Pick Up Your Voucher At The Bunker Israeli secret services ‘used fake phone call’ to lure Iran’s air force elite to their deaths Israel secret services used a fake phone call to trick the top commanders of Iran’s air force into gathering at a single location before taking them out in a targeted strike, an Israeli Channel 12 commentator has said. In a statement confirmed to the JC by Israeli sources, Amit Segal told the Call Me Back podcast on Monday: “What Israel did was create a fake phone call for 20 members of the air force senior staff an calling them to a specific bunker in Tehran.” This meant there was no one to give the order to fire the initial salvo of 1,000 ballistic missiles as Iran had previously threatened to do, he added. According to sources familiar with the operation, Mossad initiated a targeted disinformation effort days before the strike. Using falsified communications through Iranian channels, they triggered what appeared to be an emergency meeting. The ruse successfully drew the entire senior leadership of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, including Commander General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, his deputies, and key technical personnel, into a fortified bunker outside Tehran.HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Cosplay For Leftards The Genius of The Handmaid’s Tale In her defining manifesto of second-wave feminism, The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan compared being a 1960s housewife to living in a “comfortable concentration camp.” She actually put that in the title of a whole chapter. “The feminine mystique has succeeded in burying millions of American women alive,” Friedan wrote, kind of like the millions of Jews who littered the mass graves of Auschwitz and Dachau. Kind of, except it’s not like that at all. When Friedan published this vacuous comparison, Margaret Atwood was 23. This is the kind of feminism that shaped her outlook as a young woman. It is marked by dizzying leaps of analogical fancy from the most ghastly atrocities in world history to the privileged condition of airheaded suburbanites. The Handmaid’s Tale improved upon this formula by summoning a fictional nightmare scenario to replace the real-life Holocaust as the all-purpose allegory for Every Bad Thing. This was, it must be said, a stroke of genius on Atwood’s part. It meant that the wealthiest and best-fed people ever to draw breath could go on casting themselves as the wretched of the earth without ever having to get specific about particulars.Have you ever seen any of the women wearing these outfits interviewed? They're practically panting when talking about being held down and “bred” by the patriarchy. It's their fetish. They're horny af. Adios! We Voted to Deport Every Single One of Them ’s strange how I keep being told by the regime media and Democrat political flunkies, to the limited extent that those are different things, about how I didn’t vote for what Donald Trump is doing to illegal aliens. I keep hearing about how I don’t want ICE raiding Home Depots, factories, and non-Beatles strawberry fields or sending away 30-year illegal aliens or illegal alien honor students. I’m told that Donald Trump only promised to deport criminal aliens – in the sense that they committed other crimes besides the crime they committed by being illegal aliens – and that Trump can’t actually send criminal aliens away either. I find that odd because I voted to send every single one of them back. And by “every single one of them,” I mean every single one of them. No exceptions. No quarter. No carveouts for farm or hospitality workers – the people trying to convince Trump to let up on that simply want to keep their serfs. Send them all back.My wife is a legal immigrant. She's rabid about deporting all illegals. Most legal immigrants are. History Lesson — ONT WTF (@OntWtf) June 20, 2025 The Genetic Mystery of Why Cats Purr May Finally Be Solved A study from Japan has identified potential genes behind cat purrs, and the discovery could help us understand why our furry companions make these contented rumblings. Despite humanity's long relationship with domestic cats (Felis catus), the purr remains mysterious, and its purpose is still up for debate. So is whether similar vocal vibrations in big cats also count as purrs, or if the phenomenon is unique to the smaller members of the cat family. The new information may eventually help solve some of these outstanding questions.Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur/ Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr On Dads Father’s Day by the Baloonatic My colleague, who would declare that she is independent when it comes to politics, also suffers horribly from TDS. Shortly after the election she started talking about the need to stock up on years worth of food and was refusing to leave her house to the point of having groceries delivered because she was scared to leave. It makes me wonder how much of that, too, is the impact of not having a father? How much is lost when you grow up without that steady presence, that protector? When there isn’t someone who picks you up from the car and carries you to bed even when you are faking being asleep? When there isn’t someone to discipline you when you need it, or to make you spend what feels like hours picking dandelions for wine and taking you out for ice cream or doughnuts? Who shares his secret stash of chocolate bars when you stay awake during the long road trips and keep him company? Is this why there are so many women who have become so unbalanced? The destruction of the nuclear family in the west is not an accident, it's by design. If women don't have men in their lives, particularly if they have kids, who or what steps into the support role? Government. A Cunning Plan The LA Riots Were Supposed to Make Newsom President Here’s how it was supposed to work. A Hispanic version of BLM operating out of California, funded by government money, would kickstart a national movement and catapult Newsom into the White House. But the plan isn’t working because the public isn’t invested in the riots. The BLM riots formed a movement, but illegal aliens waving Mexican flags and Antifa setting Waymos on fire isn’t resonating with Americans the way George Floyd’s golden coffin did. “I can’t breathe” market tests better than “I can’t illegally cross the border and commit crimes.”Too bad, so sad. Betty Friedan compared being a 1960s housewife to living in a “comfortable concentration camp.”
My mother was a fifties and sixties housewife. It was really rough. She did leisurely shopping in the morning, took naps, and watched soap operas. There aren't as many soap operas anymore because the ladies aren't home to watch them. And it was the women who controlled the money. Some of the women went to the husband's workplace at noon on Friday, so they could get a headstart on spending the paycheck. My mom used to laugh about the fact that she would sign my dad's name to his paycheck right in front of the bank teller. Posted by: nerdygirl at June 19, 2025 10:14 PM (0Htd1) 28

