Hedgehogs are so cute that people say Sure I'll live with a permanent risk of salmonella to own one.

Horse and dog are besties.

The love of a pimp is very different from the love of a square.

Giant dogs need cuddles too.

Can a border collie find a tiny zipper-pull thrown into the woods? The answer may surprise you. (But probably not.)

The instinct runs deep.

Cat introduces her kitten to the new baby.

I like cats, but this is disturbing. They look like spiders.

Out of control.

The instinct to bathe is irresistible.

Rescuing a seal that got stuck in a crevasse.

Thoughtless people rescue a dangerous ice-bat.

The video game Satisfactory has an "arachophobe" mode that puts a kitten face overlay onto the "stingers," bizarre, spiderlike creatures that have freaky movement.

The kitten overlay does NOT make it any less creepy.

AOC EXPOSED: “BRONX GIRL” IMAGE SHATTERED BY YEARBOOK PHOTO

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez keeps talking tough — recently tweeting at President Trump, “I’m a Bronx girl… we eat Queens boys for breakfast.”

But now a New York Republican just DESTROYED that fake street cred with one yearbook photo.

Assemblyman Matt Slater (R–Yorktown) clapped back with a high school yearbook photo of AOC from Yorktown High School — in Westchester County, one of the wealthiest suburbs in New York.

His response?

"If you’re a BX girl then why are you in my Yorktown yearbook? Give it up already.”

Translation: AOC grew up in the suburbs, not the Bronx she claims to represent.

Let’s be real — this is just another example of the Left crafting fake identities to score political points.

AOC isn’t some tough Bronx chick — she’s a carefully packaged progressive product.

Americans are waking up. The act is getting old.

12 AOC was born and raised in the Bronx until she was 5, then her parents moved her to Yorktown for better schools and a better future.

Isn't that considered white flight?

It also means she didn't grow up in the culture that justifies Bronx attitude. So yes, a total poser.

15 Interesting takes on YT (even Cenk, a broken clock is right sometimes):

Mamdani's social media engagement is what got him the election. He was engaged on it and twisted it for his needs. Mamdani's rant against Cuomo in their debate got turned into a song that went viral.

(Trump had this kind of social media momentum and it won him the election. Mamdani used it also. Republicans, take note: have a team, or organic young fans, savvy enough to do this for future elections?)

Also, Cuomo's top donor admits he gave him $250K halfheartedly, only because he wanted an in if Cuomo won it. The old school pay-to-pay. He'll probably be backing Mamdami in the general.

44 On Tuesday, District Judge Tana Lin granted a partial injunction to the states which sued the Department of Transportation over blocking the funds, and said that the states would likely succeed in their suit alleging that these were withheld illegally.

In her ruling, Lin quoted from the TV show, writing: "In a 1995 episode of The Simpsons, Homer must cut short a tearful goodbye with his long-lost mother after her traveling companions protest that their 'electric van only has minutes of juice left!'"
"Some 26 years later, Congress sought to address the phenomenon that has come to be known as 'range anxiety': the unease experienced by electric vehicle ("EV") drivers when they are unsure where the next charging station might be, and whether their car's battery has sufficient charge to get them there," she continued.

What four girls aged 7 to 9 wouldn't want to watch "Starship Troopers?" We didn't last long. I took them to see "Baby Geniuses." I watch a lot of kids crap that doesn't piss me off.

Trust me. That very weekend, "Starship Troopers" was not THE movie that made adults want to blow their brains out.

The kids had fun. I apologized. One of them. "What for? We're kids. You took us to 2 movies. Popcorn and stuff and supper."

Yeah, but I sat through some of "Baby Geniuses" which had a sequel.

101 Thoughtless people rescue a dangerous ice-bat.

This is correct on two levels. The first is obvious; it takes truly thought-less people to rescue such a polymorphically-perverse, not to mention morbidly mephitic, creature from a deserving leopard seal, who probably had babies to feed.

Second is the dangerously disinformatic mis-labeling of ice-bat, a disservice to the many chiroptophiles who enthusiastically comment on this blog, a disservice undoubtedly driven by Big Penguin.

I can't believe what I'm getting done with Grok and ChatGPT. There was one piece of a project I'm working on that took about 2.5 laborious weeks and suddenly... I wondered if I could have done this in ChatGPT. I gave it a try, and everything I'd done was redone in 2.5 hours. I wanted to stab myself, but anyway, I learned.

I'm getting control over a lot of this project now and leaving just the techiest tech stuff for someone else to implement. Someone just responded to one of my requests with an obvious AI-crafted response and I consider it a plus.

I tried to outplay much more experienced but smaller players. My dad saw that and said: ‘what the fuck are you doing? Youre dancing around like a faggot. You can’t out-play these kids. They’ve been playing since they could walk. You’ve been playing for 6 months. But youre much bigger and stronger. Use what you have. Youre not a soccer player. Youre a football player on the soccer field. Run these motherfuckers over!’ So I did.

This has the hero Jacen Ryker and his female sidekick-without-benefits Faye find a noneuclidean horror from beyond the stars... and then get caught up in a space battle over it, which the faction of Androsynths win.
Except that these genetic clones - the Themmies, for Themyscira - are all female, and hot.
Will our hero resist temptation? Will he break down and explain to Faye the secret of who ordered the mission? And what's in the box?

Time used to be an entirely local thing. You couldn't even communicate, much level travel, fast enough for it to make any difference at all. Local time was set by the sun. It was noon when the sun crossed the meridian. And that was that.

Then came the telegraph and the railroads. There were accidents due to time synchronization errors. One particular one killed 14 people when one train just slammed into the back of another, each with their clocks set to different local times. The railroads realized it was imperative to synchronize their clocks.

And thus "Railroad Time" was born, which became the standard time zone system. The power of the railroads back in the late 19th century was enough they were able to impose that on the country without federal legislation. The states pretty much did it themselves. It was only in the early 20th century that the feds just rubber stamped that into federal law.

Hi nurse.

Gymnastics and cheerleading are surprisingly dangerous.

I watched a lot of Disney shows since they used to not piss me off. Young Caitlin Raegan joined Bizzardvark in season three. Young kid. Hilarious. She had the best lines.

"No Amelia, you are getting the best care science can buy. Now here, hold these healing crystals and think of rainbows."

I followed my favorites on Instagram. Nothing weird. They didn't piss me off and made me laugh. I need that.

But Caitlin was about 11. Working out for gymnastics. On the bars or something. Poor girl fell. Broke both arms at the same time! I felt so bad for her. Both arms in a cast. Horrible.

The higher the latitude, the worse the late sunrise effect is compounded by the too-far west time zones, like Michigan's panhandle being the worst, although Indiana is just as bad, just not as far north.

It's not as bad in in the lower latitudes, but I was just looking. In Amarillo, latest sunrise will be 8:56AM on year round DST. I expect they will complain. In Dallas, it will be about 8:30AM or so.

Robert.

You and I have been hanging around this site for decades now.

Your mom is in that place you believe in and in that belief, I hope you find comfort that her pain of living with pain is no more.

I will say a prayer for her tonight that she is in that peace, and a prayer for you that you will not suffer grief for too long.

Still, as always, nice to see you Robert.

335 Robert,

My condolences.

My Mom passing away was just about the most singular event of my life besides my son being born.

It's sadly a very different world I live in now.

I hope you can adjust with grace.

I do get to visit with her in my dreams every once in a while which is something I didn't expect.
