The Morning Report — 7/7 /25

MuskGrate.jpg

Good morning kids, Of course the big story is the massive flooding in Texas that so far has claimed the lives of some 70 people, including 5 children from a Christian summer camp, and with search and rescue operations still ongoing, the death toll is likely to rise.

For all of you and your loved ones who are affected by this catastrophe, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours that you may stay safe and that relief and recovery are swift.

President Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem are expected to be on the ground in Texas and more importantly moving resources into the area to aid in recovery and disaster amelioration efforts. Competency and actually giving a damn are indeed a refreshing change from Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants Biden and his handlers. Of course, when disaster struck Red states during their junta's reign, it was more cruelty and retribution than incompetency that made the disasters even worse for the victims.

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, Texas, as the state reels from deadly flooding that has killed dozens and left more missing. . . According to Trump, Coast Guard officials and Texas first responders have rescued over 850 people as of Sunday. At least 67 people have died in the floods across Texas, including 59 in Kerr County, according to local officials. Particularly hard-hit was Camp Mystic, a Christian summer retreat for girls near the Guadalupe River, where 11 children and one counselor remain missing, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said during a press briefing.

Of course, the response from the anti-American left is about what you'd expect:

When tragedy strikes, you can always count on the left to weaponize heartbreak for political gain. . . Instead of mourning the dead or supporting the heroic first responders—who have already rescued more than 850 people from the floodwaters—leftists are spinning a narrative that blames Trump-era budget decisions for the devastation. . . It’s not enough for them to politicize a tragedy—they have to lie about it, too. As the search for survivors continues, liberal pundits and blue-check Twitter warriors are busy “concern trolling” Texans, suggesting that “this is what happens when you cut too much government.” Some have even gone so far as to imply that red states somehow deserve this fate, as if the weather itself is a tool of cosmic justice for voting the wrong way. The sheer callousness is staggering.

Meh, these are the same twisted reptilian ghouls who cheered on the Islamic hordes from Gaza raping and butchering Israelis if not joining in here at home by verbally and physically assaulting Jews on college campuses and elsewhere.

It's why even I, as an ex New Yorker despite having mixed feelings about what my hometown is in for should the absolutely man-caused disaster of Zohran Momdani and his acolytes take control. NYC didn't and should not have to have been doomed to suffer what is about to hit it, and yet. . .

The city is dying, and we should let it. Progressives are all in favor of assisted suicide, we should join them in the case of New York and help the city kill itself. Only a complete embrace of socialist/fascist/communist policies (and there isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between the three) will ween those people off their addiction to seeking government to solve their problems/improve their lives. Let it die, and let them choke on whatever damage and harm to people it does along the way.

Some people can learn from history, other are too dumb to heed those lessons and avoid the pitfalls of the past. New York falls into the latter, so let them swallow the whole bottle of their own medicine. I can’t bring myself to care.

Republicans in Washington should do everything to make sure that all the socialist policies New York currently has, and the ones in waiting to be imposed, have the maximum impact on the people who voted for their worthless politicians.

As I attempted to articulate, I totally get this sentiment and I even agree with it. Good and hard as the saying goes. But, I still have elderly relatives and some sane friends who simply cannot pack up and leave for a host of reasons and so are trapped. Yes, it's easy to to tell NYC and every other blue shit hole to go to hell. But, unless and until an actual civil war or other political dissolution of the bonds that tie us together comes about, if it and all the other blue states go down, we may very well be sucked down in the vortex as well.

So there's that and then there is the sheer insanity/stupidity/folly or whatever of Elon Musk forming a political party that will only, if it does gain any traction, merely siphon off votes from the Trump base and Trump averse GOP electorate thereby handing the country over to the Democrats for the midterms, 2028 and quite possibly well into the future.

This at the very moment when the Democrat Party is tearing itself apart as it struggles to contain the erupting insanity of the Momdani/Titty-Caca/Bernie Sanders and other bust-out wackadoo maniacs from gaining control from the more effective closeted communists and criminals who control the Party.

President Trump in just the past 6 months has been wildly successful domestically and internationally, with his most successful accomplishment being exposing the Democrats as well as the traitors allegedly on our side in the GOP for who and what they are.
As CBD and I lamented on the latest episode of the podcast in reference to the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill, all it is is the furtherance of the multi-trillion dollar ongoing grift that makes politicians on both sides of the aisle part and parcel of the same hypocrisy.

