Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies

A man walks into a bar, then goes to the bathroom. He comes out, goes to the bartender. He says, “You’ve got a great place, but my buddy was here last night, and he said you have golden urinals. Where are they?”

The bartender turns to the band and yells, “Frank, I’ve got a lead on the guy who ruined your sax!”

One evening after the honeymoon, Bob was working on his Harley in the garage. His new wife was standing there by the bench watching him.

After a long period of silence she finally said, "Honey, I've just been thinking, now that we're married, maybe it's time you quit spending so much of your time out here in the garage. You probably should consider selling your Harley and all that welding equipment; they take up so much of your time. And that gun collection and fishing gear, they just take up so much space. And you know that boat is such an ongoing expense and you hardly use it. I also think you should lose all those stupid model airplanes and your home brewing equipment. And what's the use of that vintage hot rod sports car?"

Bob got a horrified look on his face.

She noticed and said, "Darling, what's wrong?”

He replied, "You were starting to sound like my ex-wife.”

"Ex-wife!?" she shouted, "YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU WERE MARRIED BEFORE!”

Bob replied, "I wasn't..."

Club ONT Requests

Rev Wish 7-12.JPG

At the Club, the venom is on tap.

We can do pythons.

Danger Noodles. Floridians pay $25 (a bit more than in town) to participate in the annual python hunt. Let's hope the gators are busy patrolling Alligator Alcatraz.

For 10 glorious days (July 11-20 this year), registered participants can try to catch as many gigantic danger noodles as possible. The person who nabs the most snakes wins $10,000, which might cover your bug spray bill and therapy copay.

Dynamite. Which one of you did this? Definitely a Moron. Cannot quote the whole thing. Very worth the click and read.

"Sir, I pulled you over because I saw something shiny in your car. Did you have your phone in your hand and on?" an officer would ask another driver.

"Goodness no. I'm a law-abiding citizen and I know that's not legal. I was lighting up some unregulated explosives."

"I'm sorry, you did what now?"

"Yeah, I was trying to read this new book. It's something about driving dummies. Anyway, I thought I was lighting up a road flare to give me some light, but turns out that stuff I stole from the construction site was actually dynamite. And just between me you and the fencepost over there, FYI, I would totally avoid that bridge we just drove over if you go back the other way. Long fuse on that dynamite but it's definitely going to go off here in a second."

Club ONT Rocks Your World

The Club ONT dance floor has made the earth wobble and speed up! Or there may be other explanations:

Over the past two centuries, humans have quietly nudged the very axis of our planet. As thousands of dams have been built across the world, Earth's poles have tilted by over 1 meter (3 feet). The movement of Earth's poles can be traced to two great waves of dam construction: first in North America and Europe during the 19th and early 20th centuries, and then across Asia and East Africa in the latter half of the 20th century.

It's all to do with mass distribution and the planet's moment of inertia. Earth will happily spin like a basketball twirling on a fingertip, but if mass is suddenly added to one region, the rotation starts to wobble.

20250712-world.jpg

Faster, faster!

On July 9, 2025, Earth spun a little faster than usual, enough to make the day about 1.3 to 1.6 milliseconds shorter than the standard 24 hours.

That may not sound like much, but it was the shortest day since modern records began. It's not a one-off either. Scientists expect two more short days this summer, on July 22 and Aug. 5, all thanks, in part, to the moon.

Earth doesn't rotate at a perfectly constant speed. While we define a day as 24 hours, in reality, the length of a day can vary slightly from one day to the next due to both internal and external forces acting on the planet.

Over long timescales, Earth's rotation is actually gradually slowing down, largely because of tidal friction from the moon. The moon's gravity pulls on Earth's oceans, creating tidal bulges that act like a brake. This adds about 2 milliseconds to the length of a day every century.

But over shorter timescales, days to months, Earth's spin can actually speed up and that's what happened on July 9, and will also happen on July 22 and Aug. 5.

AI-Generated Band Gets Over 1Million Spotify Listeners in Just Two Weeks

AI-generated Psych-rock band The Velvet Sundown didn’t exist two weeks ago, but today they boast over half a million listeners on Spotify and are getting to put out their third album.