Meanwhile, in Ukraine:
1. The Ukrainian Parliament passed a law stripping citizenship from any Ukrainian who has a Russian passport, which is pretty much everyone in the captured/liberated areas. Short term, it will prevent Russian-leaning Ukrainians from participating in Ukrainian elections, if any are ever held again. Long term? I think this solidifies Russia's claims to captured territory, since now no Ukrainian citizens live there anymore. Whoops! Whoopsie! 2. Contd; pier and beam construction, where the house sits in wooden or concrete piers, and there is a crawl space under the house, open to the outside. In areas where it was too cold, this would make the house very difficult to keep warm, but it probably makes it easier to cool.

Las Cruces is at about 4,300 ft which is about 2,000 more than Tucson. This translates to roughly 10° cooler year-round. Humidity wise we're about equal ranging between 20% to 50%. The low humidity during the summer makes 100° not too bad If you're in the shade; you definitely wouldn't want to be on a road crew laying down asphalt. The peak enjoyable seasons are in the spring and the fall. June, July, and August, well nothing's perfect and it sure beats shoveling snow 5 months at the year. Why cuts to Muni service are happening
We know how important Muni is to San Francisco, and we never want to reduce service. But this summer, we’re facing a big financial challenge — and that means we have to make some tough choices. We had to reduce service because of a $50 million shortfall in our July 2025 - June 2026 budget. Our funding from parking, fares and the city’s General Fund is lower than expected. That’s mostly because of the long-lasting effects of the pandemic. We’ve already tried to fix this by cutting costs, slowing hiring and improving fare enforcement. But it’s not enough. ==== Yesiree! Our current house is a single story ranch built in 1965, deep soffits and shallow pitch roof. For a builder house it's solid and square, they still do homes, good reputation locally. The later developments feature wide streets for easier snow removal. Believe me, that is a smart move, in the older sections of town, the houses are jammed together, making snow removal or accumulation a nightmare.

