CBS, Paramount Settle With Trump Over Word-Salad Election Interference Case
Update: CBS Lies About the Settlement

CBS continues insisting it will never apologize.

But it has agreed to a key demand Trump made: that they will always release a full transcript of every interview with a presidential candidate. I wish they could have gotten them to agree to release the full video of an interview, and extended this to all interviews.

But this will limit CBS's ability to butcher interviews to either boost or slander their presidential candidate interview subjects.

Paramount will settle President Trump's lawsuit over a "60 Minutes" interview with Kamala Harris for $16 million, the company announced late Tuesday.

CBS News' parent company worked with a mediator to resolve the lawsuit. Under the agreement, $16 million will be allocated to Mr. Trump's future presidential library and the plaintiffs' fees and costs. Neither Mr. Trump nor his co-plantiff, Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, will be directly paid as part of the settlement.

The settlement did not include an apology.

Paramount also agreed that "60 Minutes" will release transcripts of interviews with presidential candidates in the future, "subject to redactions as required for legal or national security concerns," the statement said.

This report is from the guilty party themselves, CBS. They point out that this suit was filed in a Texas jurisdiction with only one judge, a Trump appointee.

The lawsuit was filed in Amarillo, Texas, a portion of a federal district court where the sole judge is a 2019 Trump appointee, and it was based on a state consumer protection law that is intended to prevent advertisers from misleading the public about a product being sold. CBS News is not headquartered in Texas, nor did the interview take place there.

Oh, so now forum-shopping is a bad thing? Now it's a bad thing when people sue in an area with adverse political leanings?

But it's still okay for a New York or LA judge to preside over Gavin Newsom's $800 million lawsuit against Fox, right?

It's still okay for every Democrat or Republican to be tried in 85% Democrat jurisdictions, right?

Update: CBS is lying. Shock! They didn't report of the free advertising they'd promised Trump in addition to the $16 million payoff.

In addition to the lump sum payment, it is anticipated that CBS will air eight figures worth of advertisements, PSAs, or similar content promoting conservative causes for free, a source familiar with the negotiations and settlement deal told the Washington Free Beacon. While Paramount's current brass has disputed that provision, the incoming management team that is expected to take over after the company's merger with Skydance plans to honor it, the source said.

Forum shopping should be handled by a non-partisan team of independent lawyers, appointed by the president.

Republicans should be denied the ability to hire or fire at will because Republicans are partisan hacks. Democrats should be allowed free reign to appoint and fire whomever they want because they can deny their partisanship in favor of what is good for the world.

Yeah the problem with their complaint, as valid as it might be, they actually did what Trump sued them for, in violation of every ethical and journalistic standard such as there is, and really did lie about it. Whining about how you were railroaded doesn't really land when you actually did the crime. Mobsters complain about this all the time.

McGowan waited 20 years to report it, and only did so after a spat with Ben Affleck over sexual abuse in Hollywood. She also accused other male Hollywood power players of raping her.

She also accused multiple power players of trying to bribe and silence her, including by planting drugs on her in an airport.

Could she be telling the truth? Sure. But I have serious doubts. I think she's just nuts. She openly admitted to abusing booze and drugs. They may have fucked with her head.

FCC had the power to allow or deny CBS/Paramount merger with a firm run by Ellison's nepot.

Plus, as a matter of broadcast in the public interest and Red Lion, FCC had the power to remove CBS broadcast licenses in markets for its partisan conduct. While the Fair Time doctrine has been repealed during the Reagan years, there are plenty of FCC administrative rules and laws regarding broadcast fairness that CBS arguably failed to comply with.

At the time there was history of office holders, candidates, and supporters of the above censoring info or opinions detrimental of the above. It was believed necessary to prevent coverup shenanigans intended to prevent voters from being fully informed.

The actions of any network cutting and pasting an interview like a cosmetic surgeon to falsely present an interview with a candidate as other than what it was IS deceit. If they deliberately do it to make the candidate look better or look worse - either way it's deceitfully acting as political activists while pretending to be independent reporters. And their refusal to make the unedited copy of the interview available only confirms it was deliberate.

I have no doubt the settled now because they realized "it's a fair cop" - ie it was impossible to sell their innocence to either the public or the courts anymore. And disclosure would only make it worse, revealing just how incestious their relationship with the Harris campaign truly was.

You oughta read Mira Sorvino's tale when she rejected Harvey's embraces. It killed her career in Hollywood just after she won an Oscar in the Mighty Aphrodite. Another, I think mebbe Marissa Tomei had a similar horror story about Harvey at Cannes.

Basically scumbags often cross the criminal line when they become accustomed to taking what they want regardless of whether their target wants to yield. By that time, they feel entitled as a pseudo noble does.

Same process that violent criminals do until something stops them--they get worse and more violent.

Harvey, and now Diddly, ended up getting convicted much as Capone did for being scumbags that committed a few undeniable crimes that ended their crime spree.

I think the bigger problem was that they accelerated the Democrat Party's descent into machine politics.

It's why Kamala got elevated so quickly. Her performance in terms of electoral politics was poor. Her wins in CA statewide were uninspiring, at best.

But, the Obama team liked her, so they made her next in line in 2019 like appealing to the electorate wasn't an issue. This elevates people not able to appeal to the electorate over those that can because those in charge aren't looking for the right things in candidates. They're looking for brown nosers.

And they did: look up one day the sex assault claims brought against college boys during the MeToo frenzy. Obvious consensual sex encounters were later turned into weapons.

Oh, and being in a relationship is no defense. Several of Fat Harvs accusers admitted they were in a relationship with him.

Very old hand built code is usually much more secure by obscurity from hackers and also runs very fast and cheap on today's servers. It doesn't help that Ace's ad revenues have been destroyed by Big Tech anti Lefty censorship types and enforced boycotts of any advertising on any place that allows comments of the right (*wrong to them) kind.

So, Ace could move to a vamped up new system requiring registration, pay for play on comments like PJ Media, and become part of a conglomerate like PJ Media or the Daily Wire is or he can keep the current site running as cheaply as the existing revenues allow.

Your choice.

312 I think Allred's announcement is great, because I think it probably keeps Beato out of the race. Allred looks good on paper, but he just lost a Senate race to Ted Cruz by a 53% to 45% margin, and there's no reason to believe he'd get any more than that on another go round.
---
That's with the tail-wind of a Presidential election on the ballot.
And he had more money than he could spend--every ad on TV and YouTube was an Allred ad.

I'm really glad he is running.

314 On the Cornyn/Paxton race, looking around for stories I see that the GOPe is already trying to flood the zone with "Cornyn is more electable! You have to vote for the Deep State candidate, not the actual conservative!" They say that all of the drama and allegations about Paxton will drag him down - but, as with Trump, they're all quite old. They've been litigated in public for years, there isn't any one who hasn't already made up their mind about them.

Paxton has won 3 statewide races for attorney general, in 2022 winning by a 53% to 43% margin. His main task in an election is just to convince the people who've voted for him 3 times already to vote for him again.