The Velvet Sundown is either the hardest-working and most inspired rock group ever, or they are simply playing by different rules. The psych-rock band appeared out of nowhere two weeks ago, but managed to put out to albums and has already announced that the third will be released on Spotify soon. They already boast a respectable 500,000 monthly listeners on the popular music streaming platform and show no signs of slowing down. But the overnight success and record-breaking album release schedule drew attention to the band this week, with many accusing The Velvet Sundown of being an AI-generated gimmick. And, truth be told, all the signs point to that being the case.

Club ONT is 100% opposite of an AI experience. We prefer natural stupidity.

IERS, the International Earth Rotation and Reference System, is the one tasked with tracking the rotation and orientation of the earth down to quite amazing precision. This is critical for navigation and celestial positioning. The GPS system must know these very precisely in order to pinpoint a receiver's location on the rotating geoid.

50 I can see why dam building might shift the moment of inertia of the Earth without significantly slowing the rate of rotation: mass was concentrated in various sites but not raised to any degree from the axis of rotation, assuming nearby sourcing of materials. Evidently the Earth’s spin rate went up ever so slightly!

Every day, IERS puts out their daily solution files, Bulletin A, I think they call it. The USNO mirrors that output here:
https://tinyurl.com/ywypes2a

The "finals2000A.daily" is the main one of interest. These files are in Fortran formatted I/O format, and the readme files there explain the column format.

Of interest to me there primarily is the daily DUT1 and LOD (length of day) values. The LOD is the excessive length of day, expressed in ms. Negative values means one complete mean solar day was faster. The past three days, 7/8 - 7/10 have been better than 1.3 ms faster than 24 hours (of atomic time).

82 NYPost: Rock band with more than 1 million Spotify listeners reveals it’s entirely AI-generated — down to the musicians themselves

The ’60s-inspired rock-and-roll band, the Velvet Sundown, revealed on Saturday that nothing about it is real after fans of the up-and-coming artists noticed there were virtually no traces of any people associated with it online.

Its debut album, “Floating on Echoes,” was released on June 5 to mass appeal online.

The most popular song in the album, pro-peace folk rock song “Dust on the Wind,” clinched the No. 1 spot for Spotify’s daily “Viral 50” chart in Britain, Norway and Sweden between June 29 and July 1.

I hated the Snyder version of the character so I am just happy to have a new movie that I enjoyed. I think it actually hurts MAGA to frame the movie as woke because it has an immigration theme, as that makes it sound like MAGA hates immigrants period, rather than just wanting the border controlled and illegal criminal aliens removed.

125 JackStraw -

It’s only that we’re measuring time to great precision: with GPS an error of a few nanoseconds is enough to throw you off by a few feet since EM waves travel at the speed of light (EM waves - radio - is the same as light, just at a much slower frequency) so:

L= c Δt = (3.00 x 10^8 m/s)(1.00 x 10^-9 s)
= 0.300 m = 30.0 cm,

or about a foot. So a millisecond error is a million time greater! Sorry for the math in an ONT!

I am guessing that there was a lot of unverified speculation about the Epstein list. It probably contains lots of individuals with no actual proof of any wrong doing. There are probably a handful of true, gross perverts on there including Prince Whats-his-face. Epstein was a professional extortion artist. He probably needed to schmooze 1000s of people to get 20 idiots to bite, so his list probably contains more innocent people than guilty ones.

You also need to collect more evidence than just being on a list. I watch a lot of true crime stuff (like "The First 48", good show, check it out) and the investigators often know very early on who committed the murder, but it takes way longer than that to build a rock solid case to present in front of jury of idiots who can be swayed by stupid catch phrases like "if the glove does not fit, you must acquit"

I know Gunn’s history and if that turns you off I completely understand. But Gunn (on the interview rounds for this movie) is not making provocative statements that are offensive to MAGA—that is just the angle that some reports are taking.

The history of all this as it relates to timekeeping is interesting. Up until the early 20th Century, the earth itself was the most accurate clock we had, much better than even the best mechanical chronometers made. A very accurate thing dubbed a master-slave vacuum pendulum clock was pretty good and used for precise astronomical timing. Eddington used one of these for he famous eclipse observations testing gravitational light bending against the then new General Relativity theory.

