Metzinger was one of the latter day cubists. Hence much of the angularity in his works. He also dabbled in pointillism. He never went full on abstract to the best of my knowledge and preferred to stay within the bounds of representationalism.

119 With the chalky colors and setting this looks like something that would hang in a beach house only used a few months of the year. (Maybe a relative of the owner painted it.)

Metzinger and others like him in the early-ish 20th century seem to be all style and technique. The image is secondary at best, often sterile. There's no emotional content and it doesn't invite the viewer to imagine stories connected to the scene or model.

I look at this compared to Constable landscapes, Pre-Rapaelite artists, Dutch Golden Age painters, even Larrson family scenes and wonder what went wrong with art.

A good friend of mine, noe deceased, was a former Team leader and Deputy Community Commander at the American post in Bad Tolz Germany. This was the SS officer training school back in the day. My friend spoke pretty good German and was liked by the locals. He was invited to a small local gasthaus one evening. It was the hangout for all the former nazis living in the area. My friend took me there one time. It was...creepy, but interesting.

I don't feel safe either. But, as a gay male who was born and raised in the south, I am used to feeling unsafe. But Orange Julius certainly makes it worse.

You don't need to be a "expert on olympic game safety" to witness what's going on. Not a day goes by that some foreign athlete invited to the US is blocked, held in a detention center, and sent back.