The irony of course is that the BBB, at least in our early estimation will expose this, but as erudite commenter and friend Dave in Florida pointed out to me (and which i included in the editorial last Friday) there are actually some very good things in the bill, so I look forward to having my reservations about it proven to be wrong.

President Trump in just the past 6 months has been wildly successful domestically and internationally, with his most successful accomplishment being exposing the Democrats as well as the traitors allegedly on our side in the GOP for who and what they are.

Whether the BBB stinks on ice or is indeed a major Trump masterstroke, Musk is violating Napoleon's ironclad principle of when your enemy is making a mistake, let them continue without interference. Jealousy, treachery, duplicitousness? What a scumbag, or am I missing something here? Instead of a third party pipe dream, it should be all hands on deck to wrest control of the GOP.

Elsewhere, has it really been 20 years since the Islamic terror attack on London?

How time flies when westerners have their heads up their ass...

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

Have a great day!

This event marked one of five unauthorized incursions into the restricted airspace on the day.The civilian aircraft entered the restricted zone at about 2:39 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. To capture the pilot’s attention, NORAD aircraft executed a headbutt maneuver and safely escorted the aircraft out of the area.

Nothing did more to destroy the integrity and popularity of the Roman Catholic faith than this disastrous conclave, and nothing could be more timely or encouraging than a restoration of the liturgy by the Chicago White Sox fan, Pope Bob; it just might take an American to clean out the Augean Stables of the Eternal City.

9 Thank you for the early morning report, JJ.

I’m not entirely with the “good and hard” sentiment anymore. A great country should have great cities… great like NYC, LA and Chicago used to be. The 90s aren’t that long ago really and that was the era of Giuliani in NYC.

Good and hard implies the vote was fair; I do believe these big city votes are rigged by the corrupt Dem machines there

As for Musk (sigh)… how can someone so smart be THAT stupid and naive?? I predict his new party will be a complete bust. He’s been so politically erratic over the last year or two he’s lost all credibility everywhere. Get off the bong, Elon

12 NYC tried to stay out of the War of Northern Aggression until Lincoln's barbarians shelled it.

It is highly doubtful such an energetic and interesting and genuninely great city as NYC actually voted for this Mandrani. No, the vote was rigged.

But, the fact is if you try to rescue them, the Lefties will use this as a chance for you to waste your time as they have the place locked down. Effort and concern by the Right will probably make NYC suffer more as the Left will derive enjoyment from seeing the Right's compassion and sadness.

14 There is only one way to stop these attempts by pro-Palestinians to terrorize university regents and other officials into adopting anti-Israel policies. These brownshirts need to be caught, and given sentences measured not in months but in years of prison time. That will do much to curb the enthusiasm of these baby-faced terrorists.

41 the sheer insanity/stupidity/folly or whatever of Elon Musk forming a political party

I honestly don't understand the sheer stupidity and gullibility of people in the former United States that will crawl over broken glass to vote for foreigners to control their lives.

In my tech career, I have come across many H1B foreigners who wanted to be US citizens so that they can vote or be elected to usher in Communism. They suck up the oxygen wildly proclaiming why America is horrible and can only be cured by full-on Marxism.

What pisses me off is that people who just got off the boat, got their citizenship, never grew up as a kid experiencing what America has to offer, rather as mature adults automatically run for office so they can form the US into the image of what they fled or what their delusional visions dictate.

And we celebrate that, and confirm it by voting for people who clearly hate America and came here to destroy it from within.

74 I'm pretty sure the whole cloud seeding, chemtrails thing had been debunked.

Cloudseeding is a thing. Saudi Arabia has been doing it, and the former United States did it for years.

Chemtrails is a different thing. I love how so many podcasters breathlessly terrorize their listening audiences with all the details of these chemtrails except:
• the actual chemicals
• the manufacturer of the chemicals
• the organization creating the chemtrails
• identifying the actual aircraft involved
• funding sources of chemtrails

All of these things would be a snap to do, starting with using Flight Aware to get the N-number of the plain deploying the chemicals and then following through.

Musk did the LORD's work in DOGE. He also has made a lot of people multi-millionaires and has increased the prestige of the US in automobiles and space flight. The takeover and turn-around of X is suitable enough to put him in the history books as a defender of Freedom.

He is deeply concerned with the profitability of his US based companies and has first hand experience in what a sclerotic yet malicious Leviathan government can do once it is no longer underwriting his wealth though subsidies and lucrative contracts.

