Terry Moran: I'm So Totally STOKED!!! to Finally Have My Own Unpaid Podcast

All of these leftwing propagandists fired by leftwing media companies for being too stridently partisan all claim the same thing: We're all so excited to no longer have our seven-digit salaries at corporate "news" companies, we're so psyched to now have unpaid gigs on Substack.

Weird. If they loved podcasting this much, they could have entered the field at any time before their much-deserved firings.

Seems suspicious.

Jake Tapper's buddy Terry Moran is just loving being funemployed.

Terry Moran has revealed he is launching a Substack channel just days after he was axed from his anchor job at ABC over anti-Trump social media comments.

The 28-year ABC veteran, who was pictured barefoot, pacing and biting his nails outside his home earlier today, took to X - the same platform which ultimately became his downfall - to unveil the new career move.

'For almost 28 years I was a reporter and anchor for ABC News. As you may have heard, I'm not there anymore,' he said, referencing the high-profile axing.

Moran was let go following a 'clear violation' of the network's social media and impartiality policy.

...

Those comments, though swiftly deleted, ultimately went viral and ABC executives felt they had no choice but to act quickly and respond harshly. If they didn't, the network's impartiality would have come into question, particularly given Trump's outspoken criticism of media bias.

Now, Moran is forging a new path away from traditional media. 'I'm here, with you, on Substack, this amazing space and I can't wait to get at it,' he said.

'To get at the important work we all have to do in this time of such trouble for our country.

'I'm going to be reporting and interviewing and just sharing with you and hoping to hear from you as well.'

Moran said it will take 'a few days, maybe longer' to get his profile up and running.

So, so psyched to have 90,000 subscribers on Substack. What a career move.

Terry Moran is so completely stoked to now be on Substack that he's complaining about being fired.

Weird. You'd think he'd be grateful to be fired, as it finally gave him the chance to get into the podcast game he's so enamored of.

ABC top bosses fired Moran within two days of him sending and deleting the post, citing a 'clear violation' of the network's policies.

Speaking to the New York Times on Monday, Moran insisted it was 'not a drunk tweet', and lashed out at the suggestion he was on the outs anyway.

He said his former employer's framing of his contract situation was 'incorrect', and accused ABC of 'bailing' on a 'pre-existing oral agreement' that would have seen his contract renewed for three more years.

'We had a deal,' he fumed.

The statement from ABC which infuriated Moran read: 'We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran, and based on his recent post -- which was a clear violation of ABC News policies -- we have made the decision to not renew.'

...

An insider at ABC previously told Fox News that Moran was quickly ousted from the network because he gave bosses 'no other choice' after sharing his anti-Trump beliefs.

'We f***ing took it seriously and dealt with it pretty g*d***mn quickly,' they said, adding that the network wanted to avoid a drawn-out investigation as they decided to ax him within days of the post.

In the days after losing his job, Moran announced a new career move as he launched his own Substack channel.

Moran said he is forging a new path away from traditional media. 'I'm here, with you, on Substack, this amazing space and I can't wait to get at it,' he said.

Wait until he hears about blogging!

But, they're too dense to ever learn that their unique perspective and reporting isn't at all in demand when consumers are no longer forced to subsidize them via cable bundling or exclusive over-the-air broadcast licenses.

62 Netflix has a documentary on the Titan sub disaster. It's worse than you think. The sub was an even bigger piece of shit than you think it was, it failed every major test it was subjected to, and the entire design was riddled with foundational design flaws that never could have been corrected.

And incredibly, the CEO was such a raging egotistical narcist that -- knowing all this -- he still went down on the sub. The world is full of CEOs who ignore obvious risks in their products and services to sell them to other people. There are very few CEOs who ignore the risks to themselves. Stockton Rush was one of those.

I mention this year because it kinda dovetails with my comment above about the media parroting whatever a sugar daddy wants them to. Right up until the moment the sub imploded and killed everyone, the media was falling over themselves sucking Rush's dick and praising the company. I'm sure he paid them all off to be his PR department.

There appear to be standard, expected lies that managers tell.

A place I worked had a variable, uncertain future. And also, an inexplicably large number of vice presidents. Every time things looked bleak, some of the VPs would get jobs somewhere else, and they always told the same lie: they had not sought a new position, but the opportunity had unexpectedly fallen out of the sky, and they owed it to themselves to branch out and try something new.

One of the long standing problems of 'conservative' media is that that it is not all that conservative.

People are policy so to speak and Buckley and later Lowry at NR hired 'conservatives' that were actually revealed later to be liberal. Something similar happened when Nick Gillespie eviscerated the libertarian flagship Reason.

Basically as liberalism lost its political appeal, they went underground as good Bolshies tend to do.

He lost it all, had to sell everything for pennies on the dollar, declared bankruptcy, moved to a cheaper state.

And THEN he announced he had a brilliant new venture that was going to be 100x bigger and better than his previous empire: A substack!!!