It wasn't until atomic clocks came on the scene that the variation of earth's rotation could be measured to high precision.

By the late 1800's they began to suspect the earth's rotation wasn't uniform, and wiggled around. Long term tidal slowing was known, but the daily wig woggles were suspected. Atomic clocks confirmed this to high precision.

The thing about the flight logs that got me was the plane was used for more than just trips to Pedo Island. Two names that stuck out to me on the plane's flight logs that I read, being a football fan, was Arsenal's manager, Mikael Arteta, and a former Chelsea player, Callum Hudson-Odoi. They were on some charity trip to Africa on that plane. The plane could go to many legitimate places for many legitimate reasons carrying as passengers completely legitimate people.

So I'm not looking for just names on the flight logs, I'm looking for criminal activity tied to those names. That means arrests not tv sound-bite interviews.

213 I had a friend ask if it was possible to can cherries in jello. I have no idea if it is possible, so I mixed gelatin, pectin and sugar for cherries, to see what happened when I waterbath can them

I suspect it isn't going to do any good, so I will probably make a second attempt with twice as much pectin and gelatin.

The physical changes that pectin and gelatin undergo while making gel is very interesting. Pectin is reliant on pH and the sugar helps displace water which makes the pectin gel runny. Part of the "soft ball" stage appears to be driving off enough water from the mix, and the water content change while boiling changes the boiling point up.
Gelatin is actually sensitive to heat, and I may have to do a modified water bath treatment, like a sous vide set up, to get the temperature high enough to kill bacteria but low enough to allow the gelling to happen.

I like food chemistry. I wish I had gotten into it more back when I thought I could cook. I would have been a better cook!

Dollars to donuts, the muzzies bought them as "halal" knowing full well they were pork, but could deceive allah because they bore the halal label. allah is easily tricked, you know.

A credible way to punt on the situation would be to say "We don't have enough evidence to bring any further charges". No one would be particularly surprised that any useful evidence got disappeared before Trump's people could publish it.

Unfortunately Bondi made sweeping statements about the magnitude of what she had, and now wants to toe the Deep State line that there is nothing there and was never anything there, and for whatever reason, Trump's backing her.

That's a black mark on both of them. And if we see Bongino leave over this, that act, regardless of what he can or can't further say, is confirmation that there is much more there there than the Trump regime is telling us. It would mean that Trump is lying to us, whatever else he may be doing that coincides with our interests.

Here's what the earth's rotation has been doing since 1962, when the atomic clock system was put into place (TIA):

https://tinyurl.com/hk6sxps5

Note the rapid day to day variation, shown by the spiky gray lines, vs the moving 365 day average shown by the green curve. Now, the grey line would correlate with UT1 time scale, while the green one would be tracking UT2, a smoothed time scale that used to be used for "UT"/GMT-equivalent.

You can see the trend has been speeding up over the last 60 years.

My unpopular take on the Epstein debacle: the names will never be released as they would likely cause economic collapse if not outright war (I'm sure Chinese diplomats are just as pervy as any others). Even if they were released, none of them would face justice, they'd either go full diplomatic immunity or spend a few million on lawyers to drag it out forever. They can't un-screw those kids, and the victims have no path to compensation. It's a vicious, evil soul-consuming clusterfuck.

That said, we have the information. When we brought the Paperclip and Unit 731 guys here after WWII, we didn't tell them to burn their research first. We used it. And, since this exists, we can use it as well.

245 Epstein was an intel Kompromat op against western and anglosphere politicians, scientists and tech leaders, those were the people on the flights, in his black book and on the tapes.

The reason why it's being covered up is because the controlling authorities do not want to let the world know that everyone is being blackmailed in some form or fashion.

And this is the last time I'm going to talk about Epstein because, in the final analysis, and in the main, no one cares.

It's possible to go back well before 1962, although it will not be as precise as the atomic clock data: Scroll down this page and you'll see a LOD graph going back to 1830:
https://tinyurl.com/yah2me49

Where does that come from? By the early 1800s, astronomical observations were getting precise enough to see wig-woggle in the earth's rotation, and thus, over time relative to earth rotation based time.

You can see the earth was spinning pretty fast around 1870, an even bigger acceleration hiccup that now. About 3 ms less than 24 hours. But, by the early 1900s, it had slowed down, touching 4 ms longer than 24 hours.