So he has skin in the game, he doesn't have the cultural heritage that comes with growing up in the US.

This is where NWS or the city or someone made the mistake - 5-7 inches is a lot, but it's not "once in a lifetime" rain...15 inches (which is what they got) IS a rain forecast that should force an evacuation of everyone by the river. Underestimating the rain (which isn't funding - it's just error, like what happens every snowfall) was the big problem b/c as mentioned, no one gets up and evacuated safely at 2-4am - it's gotta happen before sleep, not during...

But mistakes happen. And mistakes were made by many. If I was the camp, I can't believe they stay even with 5-7 inches - that's misery for kids on a parents' dime. There should have always been an alt site to bus to if that much rain was ever called for.

110 Cities should have a purpose. What, in the modern world, is the purpose of a "great" city, where great just means a fuckload of people living in too close proximity for their own wellbeing?

Cities used to be the nexus for high specialization, also proximate to where the action is. When Wallstreet had traders on the floor, it helped to be close the physical floor. When your courts, banks and investment firms are in the CBD, then the lawyers, accountants and investors tend to be proximate to where they meet.

When you needed thousands to man the assembly lines, you needed the housing and support services (schools, stores, entertainment)

When you wanted top quality entertainment and food, you need a large population to ammortize those costs.

and so on...

The documents posted online, however, paint a different picture. They suggest the majority of bishops who responded to the Vatican survey had a generally favorable view of Benedict’s reform. They warned that suppressing or weakening it would "do more harm than good" and lead traditionalist Catholics to leave the church and join schismatic groups.

Traditionis Custodes was based on lies. The lie that the TLM was revered only by superannuated fossils. The lie that those who attended and were uplifted by it were potential schismatics. The lie that by suppressing the TLM, the faithful who loved it would be satisfied by the Novus Ordo Mass. I hope Leo at least stops the acts of suppression by the various bishops.

142 Periodically the administration lets slip that FedGov, specifically Health and Human Services was involved in child trafficking. The reports of 10's of thousands, if not 100's of children who were brought to the US border from Central and South America and "chaperoned" into the US by non-relatives. They were considered "undocumented minors" and HHS was one of the agencies responsible for their safety.

Many, (most) are unaccounted for. How is that possible?

We know how that's possible. And that FedGov and those that are it's orbit are responsible. Epstein and his "list" is a distraction.

145 107 LA is a funny sort of city, a lot different than Chicago or NYC, insofar as it is diffused, with lots of centers of activity and the "downtown" area is sort of a big nothing. There are centers of activity in Burbank, Santa Monica, out towards Pasadena, and certainly down towards Orange County. By contrast, Chicago and NYC feel more concentrated, with most of the action in Manhattan or the Loop respectively.

Good portrait. It is not really a city in the classic definition but a mass of heterogenous influences and characters. And yes, the downtown always felt like an empty shell to me, a ghost town. The film business is everywhere but there.

Now do a camp full of middle and upper-middle class girls on safari with their precious mobile devices and other possessions scattered about.

Where do you conjure up the drivers and vehicles in just a few minutes? They had three hours notice of Flash Floods.

When I lived in Central Texas, every time the WX reporter mentioned more than just showers, the usual "with a chance of flash flooding in low lying areas" statement as added almost as an afterthought.

With the penchant of the "news" to decorate the mundane with hyperbole, how do you realistically inform people that you really, really mean it this time, especially when the flooding is quite localized over a few ZIP codes in a multi-county coverage area?

It's called having an emergency plan. They were charging parents enough to have one. Even if the emergency plan was finding a local Church in the area on high ground to bed down in...and having that pre-existing relationship to do so...

Hopefully, as new ICE agents go on-line and more States step up and commit resources, the FBI can go back to their usual screwing off and petty crime investigations.

219 What many of you don't understand is that most of the New Yorkers you despise are not native New Yorkers. Hell, many (if not most) are not even US citizens. They come from elsewhere to make it in NY. The only native New Yorkers left are probably those in the outer boroughs, like the poor minorities in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens, and they're not invading your bucolic villages. Incredibly, Staten Island, which was always considered the red-headed stepchild borough, is probably the closest you will find to native. But they pretty much stay put. Manhattan is all tourists, transplants and illegals.

I was born and raised in Manhattan and spent the first 30+ years of my life there, so I'm not talking out of my ass. Back then we had neighborhoods: Jewish, Italian, Irish, German, etc. There are still pockets of true New York, but they are far too few.

