reaction on Epstein should thus be startling to him. No one is buying it. No one is dropping it."

It cheesed me off as well, but here's a different take:

https://tinyurl.com/5n64wn79 (link goes to accordingtohoyt.com)

The salient bit is that the FBI under the Biden admin had ample time to mutate any evidence that was take from pedo island. If Epstein believed that he no longer had the hold he thought he had on various movers and shakers, then he might have killed himself.

If you're going to do the "I got shit on you" thing, you need to digitize and encrypt the proof, make it visible with vague indications of the content along with the public key(s) and currently signed checksums. The tricky bit is to find a way to have the private key available after you're dead but not before.