Seriously. He was not joking.

So he mustered all his resources and hired people with borrowed money etc. and LAUNCHED his substack!!!!

And...

And...

...nobody cared.

Got a few dozen subscribers (old friends out of obligation). Made zero dollars.

And declared bankruptcy a second time.

Moral: Substack is a joke. It's just a blog with a different name.

Question:
Conservative media often self-touts the stories of "liberal converted to conservativism by reading our magazine." For example, Kevin Williamson.
But, like him, they tend to be fair-weather conservatives who don't like actual conservatives all that much.

Are there similar stories of "used to read the Limbaugh Letter?"

Conservatism relies too much on rationalism in politics just like the now superceded liberals did. For the most part, politics is inherently irrational because most voters base their decisions on rhetoric and other less than rational variables like family history, ethnicity, neighbors/coworkers, etc.

Same reason that markets are irrational based on the fear and greed of investors.

In the long run, rationality rules both markets and politics but that is usually in the ruins of some cataclysm.

Revolutionaries and leftists do this all the time and have for thousands of years. In the ACW, the South had a uniparty legislature and a life threatinging war going and still had time for fistfights and duels with each other. Legislatures need exactly 2 parties, no more no less.

243 To the degree that pop music is inherently ephemeral, Henley at the top of his game could write a catchy hit and had a pretty good after Eagles career from about 1980-1990 or so.

Gotta agree, Henley's solo stuff is very good. It helps that he had some amazing people playing on the tracks. Sunset Grill, my personal favorite of his solo stuff, included Randy Newman and Benmont Tench (Tom Petty's keyboard player), among others.

He actually pays people to scour YouTube and other Internet sites for unauthorized uploads or covers of songs he owns, which is a level of pathetic asshole that's rarely achieved.

258 Lawsuit testimony found at the Guardian UK.

Don Henley testified on Monday that a “poor decision” led to his arrest in 1980, when authorities said they found drugs and a 16-year-old sex worker suffering from an overdose at the rock star’s Los Angeles home.

Henley was asked about the arrest as he testified at a criminal trial surrounding what he says were stolen, handwritten draft lyrics to Hotel California and other Eagles hits.

Henley said he called for a sex worker on a night in November 1980 because he “wanted to escape the depression I was in” over the breakup of the superstar band.

“I wanted to forget about everything that was happening with the band, and I made a poor decision which I regret to this day. I’ve had to live with it for 44 years. I’m still living with it today, in this courtroom. Poor decision,” the 76-year-old testified in a raspy drawl.

As he has previously, Henley said he didn’t know the girl’s age until after his arrest and that he did cocaine with and went to bed with the girl – but never had sex with her.

“I don’t remember the anatomical details, but I know there was no sex,” he said.

Yeah, I'm surprised he returned.

He tells the story of how Henley came to him soon before they appeared live on that MTV Unplugged "Hell Freezes Over" special and asked him to write and perform a new intro to Hotel California.

It was quite masterful & beautiful (that's my all-time favorite song) with the flamenco guitar style ...

Nobody believes Gavin wants to cut benefits, too many people are stealing them. Or using the illegals.

Haha, it will be funny when he's running for prez and he says "I TRIED to do it!" (implied remainder of sentence: but those idiot Democrats in Sacramento wouldn't let me)

308 304 Although I don't approve of what Henley did, I also could never get that worked up about it, because the story is that he acted like a 70's rockstar. Can anyone seriously name any rockstar from the 70's or 80's who didn't have all night drug parties with their groupies? He got busted, he got shamed, and he's had to live with it. Most of them didn't.

Wasn't only pop stars, during the late 60's to early 80's, drugs and casual sex were celebrated in culture even when the participants were teens.

AIDS is what put an end to the bacchanalian fest of Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll.

I agree. Felder has chops. My guess is both money and nostalgia as the Eagles were THE biggest American rock group for awhile.

The rumor is that he did so much cocaine, you can tell from before and after pictures that he's got a brand new plastic surgery-created nose.

They called them "E3 Parties" IIRC ...

I enjoyed the movie Bohemian Rhapsody about Freddie Mercury and Queen, even though there were a few completely ridiculous scenes in it. Remember - the current members of Queen (especially Brian May, who is very respectable now) demanded complete editorial control over the script, and they got it. So there's one scene where Freddie Mercury comes up to his bandmates after a concert and says "Hey we're invited to this great party, it's gonna go on all night long!" And then all 3 of them stiffly say "Oh No Freddie We Must Go Home and stay with our Wives And Children, You Go by Yourself."

I wanted to jump up and scream "you LIARS! you big fat LIARS!!!"

California legislature made it legal to do that.

313 Everybody reading this site is a news junkie to one degree or another. Terry Moran is a name I'd read, but the guy was one of the background Lawrence O'Donnells until the firing. This is the most attention he's ever received.

Well, to be fair, that is more than he had at ABC.