226 Seems like Musk is just as vulnerable to emotionalism as any human. Remember he openly backed Trump after Butler last summer…. It was hard not to have an emotional reaction of admiration for that moment.

Now that emotion has cooled down and something got under his skin… probably a combo of his impression that a lot of his good DOGE work was ignored in the BBB plus other stuff not favorable to his companies…. Personal slights (even when not real and only perceived) can cause emotional responses. Remember he did face many attacks from his work on DOGE. I can understand partially his emotional reaction…. But I still think he’s gone way overboard beyond any reasonable reaction.

Instead of mourning the dead or supporting the heroic first responders—who have already rescued more than 850 people from the floodwaters—leftists are spinning a narrative that blames Trump-era budget decisions for the devastation"

This terrible event is an excellent example of what I'll call the Left's Two-Step Disaster Narrative Dance.

The Left screamed months ago that Trump's National Weather Service cuts will kill people. Without basis. When a weather-caused disaster happens, the Left is pre-loaded to blame Trump's cuts. Without any facts at the start. And likely none in the end. The Democrat-Media Complex gets two bites of the Trump's Fault! apple. The two-step puts Trump (or whomever) on defense when cuts are made. Then later when a Leftist-claimed cause and effect event occurs. Two sets of DOOM for the media to flood the news cycle with. Facts be damned.

We see the same "Trump Will Kill/Killed People!" op BS from the Left every day. And if not Trump killing folks, it is Republicans in Congress, Greg Abbott, or Ron DeSantis. It is all a Narrative Set-Up Dance.

276 In the weeks leading up to the devastating floods in Texas, five former directors of the National Weather Service sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump warning that continued cuts to the budget would result in the deaths of people.

I feel sick to my stomach for every single dead girl in Texas because it was preventable. It absolutely didn't have to happen. Lots of their parents voted for this gaggle of dipshits that cut all those NWS and NOAA jobs. Tragically, it close all those girls their lives.

Absolutely preventable. And the news media let the nation down again. Otherwise, all the people in red states and blue would know before the election that Trump sold himself directly to Big Oil, offering all they wanted in exchange for a one-time contribution of one billion dollars.

I’m pretty sure any cop working for a long period of time in a city like Minneapolis is going to get multiple misconduct reports filed on him.

Now that we know that Floyd was dying on the asphalt because of his own actions the on,y thing you could really accuse the cops of is refusing to turn Floyd over and starting CPR.

But they were waiting on the ambulance they’d already called for Floyd.

And we also learned Floyd died in the hospital, not on the street.

Chauvin is a political prisoner at this point.

That jumped out at me. From the hints that have dropped over the years, and from the absolute fear of anyone openly identifying what was going on there, I believe it’s clear that Epstein was just a front man, and that the Island was being run by FBI/CIA with a lot of help from all Five Eyes partners, and of course Maxwell brought Israeli intelligence services into it. Goal: compromise as many political and business leaders as possible so they could be controlled.

Epstein was a puppet. Those who the island are still in charge.

Last week it was Spain ...

The surge in visitors has stoked complaints at times from some Spaniards about “overtourism, ” with concerns about overcrowding, water use and particularly the availability and affordability of housing.

Spain’s government has started listening to demands for more regulation, particularly around housing in Spain’s big cities, where rising home and rental prices have become a key concern for voters. Earlier this month, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez introduced a 12-part plan to tackle the housing crisis, with measures aimed at bringing stricter regulations to short-term rentals that mainly cater to tourists.

The FBI had the evidence for 5 years. If there ever was such a list it is no doubt sleeping with the fish and as much as it would add to the intrigue there's never been any evidence anyone killed Epstein. And I don't for 1 second believe Kash and Bongino flipped to baddies.

336 Today marks the 81st anniversary of the largest banzai attack in World War II on the island of Saipan. This battle is usually remembered for two things, providing a base for B-29s to attack the Japanese home islands and the suicide of Admiral Chuichi Nagumo.

But there is another reason to remember this day. In 2002 President Bush awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor to Capt. Ben L. Solomon of the 2d Bn/105 Inf Reg/27 Inf Div for his actions on Saipan.

When the attack was over, Capt. Solomon was found lifeless and hunched over a heavy machine gun. He took 24 bullet wounds before succumbing to his injuries and had shifted the machine gun three times. Around him were the bodies of 98 Japanese soldiers.