But, if you plot a linear trend line over those 200 years, you'll see that the LOD is getting longer, and that agrees very closely with the calculated long term tidal slowing.

Move to one of the poles, then gravity will remain more constant as the earth's rotation slows down.

Though it'll still drop as the rotation-driven equatorial bulge subsides. That'll move the equator closer to the core, and the poles further away, so gravity will be more equal between them.

From Coast to Coast AM:

Seasoned private investigator Nils Grevillius joined guest host Richard Syrett to discuss high-profile criminal cases, mainly the Jeffrey Epstein. Regarding Jeffrey Epstein, Grevillius provided an alternative perspective on the convicted sex offender's operations, suggesting that Epstein was merely a front for a larger intelligence scheme. He posed a provocative question: "What if Ghislaine Maxwell was running an operation for MI6? What if the CIA bought shares in it?" He speculated that these intelligence agencies used Epstein's network as "a honey trap" to gather compromising material on powerful figures. Grevillius also expressed skepticism about the DOJ and FBI's conclusions regarding Epstein's death, criticizing the handling of evidence.

Homan announced the other day they have found 10,000 so far. They found a bunch at the weed frm in CA the other day. That leaves only 290,000 to go. I've yet to see the same outrage over these children and there are a shitload more of them.

The obsession over Epstein when it is well know and has been for years he was a protected asset of the CIA and likely also worked with some of the intel agencies or our "allies" while completely ignoring when tried to murder our POTUS, twice, is bizarre.

Many people are relieved at the attention focused on Epstein.
Bondi, closed the case against Pfizer. How many people did Epstein kill? How many people did Pfizer kill?
That's just one of a multitude of heinous things across the board.

Andrew went to Epstein's island and boinked Virginia Giuffre, who may have been underage at the time, hence "jailbait". She even went to London with him; it's not like he was strenuously hiding the affair. And she might have been "legal" in London, not certain. So he was a horndog banging an underage (depending upon date and jurisdiction) hooker. Not really a pedo. I'd say Bill Clinton's dalliance with Monica Lewinsky was on about the same level of dumbassery.

The long term, geological time scale variation of the earth's mean solar day is also interesting. As mentioned, the main driver of slowing the earth's rotation is the tidal friction of the the Moon, pulling up tidal bulges. To conserve angular momentum, as the earth slows, the Moon must recede. A fraction of the earth's rotational kinetic energy goes to increasing the Moon's orbital energy. The balance goes to heat.

So, as the Moon slows the earth down, the equal and opposite reaction throws the Moon into a higher orbit. This process goes roughly as 1/r^6, where r is the Moon's mean orbital radius. Think of it as tidal field (inverse cube) squared.

When you naively plug that it, you find over the 4.5 billion years since the Moon formed, it should be farther away. It would take "only" 1.7 billion years or so for the Moon to be thrown from the Roche limit of the earth to the current distance.

There are other complex factors involved, and it was sort of ongoing question. It was solved around 2023.

If it did, the current day would be about 60 hours long, and the Moon would be much farther away. What happened? A very complex dance of regular tides, and a solar atmospheric tide that got in resonance at a rough 20 hour day.

344 >> Is that heat the source of the heat in the Earth's core, or is that more from radioactive decay of heavy elements in the core?

According the Grok, the tidal heating is very small in the total heat budget. The earth's internal heat fraction is about 47TW. The source of that is the heat of formation and radioactive decay. The tidal heating is about 3.7TW.

The brunt of that is dissipated into the oceans, with the remainder inside the earth. Most of this friction is with the ocean. The internal solid deformation is much smaller. So, the brunt of tidal heating is a surface thing.

For some mindboggling numbers, earth's total heat input, insolation (less what is reflected) + internal heat dissipation to the surface is 121 PW, 121,000 TW.

Words mean things and you used the word "win". I think it should be reserved for victory, a state in which the enemy is vanquished. If you want to use it for like a game of tennis, I suppose you can, but I don't really care until the match is done.

I am not excited about a budget surplus unless it is going to be used to pay down the debt, and that can be celebrated once it is entirely gone. Nothing has been done which would prevent the mullahs from getting nukes. They've been set back and it will be their sons who have the next shot at it, but they are still there and are going to try again when they have an opportunity.

