Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | As Democrats Remain Silent on the Insurrectionary Assaults on Federal Agents, Senator Schmitt Proposes Increased Criminal Penalties![]() CNN and MSNBC continue to completely suppress any reporting on one of the Democrat-Media Party's terror cells that just shot up ICE agents. Even left-leaning Mediaite thinks this is notable. If you hadn't heard about it yet, you might just be a CNN or MSNBC viewer; neither network has devoted a single minute of airtime to covering the attack, though CNN managed to devote a sentence to it in an online story about another attack on immigration authorities. Should that not strike you as unusual, imagine this scenario: 11 members of a right-wing militia group open fire on an FBI field office on a major holiday, and a responding police officer is shot in the neck. You think that would have a cold chance in hell of escaping the attention of the likes of Joe Scarborough, Wolf Blitzer, Jen Psaki, Brian Stelter, Lawrence O'Donnell, and Dana Bash? This glaring omission is particularly notable given the two news organizations' relentlessly critical coverage of ICE and persistent warnings about right-wing extremism and violence. Searches for mentions of ICE on air may not turn up any coverage at all of the attempted murder of innocent law enforcement officers, but they do yield plenty of segments about other protests of the organization, MSNBC's Catherine Rampell ranting about its employees "potentially like beating people, and committing violence," and a CNN interview of a Latino man lamenting that his "own people" were being "arrested and harassed by the ICE agents." Nothing about bullets flying by heads, though. Just as illegal aliens tell lies about the oppression they're facing in their home countries to get the US to let them into the country, so too are the residents of Gator Gitmo now telling Sad Stories about mosquitoes and "food filled with maggots" to be released back into America. The "mosquitos are as big as elephants." "We're like rats in an experiment." "I don't know why they're doing this, if it's a form of torture." "They took the Bible I had and told me here, there is no right to religion." Obvious lies. Just spamming out whatever complaints sound like they might be of constitutional-level import, so that another Biden/Obama judge can issue a restraining order. Fuck you. If you don't like it, GO THE FUCK HOME.

Whig, a willowed response to your comment about your friend that was possibly denied a BYU professor job for asking to drink caffeine during his interview:
If you are employed by BYU, I think you have to live the BYU standards. Professors, coaches, everyone. BYU as a school banned caffeine/soda for decades, so of course it spread like a virus through the whole church culture that you could not drink caffeine at all, if you were a "good" mormon. It became an insufferable holier-than-thou thing, but there was no officially policy against soda, just black tea and coffee. The cynical side of me thinks BYU reversed this caffeine ban on campus when they realized all the money they were losing out on, not getting Pepsi or Coke on campus as an official sponsor. Those exclusive contracts with a soda brand for universities is a big deal! But I loved that it threw the holier- than-thous in a tizzy. How can they judge their fellow members now, if not by their caffeine consumption! I adore my church. But huge parts of the judgmental social culture within it, especially in insular Utah, bugs the crap out of me. Out of Utah, the culture is more chill. Every one of our illegal friends from Mexico & central america 100% understands they were breaking the law, they are not wanted here, and why they have to go home. Every single one of those in Alligator Alcatraz are there by choice. If they simply say, "I'd like to go home," waiving all hearings or protests, they will be walked out the gate, put on the next flight and sent home. Their real home. Posted by: Blonde Morticia at July 10, 2025 06:04 PM (UmB+t) I have no problem giving inmates full access to a library full of books or anything else to occupy their time in a somewhat productive way. Being locked up is hell on earth, the least we can do is give them an opportunity for some escapism and hopefully they read some books that open their minds a bit (particularly people in prison, not people in an ICE detention facility. Their minds can be opened when they get home) As a practical matter, it also keeps people occupied so they're less likely to be causing issues. I don’t think we can really blame Emma Lazarus for the liberties taken with the poem on the Statue of Liberty. She was a Jewish woman trying to aid refugees fleeing pogroms and anti semetism in Europe. The situation for people coming here ( as several people have noted was they needed a sponsor among other legal requirements. The government didnt want you to be deadbeat on society There was no idea that we should let anyone in who come over the border.

I agree with the sentiment above that murdering a cop and murdering a non-LEO citizen should both earn the same (massive) punishment.
However, I do want a severe increase in the penalty for "interfering with a federal officer in performing the arrest or transportation" of a suspected criminal. Normal citizens do not have that job. The ICE, CBP, and other federal LEOs do, and Antifa is dragging away perps, putting hands on officers (which could easily hold a knife on the second attempt), etc. THAT needs to be stopped with harsh sentences, or the only way the LEOs can function would be numerous baton strikes on the crowd - which the Democrat politicians would actually love! He also said he thinks alcohol is okay but only if you made it by hand the way Jesus would have. I don't know about most Mormons. "They took the Bible I had and told me here, there is no right to religion."
They took the Bible I had, that is my favorite one, because the criminals and gang bangers just happened to be picked up while engaged in their street preaching ministry. I can just hear the southern guards saying that: "Yall, I reckon in these parts their just ain't no reeeeligin" Chilling. Or chitlin. Posted by: Oldcat at July 10, 2025 06:29 PM (8avO+) 243

Intellectually, I know most Euros are sick and tired of their "guests". And I know most of them are nice folks you could have a beer and a nice chat with. But all you hear, or are allowed to hear, are the throne-sniffers, the anti-American journalists and bureaucrats, and the hard-left politicos.
Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at July 10, 2025 06:27 PM (HZi96) And you can imagine what they hear about when it comes to Americans! But yes. At least in Ireland and the UK, the Ukrainian guests seemed to have very much overstayed their welcomes. As, of course, have their Muslim friends. But if you're too loud about that, you get arrested. So people just seethe quietly. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at July 10, 2025 06:31 PM (uCjyK) 249

It's already a crime to interfere with ICE operations under a number of laws, though the ones involve harboring or concealing illegals have stiffer sentences than just garden variety interference.
What I don't like philosophically is further making LEOs into a higher caste, in which the mere act touching one gives them free rein to smash your face in and charge you with multiple felonies. Not OK with that at all. Posted by: You're cops not Chinese god-emperors at July 10, 2025 06:33 PM (TbWk/) 260
My Walmart+ review:
It's not really free shipping. It's free shipping plus a tip. Not like UPS. So it's actually 15% on shipping, unless you want to stiff the poor shlub who's just trying to get by. Posted by: You're cops not Chinese god-emperors at July 10, 2025 06:33 PM They are not a higher caste. When I see a skeevy perv approaching me or a family member, I can back away and buy time and evaluate their intentions and ask them to stop. (Failure to stop is a pretty clear signal about possible intentions.) A LEO can do none of those things if he has hands on a person even mildly resisting arrest. His choices are "stay on the X" and risk an assault, or "release the arrestee". Those are both bad outcomes for a free society. Posted by: Pillage Idiot at July 10, 2025 06:47 PM (HlyYF) 273