Capt. Solomon had been the 2d Bn's surgeon and had ordered his medics and wounded to retreat to the regimental aid station while he held the attackers off.

At first his award for the Medal of Honor had been denied due to the fact he was a medic. Then it was denied in the 1950s because time had passed. It took one guy researching USC's contributions to the war effort, Solomon was an alumnus, to finally get Capt. Solomon the recognition he deserved for defending his patients.

If he’d just told them he thought he was ODing they might have been able to get him some Naploxne or something.

But nope, he was worried about going to jail again so he refused to answer when they asked him if he was on anything over and over.

All people have to do is watch the entire bodycam footage from the cops that day and you can see where the problem was, and it wasn’t the cops.

The west once knew the threat from islam, they saw firsthand their brothers killed in war, their sons and daughters kidnapped and sold into slavery, etc. Oct 7th type raids were a common occurrence.

I was taught in school that islam expanded mostly peacefully across much of the former Roman empire and they treated minorities well. Why was it taught that way, I wonder.

The future belongs to those who show up.

Houston already existed, but it grew exponentially after the hurricane, because it was not destroyed. Galveston was the richest city in Texas until the hurricane, but people saw the risk in being 5 feet above sea level, and moved to Houston. Galveston never recovered.

360 The Manhattan project cost approximately $2 Billion (1942 dollars)

Surprisingly it wasn’t the most costly single expenditure. That goes to the Boeing B29 procurement. $3 billion dollars.

The government was so insistent about procuring a long range super heavy bomber they approved it, and ordered an initial 300 before the prototype had even been built, much less flown; it was a huge debacle, and had many problems. It was basically left to the crews to work out the bugs, in combat.

363 A beloved Manhattan bodega cat was horrifically mauled to death by two pit bulls last week as the dogs’ heartless female owner and pals “watched and cheered,” animal rescuers claimed to The NYPost.

Tragic adorable tabby Freddy was attacked around 9 p.m. Friday outside Michelle Flowers, where he lived, in Washington Heights, according to volunteer rescuers with Cat Collective NY, who said they looked at surveillance video and spoke with witnesses.

The pit bulls’ owner and pals then smoked, danced and ate food while taking photos and mimicking the grisly scene, the group told The NYPost.

“Someone deliberately set dogs on a defenseless cat while people watched and cheered,” said Dan Rimada of Bodega Cats of New York — calling the incident pure “evil.”

365 On June 16, 2025, Lebanese TV host Walid Abboud, on Hala Al-Arabiya (Lebanon), addressed Hizbullah and Iranian regime supporters in Lebanon, telling them to leave Lebanon. He said that they should take their weapons, drones, rockets, flags, and allegiance to the Supreme Leader and the "Resistance Axis" with them.

He said that their "Great Iran" has planted a nuclear bomb in the midst of Lebanon, while its people are consumed by wars and killed by hunger. He accused Hizbullah of planting weapons and drones throughout Lebanon under the guise of saving the country, saying that in reality, it is finishing it off. He told them to stop hijacking the Lebanese people and killing their children, adding that Lebanese people no longer consider them a resistance movement: "You are not our destiny, and we will not be held hostage by your delusions."

He asked: "Who told you that loyalty to Iran is tantamount to patriotism?" He urged them to go away and settle in those faraway lands. He said that Iran will not reject them, after "all the love" they have shown it. "Go away, we want to live in peace."

A Better Suggestion For Illegal Alien Farm Workers

Ag labor shortages are due largely to the industry's unwillingness to pay wages that would attract citizens onto the farms. This is what needs to change. How in the world can we be paying California lifeguards half a million dollars per year but can't pay farm workers a competitive wage? Food prices will rise (labor intensive products like fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat would go up more than corn, wheat, soybeans) but a $500,000 per year lifeguard can probably afford a 20-30% increase in the cost of produce.

371 No, Montanans hated Californians as far back as 1980, it was a huge issue and much grumbling of the locals. Resource extraction was basically outlawed, so logging and mining declined. Then the wealthy trustafarians moved in, as is their wont, and granolas and hippies transformed the cities into carbon copies of Berkely or whatever. The first iteration of that was probably Telluride, Colo. sleepy blue collar mining town at one time.

None of the assclowns that ruined California were from California either. Virtually all transplants.

