BREAKING: Three federal & TX law enforcement sources tell me an active shooter with a rifle & tactical gear ambushed Border Patrol agents as they arrived at a Border Patrol annex facility in McAllen, TX this morning. Local police and federal agents returned fire, killing him. I'm told this was a purposeful ambush/attack against federal agents and a press conference is planned for later this morning. No federal agents injured. Im told a McAllen police officer may have been shot, but is in stable condition.

The would-be mass murderer was only doing what his fellow Democrats demanded he do.

At town halls in their districts and in one-on-one meetings with constituents and activists, Democratic members of Congress are facing a growing thrum of demands to break the rules, fight dirty -- and not be afraid to get hurt.
Why it matters: House Democrats told Axios they see a growing anger among their base that has, in some cases, morphed into a disregard for American institutions, political traditions and even the rule of law.
"This idea that we're going to save every norm and that we're not going to play [Republicans'] game ... I don't think that's resonating with voters anymore," said one House Democrat.
Another told Axios that a "sense of fear and despair and anger" among voters "puts us in a different position where ... we can't keep following norms of decorum."
Axios spoke to more than two dozen House Democrats for this story, with many requesting anonymity to offer candid insights about their interactions with constituents and activists.
Zoom out: For months, Democratic lawmakers have fumed that their base's demands to "fight harder" misunderstand the lack of legislative and investigative power afforded to the minority party in Congress.

What we're hearing: The grassroots wants more. "Some of them have suggested ... what we really need to do is be willing to get shot" when visiting ICE facilities or federal agencies, a third House Democrat told Axios.
"Our own base is telling us that what we're doing is not good enough ... [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public," the lawmaker said.
A fourth House Democrat said constituents have told them "civility isn't working" and to prepare for "violence ... to fight to protect our democracy."
A fifth House Democrat told Axios that "people online have sent me crazy s*** ... told me to storm the White House and stuff like that," though they added that "there's always people on the internet saying crazy stuff."
Between the lines: While other Democratic lawmakers said their discussions haven't gone that far, nearly every one who spoke to Axios cited examples of voters' panic and fury fueling demands to adopt brute force tactics.
A sixth House Democrat said that when they try to persuade voters to channel their frustration into a focus on winning back Congress in 2026, "people who are angry don't accept that. They're angry beyond things."
"It's like ... the Roman coliseum. People just want more and more of this spectacle," said a seventh lawmaker.

Who's calling for violence?

No shock -- it's the AWFLs and Karens, who assume that because of their sex and money they will never be held accountable for their incitement of violence, and never be on the receiving end of retallitatory violence themselves.

Zoom in: Many lawmakers said these voters tend to be white, well-educated and live in upscale suburban or urban neighborhoods.
"What I have seen is a demand that we get ourselves arrested intentionally or allow ourselves to be victims of violence, and ... a lot of times that's coming from economically very secure white people," said an eighth House Democrat.

The bottom line: "The expectations aren't just unreal. They're dangerous," the eighth House Democrat said.
A ninth lawmaker told Axios: "I actually said in a meeting, 'When they light a fire, my thought is to grab an extinguisher,'" a ninth House Democrat told Axios.

The Democratic Party has nurtured and encouraged this violence against law enforcement and federal officers.

This notion that lawns will grow wild without illegals is so fucking absurd. It’s a uniquely California thing, where somehow cutting your own grass is unheard of. In most of the country it’s just kinda what people do.

Sure there are lawn companies everywhere. But as a percent of lawns cut, I’d say the ratio is like 80:20 between doing it yourself and hiring someone for the country as a whole.

You can't "reform" the healthcare system, and it is a system, unless you tear out the third party payer industry root and branch, both public and private, and start over completely. This will never happen absent some kind of complete social upheaval because too many vested interests make billions off it. But that's the only possible way it can be fixed. Part of the issue is that rural communities in prime agricultural areas have thin labor pools which illegals have filled and that is generally better addressed gradually. Urban or suburbanites are reluctant about going to go to jobs in these places and even if they were willing, housing, etc. is simply not really there for them. The longer run is to increase robots in stoop labor, etc. and decrease the need for human labor. Cities and suburban areas in restaurants, delivery, yard work, etc. are more easily replaced by native workers due to deeper labor markets.

Food processing is usually in the middle ground, located in smaller towns but the processors hire illegals or refugees at low wages while pawning the societal costs onto the local community. These can be replaced in many areas by rural workers around those market towns along with those who reside there.

This is not exactly true, mechanization is only useful for certain crops - blueberry and grapes are easier to pick by machine than pears and apples, if you want them for table.
In grape and blueberries, locally, the growers moved from pickers to machine when the price of labor went so high, specifically when the state declared that Ag workers had to earn minimum wage at least per hour. At that price machinery was worth buying. However it also meant that smaller growers were forced out of the market because the costs got so high, and ALSO because smaller fields aren't worth working with machines.
So, the rise in labor both put the workers out of jobs and forced the smaller growers out of the industry in favor of the largest growers who aren't often family farms.

There are no winners here, except for the multinationals and government, who always seem to win. Odd that.

Came from the German Stg 44 (Sturmgewehr) and copied by the Soviets into their SKS and later AK-47. Intermediate power cartridge, lighter recoil, and lighter ammo so as to replace submachine guns. Allows volume of fire with less recoil to suppress and overwhelm defenses.

US (and reluctantly NATO) stuck to battle rifles until the M-16 came along that used a heavier cartridge, more penetration, more recoil, and longer range. Standoff capability and being able to penetrate enemy cover is what is important. Volume of fire is reserved for machine guns.

I'm not sure that's true for all vegetables, but I agree the easy and risk-free availability of dirt-cheap, very compliant labor has distorted not only the market for legal labor, but automation as well.

In many areas with a steady supply of illegals, operations that are usually automated are still done by hand because it's cheaper. Like car washes. Many car washes in poor areas of blue cities are cleaned by illegals. The car goes through on belts as per usual -- or sometimes pushed through manually -- but there are no machines washing the car. That's done manually.

The proper way to reload a SMLE or its later brethren Lee Enfields is NOT to detach the magazine but to load it from the top via stripper clips.

Surplus Garand ammo came preloaded in clips straight from teh spam can. And even 5.56x45 NATO ammo used to come on stripper clips which make it quick to reload a thirty round magazine. Does require a spoon as a stripper clip guide to fit the magazine which a lot of yutes simply do not know what to do with.

That is true even within countries or even cities. I regularly drive from one of the most affluent neighborhoods in NYC to one of the poorest. They are only a few miles apart. The difference as you go from one to the other is very stark. Every single kind of dysfunction increases proportionally the closer you get to the poor area. Then when you get there, you can't believe it's in the same state as the nice area, let alone only a few miles away in the same city.

Actually it would be stupid for most non-conglomerate farmers to invest in harvesting machines. They already have most of their money in the land and crops, as they are specialists in GROWING crops. They contract harvesting with dedicated harvesting companies, those companies invest in harvesting machinery, and then they schedule harvests with the farmers one after another. That works quite well with some types of crops, not as much as with others. For the other types of crops that need a human hand to harvest correctly, the farmers contract with labor brokers.