Mossad may have been caught with their pants down on October 7, but they have done yeoman work since then. The beeper attack was sheer brilliance. And all the advance work they did prior to last Friday has been nothing but genius. And I think they are still operation side Iran, confusing the hell out of the Iranians, building Israeli air attacks, and making every higher up suspect every member of his staff.
Also, I think Trump is playing the Iranian leadership like a violin. His two week chance to talk must be giving them terminal heart burn. If they don't accept Trump's terms, what fresh hell might the Israelis rain down on them? Even worse for them is the possibility Trump might begin to assist Israel in a more overt manner. Finally, taking Trump at his word, I don't believe he's interested in anything other than dismantling Iran nuclear facilities. He has plainly said that the Iranians themselves will have to decide what comes next. Posted by: Captain Josepha Sabin at June 19, 2025 11:54 PM (2XtqA) 249

This aligns with the common feminist complaint of "why do all the men that I am sexually attracted to have politics I hate?" But...rejection of biology, and the real world in general, are the core parts of leftist beliefs. Posted by: 18-1 at June 19, 2025 11:57 PM (t0Rmr) 252

I'm not non-interventionalist, I'm non-nation building. I think Israel is doing what must be done, and if they need help, say with taking out the last enrichment sight and we have weapons they don't, we should bounce the rubble. But after that...that's Iran's problem. No boots on the ground trying to build a "stable democracy" or any of that garbage. If a regime change happens and a pro-western government comes to power, hell I'm all for a Marshall Plan to support it. But other than that, let the Persians take care of themselves. Having emergency food and water reserves is just common sense and anyone with the space to do so should have some. But, I am also darkly amused that leftists who view themselves as the common men/women of the world have no problem finding the money to pay someone else to do their chores for them, and at a time where, apparently, it is dangerous to do so. One word, cheap. Concrete slab is cheaper than a basement. Caliche is easy enough to deal with, soak the ground before digging. But if you can just use a tractor to scrape out a spot for a pad it'll take less time and cost less to prep the site.
Posted by: Blanco Basura ---- In my area, basements are rare because of rocks. Little ones, big ones... lots of rocks. APS just put in some underground power in my area. A four foot deep trench was dug by a backhoe, but a stinger on the front loader had a jackhammer on it, and it was used every 5-10 feet to bust up the big rocks so that the backhoe could get through. To build a decent size basement here would require something like a CAT 335. So, you're right. Rental on one of those babies is about 5 grand a week. Plus delivery costs. Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at June 20, 2025 12:28 AM (wwlZ/) Does your buddy work on policy in D.C.? Yeah, I never got that. Once the USSR 'fell', things changed. There was a real opportunity for some positive real politik, a rapprochement. But NATO fucked all that up. Not that Putin's a saint. But Russia has always had a strong man ruling it. The one time there wasn't a strong man, the Tsar abdicated and Kerensky's government fell to commies. I honestly don't think Russians and Americans hate each other. I know I don't. But some politicos on our side are decaying Cold Warriors. I guess they are comfortable with that black and white world. >>You are spot on. US Trump has become the definitive modern president and a master at yielding power on a global basis. I have never seen anything like this in my lifetime or in my reading about American presidents.
Me neither. None of us have because it's never happened. We are living in revolutionary times even if it doesn't seem like what we've read about in history books. We talk about things like the deep state like it is some mythical beast but it is very real. Trump is shattering it from the inside while working with allies to destroy the Iranian theocracy that has dominated much of geopolitics for the last 40+ years while also winding down the idiotic war in Ukraine. It's an audacious platform even if he gets little credit. Posted by: JackStraw at June 20, 2025 12:43 AM (viF8m) 325
Orange Ent- you can always self-publish on Amazon. That said, marketing is critical. This advice comes from someone who self-published and hasn't made any money (my regularly published book was modestly successful), so the advice is worth what you paid for it.
Posted by: Nerd Herd at June 20, 2025 12:24 AM (6nQni) Oh, I've looked into that. It's still not free. There are programs to format the books, and choose trim sizes, and design book covers, but they're not usually free. You also need to have at least a modicum of talent. I suppose I'd have to just copy whatever cover designs are current in the genres. Being older, of course the bias is toward trad pub. But, that takes an agent and.... So, who knows. Salem was chosen as the capital (in competition with Corvallis and Eola) based on its central location in the Willamette valley and the farming areas, and its location on the river which was the main transport corridor for the state.
Eugene was not reachable by river part of the year, and Corvallis served a smaller population area around Mary's River. Champoeg had been a central area that would have carried both French Prairie and the Tualitan plains, but it had been washed out in a flood. Portland and Oregon City were a bit larger, but Portland was considered difficult to get to, being both on the wrong side of the falls at Oregon City, and Oregon City was considered to be too entrenched and held by the transportation companies to be a good representation for the state Posted by: Kindltot at June 20, 2025 12:58 AM (D7oie) 352