374 Good morning, all, and thanks, J.J.

July 15, 2023, several vehicles were trapped by a wall of water that rushed down from the nearby creek onto a 1-mile stretch of Washington Crossing Road in Bucks County, PA. Seven people - from ages 9 months to 78 years old - died as a result of the flash flooding.

Reportedly, the watershed was steeper than other waterways in the area, and rainwater collected quickly from several directions — making it possible for the creek to rise rapidly.

For the present, I don't want to see the msm pile on regions of Texas such as Kerrsville, state & federal services, etc. where such such devastating flooding is being experienced with its shoulda, coulda, gotcha press & politics. Just help if within your power and allow those poor people involved to hope & pray; search; grieve, reflect in their time. Pray for, or maybe remember if prayer isn't your thing, all involved especially the deceased; missing; physically and/or mentally injured; all of their families, the first responders & search and rescue teams, and places of refuge.

Some of the happiest times I had as a young girl were as a camper at a "church camp" on Lake Wallenpaupack in PA.

EU to Demand Stronger Migration Controls During Libya Visit' By Abdullahi Jimoh, July 3, 2025

In part, "The European Union (EU) has signalled its intention to take a tougher stance with Libyan authorities following a significant rise in irregular migration across the Central Mediterranean route.

EU Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner announced plans to travel to Libya next week, accompanied by government officials from Greece, Italy, and Malta, to press for stricter controls on migrant departures.

Brunner revealed details of the upcoming mission during a meeting in Athens with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, highlighting the urgency of the issue.

“That is a question that bothers us quite a lot at the moment. Libya is, of course, at the top of the agenda, and we’re travelling together to Libya next week because we have to be fast, I think, and firm,” he said."

Everything should be revisited by the federal government. And we need to be checking passports when people LEAVE as well, as Australia, HKG, Japan, the ROK and EU do.

378 The enforcement of Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education, may become more stringent depending on how the Supreme Court rules. The position of the Trump administration and several conservative-led states is that forcing women and girls to compete with biological males who identify as transgender is discriminatory.
The Supreme Court Is Reviewing Transgender Sports Bans.

Considering "gender identity" is a class protected by federal law, I don't see how a law can prevent people identifying as a certain sex/gender from competing in the sport of their choice.

I think the federal law first needs to change to remove "gender identity" as a protected class.

I think that would require an overturning of Bostock v. Clayton County (2020).

The landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Bostock v. Clayton County (2020) effectively added "gender identity" as a protected class under U.S. federal law by interpreting Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Court ruled 6-3 that discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity constitutes discrimination "because of sex," which is prohibited under Title VII.

379 I lived in Texas and the Gulf Coast for 20 years. A little perspective. Any summer Thunder storm can dump 5 inches and the usual places will flash flood. It's normal. Catastrophic rain always comes off the gulf from a low. I believe that when tropical storm Barry was declared dissipated people took that to mean all rained out and the low gone because that's what usually happens. When a flash flood warning was issued later into the Holiday Weekend I don't think people made the connection. Otherwise no way the death toll would be anything like this. There'd be a person or two that drove into it and that would be it. It's a horrible thing. IMO that's where the disconnect in risk thinking happened for those folks.

382 59 To capture the pilot’s attention, NORAD aircraft executed a headbutt maneuver. . .

What on earth is a headbutt maneuver?? I keep thinking of one airplane charging another nose to nose like a pair of angry billy goats but that can't be right.

For anyone interested, a headbutt maneuver is when an aircraft (in this case the Russian Fighter) crosses directly in front of another aircraft (in this case, the B-52) so close as to cause B-52 crew to need to change their flight suits. The B-52 was traveling at roughly 750 feet per second. The Russian fighter crossed in front of them at a distance of roughly 75 to 100 feet. Basically playing chicken at 600 miles per hour. A real colon clincher.

383 What on earth is a headbutt maneuver?

Posted by: Mike B at July 07, 2025 12:47 PM

Via Grok:

A headbutt maneuver is a tactical interception technique used by fighter jet pilots to gain the attention of an aircraft that has violated restricted airspace or is not responding to communication attempts. It involves the intercepting jet positioning itself directly in front of the intruding aircraft, often at a close distance, and sometimes sharply ascending or descending to create wake turbulence. This visually and physically jarring action is intended to alert the pilot of the violating aircraft without making physical contact.

The maneuver is typically used when radio communication fails or the pilot is not monitoring the appropriate frequency, such as the Guard frequency (121.500 MHz), and is part of standard intercept procedures to ensure airspace safety.