As to the rest, I have a hard time celebrating tens of thousands of invaders being shown the door, when Trump sounds like he's looking for an excuse to let tens of millions stay.

You aren't wrong.
The TH350 would be temporary until the 700r4.
I would rather have a 2004r, but they seem hard to find in an affordable non-rebuilt state.

355 >> And would adding a largish moon to Mars and/or Venus help in any way to terraform those planets?

That I do not know much about. Venus is rotating too damn slow, and backwards. A solar day on Venus works about to be about 116 earth days, about half of the Venusian year. And the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. You can work out that with it's retrograde rotation vs the sidereal year.

This is a big problem for earth-like conditions. However, I remember some interesting stuff. First, imagine we somehow blow away that thick atmosphere and replace it with an earth atmosphere. Now, we ask what balance of water vapor, vs total pressure would be good, and how would the climate respond. We need surface water to drive a cycle, O2, and all that.

I remember a long session with Grok about this, and I'll try to find it. This was in relation to some possible exoplanet climates.

You are clearly trying to change the topic to anything other than what is apparently Trump's decision to protect Epstein's clients and his handlers from further public scrutiny.

You say that maybe he knows more, but I can make the same 8 dimensional chess argument by claiming that obviously he knows his position is completely unacceptable and designed to bring more attention to the topic as it is doing this weekend.

For whatever reason.

Now, Mars. First we need to add atmosphere there, and then we need to get a magnetic field kick started. This is a problem.

And Venus doesn't have intrinsic field either. But the think atmosphere has an induced field due to the solar wind. This would also be a problem if we blew away the thick atmosphere for an earth-like one.

The 200-4R is a fairly close-ratio box, with low gear closer to second than the 700R4, and an overdrive that's not so tall. (IIRC) I have an Avanti that has had a McKinnon 283 transplanted into it (same as Chevy 283, but built at the McKinnon engine plant in Ontario, and sold to Studebaker to be used in '65 and '66 cars). It currently runs a TH350, which has a bad converter drain-back problem. Otherwise it drives fine. And the car has the wrong rear axle in it, a Dana 27, which is mos' too light, as the song goes. I have a rebuilt 700R4 on the floor of the shop, and also a proper Dana 44 rear axle for the Avanti, with the sway bar and traction bar brackets on it. And it's a 3.73 ratio, which should work fine.

It's the discussion you are having.

You pretend you are all about children but only the ones you want to talk about.

What happened to Epstein's victims year ago was tragic. Nothing is going to change it. Not even you.

There were about 100 of them that our government allowed to be abused. In the prior 4 years, Biden allowed 300,000 children to be abused and rescuing as many of them seems to be Trump's focus.

He's never ignored Epstein. When Epstein was arrested in Florida years ago Trump was one of the only people to come forward to testify against him. Look it up. I trust Kash, he says Epstein killed himself despite the conspiracy theories. Is he lying too?

What exactly do you think you are going to learn about Epstein? That he was CIA? That he also worked for foreign governments? That he was a pervert and Bill Clinton, the guy Epstein had a painting of in a blue dress in his home, was a visitor? We know all that.

He disproved this woman's accusations with actual receipts and plane tickets and so on. None of it held up and ultimately, not surprisingly, she withdrew her suit against him and confessed she may have confused him with someone else, which is the best you're going to get as a guy who gets accused in these cases falsely.

Apparently, This was being used to demonstrate to the parents how great everything was at this school. Until the kids started getting sick.

Eventually the parents started figuring out the school was killing their kids with lead poisoning. Being Chicom land, the authorities couldn't have a scandal so they tried to cover it up by forcing a local hospital to issue fake test results when parents brought their kids to be checked for lead poisoning.

I do have to say the food in the brochures was rather colorful.

Sperry may be taking an extra, unnecessary step there. The Muslim Brotherhood is Sunni, while Mamdani would be Shi'i. Those two are traditionally as hostile to each other as each is to Jews. 'Soros has thrown in his lot with Mamdani' is where I'd cut off the paper trail. It's bad enough.

I don't think it's blackmail at all. It's about removing pieces.