Cold and cloudy the majority of the time to where a sunny summer weekend would be the lead story on the local news. Wet feet all day more than half the year from slush, and the necessity to replace your car in 10 years unless you could put it in a garage from Sep til May. Been in AZ for more than 20 years. Tom's wife had come for a visit. John kept talking away and Ben said something like, 'Let's go, John, and leave them alone.' John was astonished: 'On a Sunday?' Other than that, it was a musical where no music should have gone. Posted by: RickZ at June 19, 2025 11:46 PM (gKDq2) A great musical! Actually the line about Ben telling John to leave so Jefferson can be alone with his wife (so they can make love) revolves around John Adams' astonishment that they are going to do so in the middle of the afternoon. Adams: "You mean right now? In the middle of the afternoon? Incredible!" Franklin: "Not everyone's from Boston, John! (pauses) You know maybe I should have written it [the Declaration) after all. At my age there's no doubt that the pen is mightier than the sword." Played Adams in a production of 1776 way back when Posted by: Publius Redux at June 20, 2025 01:17 AM (/aZwr) 389

273 While guerilla warfare was part of the success of the colonials, it is overstated somewhat I think. We won several set piece battles, most notably Yorktown, and absent those I suspect that the guerilla warfare would have been for naught.
Posted by: 18-1 The fallacy that the Revolution was won with purely guerilla tactics is the lie that the Brits tell themselves to deal with losing the war. There was quite a bit of that, to be sure, but the Continental Army was a true standing army of the time, drilled and disciplined by the likes of Von Steuben. The battles of Saratoga and especially Cowpens (also mentioned above) are examples of this. Even battles such as Monmouth although a draw, are examples of our ability to fight a traditional linear battle. Yorktown is a textbook siege operation of the time with some linear battles included. I finally figured out why I thought the bushbaby scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey was a deleted scene: I read a book about the making of the movie, probably in the 70s. In it, the telescreen call is described and a picture of the bushbaby appears in the book, this from a deleted scene where someone goes to a pet shop to buy the little girl her birthday present. That scene was deleted, and I got that mixed up with the whole sequence! Mea culpa!

Carson City's mint is fully functional still today. Probably one of the best maintained pieces of machinery I have ever seen.
Also of note is that Virginia City has as much gold and silver laying on the ground in tailings as they extracted during the rush. They still pull thousands of pounds per year out of Mt. Davidson which is between Gold Hill and Silver City. Maybe 4 miles down the road from VC. There is (maybe was) an old man who still mines silver in his mine under D street. I have 5 ounces from it. And finally VC was the richest place on earth for somewhere around 20 years. There are a couple of imported castles and the Hearst family got it's start up there. The family still owns a mansion in an isolated valley west of VC. San Francisco owes it's existence to VC. It had a very nice home for disabled civil war soldiers and any of you Catholics who haven't visited St Mary's in the Mountains are robbing yourselves. I love Viginia City. Go as often as I can. I have seen 3D movies with the polarized glasses and the anaglyphic (red and green) glasses. The anaglyphic glasses are murder on your eyes! You want to tear them off after 15 minutes and watch the rest of the movie in blurry 2D! The polarized glasses are better: they dim the movie by 50% since each lens blocks half the light. One of my colleagues in the physics department collected some of the glasses from a movie theater after a 3D show and was able to show that they worked by right and left circular polarization. Also using polarization for 3D allows a color film to be shown.
