Anyone can write code Interestingly enough, writing code was the subject of interest in the conversation between the gSon and gDaughter when I drove them home late afternoon yesterday. Actually, gSon did most of the talking, but he was really jazzed about the whole thing, which was for the two of them to create a game that would garner lots of users and a high rating. The caveat, which made me laugh, was when gSon told gDaughter, "The catch is that I will need infinite screen time to do my part of the work." I laughed at that, only to be met with the rebuke, "Coding is hard work, grandpa!" They are ten and eight years old. Posted by: Krebs v Carnot: Epic Battle of the Cycling Stars (TM) Imprison! Last week I linked to a 'band' on YouTube called Rockabilly Records, which is apparently one musician who uses AI to 'write' songs and create videos. Sorry I'm late. I overslept. It's 5:05 instead of 4:20.
Had a nice day off yesterday. Took a walk at the local park with FenSpouse. It was very quiet. There have a building there that looks like a little English stone cottage and has all kinds of flowers around. It. We walked over a bridge to the canal and it was quiet. We saw a guy fishing and he had caught one bass. Also saw sliders on a log. Later in the day we went for ice cream at a place we hadn't been to since the young man was a little boy The people in the park were all smiling and when we said hello they said hello as well. It is good to be out in nature! Oh, yes, I sat down on a bench to look at a pond and underneath the bench was $5.00 . There was nobody else around there and it was placed so neatly that I wondered if someone had placed it there on purpose. Posted by: FenelonSpoke at July 01, 2025 05:14 AM (2GCMq) 37

Here's an immigration story that puzzles me: Recently there's been a flap because ICE arrested a woman who has been here from Iran since 1978. She came here legally on a student visa, the story says, married a U.S. citizen, and there have been repeated delays, reversals, and appeals with her visa status. She has never been "in the shadows" and has never missed a check-in date with Immigration. Is this a miscarriage of justice?
Personally I think there is more to this story that we are not being told. https://tinyurl.com/y3z3972d Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at July 01, 2025 05:36 AM (omVj0) 48

The story might take off in the typewriter in a totally different direction, or the artist might change the painting before final delivery. Crap shoot. My forthcoming story for Black Cat Weekly is a "Weird West," with all the usual trappings of the classic Western. If they get that much right in illustrating it, I guess I'll be okay. “The biggest cost of code is understanding it — not writing it.”
So true. In fact, a problem you see in inexperienced and, frankly, incompetent programmers is a tendency to simply rewrite the code they're tasked with maintaining because it's faster than understanding the existing code well enough to properly modify it. Of course, when they're allowed to do it you get all sorts of brand new bugs plus all the old problems you worked though when the first version was originally written. We've fostered rescues who were barely socialized. Time, patience, a regular rhythm of life and unobtrusive affection won them over. One had never been around men. So I was the one who fed him and gave him treats. While we were gone, the TV was turned on to the MLB channel so he'd hear male voices. Elon keeps asking for it, and Trump keeps delivering:
Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!! Jul 01, 2025 at 12:44 AM Elon keeps digging on the BBB and doesn’t realize literally everything he does with government funding can be called out as ‘wasteful’ by somebody. Posted by: FenelonSpoke Good Morning! Sounds like you needed the extra sleep.