Epstein was a scumbag from previous administrations. There is no excusing what he did or more importantly what our government either sanctioned or allowed him to do.

Its the "our guy / their guy" mentality. You are seeing it on full display right now. "Our guy" can't be embarrassed, you see, so sometimes certain things must be left unsaid. For the greater good, if you will.

But now "their guy" ? Oh - there is no end to what damage he could cause, so of course nothing is off the table to stop that bastard.

However I don't think it is a catastrophic end to Trump, there is too much we don't know that he does know. And I trust Trump to prioritize because if he couldn't do that, he wouldn't have won three elections after coming out of nowhere and having the entire world, his own party, and the so-called intelligence community aligned so squarely against him.

I propose it's baseline, and that Bondi Has Electrolytes serves a different master. It will come out in the wash. Some would argue it already has.

As shown in Trump I, AG is the most important position, and although I will say so far she is better than Sessions and Barr, she is not who I want in there by a longshot.

One of the reasons we don't win more is that we have far too many on our side who seem to forget we are fighting back against an entrenched and powereful estabalishment that has run the world for decades. And when people come to fight for us we savage them if they don't do exactly what we want.

449 Here's the rub: grok, what immigration cases has pam bondi won?
----
https://tinyurl.com/3bru47k5

There is limited publicly available information specifying individual immigration cases that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has personally won, as her role primarily involves overseeing the Department of Justice (DOJ) rather than directly litigating cases. However, based on available data, Bondi has been involved in several high-profile immigration-related legal actions since her confirmation as Attorney General on February 4, 2025. Below is a summary of notable immigration-related cases or actions associated with her tenure, focusing on outcomes where possible:

Lawsuit Against New York (Green Light Law. Outcome: As of the latest reports, this is a civil lawsuit, and no final ruling

Lawsuit Against Illinois (TRUST Act. Outcome: No specific outcome is reported

Riley v. Bondi (Supreme Court Case, Decided June 26, 2025)
Case Details: This case involved a challenge to the timing rules for appealing immigration removal orders. Outcome: The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of Riley,
etc., etc.

450 cont

Summary
Pam Bondi, as U.S. Attorney General, has been actively involved in immigration-related litigation, primarily targeting state and local policies that the DOJ claims interfere with federal immigration enforcement. However, there are no confirmed case wins in the provided data. The Riley v. Bondi case resulted in a loss for the DOJ, and other lawsuits (e.g., against New York, Illinois, and Maryland) are ongoing without reported resolutions. Bondi’s actions reflect a broader Trump administration agenda to prioritize immigration enforcement, often focusing on “sanctuary” jurisdictions and high-profile deportation cases, but specific victories in court are not documented as of July 13, 2025.

Trump can handle my criticism of his underlings. He's a big boy and gets much worse from even his own supposed side every day. You could say I'm just keeping us honest, but to me it's not about that. I call it like I see it because I rarely see it wrong.

You already insinuated I was lying when I said this once but - I was on the Trump Train and getting a giant raft of shit from here from "trusted regulars" well before you my leafy pal. You couldn't even tell people here that he *liked America* without being laughed at and accused of fronting for Hillary. And this is long after some should have known better.

As such I get to criticize him and any less than worthy hires and it's really no skin off anyone's back. He's only one man and as much as I'd like to see him burn it all down, I suggest that even you would recoil from what that would look like. The moment Trump starts making those noises our side quivers because of "the rules". Go figure.

Heading north this AM. Spent yesterday installing whip mounts at our boat slip. Lost a drill bit under the walkway in the process. Hot and miserable work it was.

The remainder of the day was spent moving the boundary timbers in our largest garden bed to cut its square footage by about one third, which already was mostly grass anyway. I'll borrow our neighbor's mower before we leave to cut the newly reclassified lawn area so the guy who does our lawn will know its good to go for him, also. This, too, was hot and miserable work.

All that said, it was no wonder that I fell asleep in the chair for going on nearly three hours this evening.

As others have pointed out at times, I have the easier side on this one - betting on people to be corrupt or to betray is very often a mortal lock.

The best you can hope for is that Bondi represents the best of what can be done by an earnest man given Congress, etc. I find that difficult to believe but not impossible.
